Ubisoft: Watch Dogs is leading on next-gen/PC, then being ported to current-gen

Good. Develop on high end PCs and downport to current gen consoles. I would be quite pleases with this considering I'll be playing the PC version regardless. :)

first i ever heard of a chip to run facebook.lol also seems like most people here dont own a wii u and really have no idea who it plays games

i sort of have to laugh at all the ps4 talk. am i the only 1 who remembers that killzone was shown at launch for the ps3. sony said it was real footage. lol came out later none of it was. it was all cg. most of the ram of the ps4 will go for social aspects/ with all the apps running for that aspect of the ps4 will make the ps4 a great facebook device but untill i see reaL footage i take nothing sony says to heart. all the cores do nothing for gaming. multitasking i have a pc for. and i havent seen a game that i cant run on high with 4 g of ram.

i dont see much improvement over launch wii u games. dont beleave anything from sony anyways. they said killzone for the ps3 at revealing was gameplay. later it was learned it was cg and they blatently lied about it. most of the improvements in ps4 is sharing. i have a pc for facebook

i am older. 54. have owned every console since pong and commadore 64. now i too play somewhat limited but im only buying 1 console this time. The 1 that has the best exclusives and thats nintendo. ms or sony havent even come close to zelda, metroid, starfox, mario. those are games that are fun to play. killzone was always a blah game. another generic shooter. I have more games at launch for the wii u than any other console i have owned. and thats not counting the wii games i havent played. playing mario, cod, golden eye and the best game right now the last story. the game is amazing. thats what makes gaming fun. cant have my friends watch- who cares. cant post on facebook. who cares. gamiung is about the gam,es and untill sony and ms figure that out they will keep losing money. there is a reason forbes rates nintendo the number 1 electronic company in the world. games and the wii u has a ton coming out. cant wait till xenoblades is released for the wii u as a vc or new 1. thats what gaming is about. dont get caoght up in the little kid games played on neogaf. just enjoy gaming

wow i must have been playing in a dream. your saying that all zeldas are really the same just different graphics. lol so killzone 4 is different from 3. both shooters. lol also the wii u outsold the 360 and ps3 combined over the first 6 weeks of launch of all 3 consoles. every thing took a dive after xmas in sales. economy is horrible. starting to realize how many blind fanboys are on gaf

forbes released this month their most successful companies in the world [electronics]. nintendo was number 1 followed by apple. nintendo doesnt have a problem. they just need games released just like every other next gen will. sorry by the way nintendo was so far ahead of sony and microsoft it wasnt even funny. nintendo knows how to make money. sony is drowning in debt and ms is even worse. you do know who forbes is?

wii u doesnt need saving.every single kid who says the wii u is doomed has been saying that about nintendo since they could wipe their own butts. if you look at release games announced for the ps3 less than what the wii u had. also not counting the ones for the ps4 that will be delayed. nintendo is and always will be the number 1 gameing company in the world and some girls like this young lady cant understand that.

where does it say the wii u is downported? it means they see the wii u as next genereation no matter what you guys think

seems to me that they are not saying that at all. what line did you read that from? looks to me like they wont allow them. they would simply come out say used games can be played. evidently they are more concerned with the deveopers than the people who buy them. this is why they are on the verge of bankrupcy.

Jesus. Every post is comedy gold. Already my favorite poster of this year.

And you're missing out, Trine 2's legitimately great.
I'm not saying it's not great, but I thought the first one was pure crap, just personally, I'm not saying it's not actually good.

As for the Wii U, we shall see. I never doubted it was beyond the other two, although so far it's shown anything but that, but the idea it's not 'on par' with them, remains to be seen.

EDIT: I hate it when people have to 'prove' they own a game or a console. We can either converse as adults, or not, and clearly, this has veered off into not.

I do own a Wii U. Please post a picture of the one that you own.

Damn, go get em.

I find it funny that people don't realize the 720 and PS4 versions are also "downports" of the PC version.

There is a reason why PC gaming is called the master race by so many people

Yeah...let's all point and laugh.
Whats funny about peoples opinions that you don't agree with?

tough kids moved on from the playground to gaming forums.

i love how people make the argument that because the games are built for pc they are the lead platform that sorta logic is up there with 8gb = more fps... pc hardware is all over the place so saying that they lead on pc doesnt mean anything optimizations are more meaningful on consoles.

pc games are horribly optimized and only though brute force games run well.

evidently uou dont have a wii u. calling the wii u worse than the ps3 or 360 is idiodict. i have all 3 and the wii version blows away everything that is on all 3 consoles. madden isnt from what i hear. but ac,darksiders, trine mass effect on the wii u blow away the ps3 and 360 both in looks and how they play. even my 26 year old son who beleaves the ps3 is god in video games says the wii u versions are leaps ahead of the current generation adnd so do the makers of watchdogs. they even say in interviews that there is really no diff between the ps4 version and the wii u. how do you like that?
its amazing how on this site guys like this just rip the wii u and probably have never even played 1. its sad for them really.

Calling us blind fanboys and then putting a blindfold himself isn't hilarious? I think it is! You didn't even read the posts, did you?

I guess the best thing to do is have fun reading these posts and revisit them with tequila in hand when the games finally release; taking a shot everytime someone is wrong.

The Wii U Version of Watch Dogs could very well become the definitive version of the game.

I mean, the Wii U Gamepad for this game makes too much sense.

Guys guys guys ... From this moment :
PC >= PS4 ~= NEXTBOX > WIIU

But in essence they are the same basic hardware. It will be easier to port / create games for multiple platforms release them simultenously. I see it as Ultra qualitty on pc with very little difference on nextbox and ps4 and medium / low (probably low) quality on wiiu. But would it be the same game , definately yes ... Next gen would be good :)

This sentence suggests you speak from a position of naivety. There are plenty of PC games that have an optimized baseline configuration in mind that can scale up from there, using additional power for better IQ.

I'm honestly having a hard time reading this post.

I struggled too. Punctuation would have helped.

Maybe the definitive last gen version of the game.

Some tablet gimmicks aren't going to make up for the next gen physics, AI and graphics. Those 2 demos of the game made me want to just screw around in that open world which few open world games have done this gen.

If I learned anything from last gen, it's that there are fucking weirdos that prefer to play Call of Duty on Wii than the PS360 versions due to some misguided notion of what is important in games. They'll take fucking half the amount of online players at once and half the framerate just so they can hit that checklist.

I bet Ubisoft could basically add nothing and just have sub-HD off tv play (man, two downgrades - one from next-gen, one from HD... just the way Watch Dogs was always intended) and they'd still opt for the Wii U version.

You can't question it Derrick01, you'll go mad yo.

What's there to see? I already know it's not going to be up to the next gen standards, it's not possible with the spec difference. There's nothing that they can throw on to a tablet controller to make me go "I need to throw all that other stuff away for this!".

Maybe Mtalador would prefer tablet gimmicks to any of those other gimmicks you mentioned? That all comes down to tastes.

I'm with you in that the open world makes me want to just goof around. I had a ton of fun in JC2 and SR3 because of the exact same thing, and it looks like WD is taking that even further with its environmental interactivity. (Plus it's in Chicago! Yay!)

Well, at least in visuals he should be correct in assuming that the Next Box and PS4 will provide more than the Wii U version, just as the PC version will provide the highest level. I remained unconvinced about (noticeable) AI and physics differences myself. AI especially. We'll see.

Honest question: what could the GamePad bring to the game except maybe minimap and shortcuts for the "hack abilities"? Even devs seemed undecided about GamePad.

How about voice recognition (of some sorts)? Wii U gamepad has a mic build in. Didn't he DS even had some games where you could say something and the game understood it?
What about receiving video-phone calls on the screen? That, plus the fact that the Wii U gamepad also has speakers, could add a lot to the immersion. Hearing somebody talk to you only through the gamepad and not the TV could be really cool.

What about the build in motion sensors? What could devs use them for?

How about the interaction with the touch screen? browsing some notes while you are somewhere in the game without having to display said notes on the TV screen?

I think there are a lot of possibilities, wouldn't you agree?

What's opinion, that it's not going to match up to the next gen versions? You can't possibly be serious.

This is the first time I've seen stuff like physics called gimmicks. Those things I listed are pretty important in making an open world game feel believable and immersive. It's why everyone was blown away by the demos that they showed, not because the guy pulled out his phone and hacked a camera.

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!

What does any of this have to do with the topic other than provide you with an opportunity to vaguely insult nameless people? I liked Wii COD controls even though I have access to the PC versions of every game and lots of people on PS360 are fine with half the player count and gimped graphics compared to PC in games like Battlefield 3. Why would you assume it's all to check a box rather than the simple fact they have fun or they don't? Sheesh, you need to grow up, seriously. Graphically all consoles will be outdated within a couple years tops anyway. WiiU already is. First parties of course love the fact people play games for more than the tech, which is why so many people on GAF have all time favorites that are many years old and often prefer them over far more technologically advanced sequels or other games in the genre, even if their AI and physics justify the hardware.

Disclaimer: this does not mean I agree with anything the particular named fan said in this case, nor do I imply Watchdogs will be awesome on WiiU, when I don't even know if it will be awesome on PC to begin with. Hopefully it will be.

I think you should wait to see the Wii U version running before claiming all that.

If Ubisoft can make Watch Dogs run comparatively on a system with 2Gb DDR3 (12.8Gb/s bandwidth), a tri-core CPU (that is in some ways both inferior/superior to the 360's CPU), and an HD 4000 series equivalent GPU to a system with 8Gb GDDR5 (176Gb/s), an 8-core CPU, and a GPU roughly equivalent to high end HD 7000 series card, I'll eat my own ass.

Neither will the PS4 version vs a system running GTX 680 SLI.

Bunch of absolute posters around here. Go watch Stars Wars for the 1000th time.

Only a Sith deals in absolutes.

Except for Jedi assessing who deals in absolutes. They deal in absolutes as well apparently.

Some of those will be possible with 720 and PS4 and I doubt they will be still used. I still fail to see the potential of GamePad in games that aren't made ground up to support it. Always on mini-map and stuff like that are neat but hardly ground-breaking.

Gimmicks are something that doesn't improve the experience at all. You're going to seriously sit there and say three basic things in all video games are gimmicks? Just because someone insulted your precious tablet? That's your call I suppose.
