I'm as disappointed as anyone that Hayter is not returning to voice Snake, but honestly it could be a good thing depending on who they get to do the voice. Some people think they might be getting Richard Doyle to voice Big Boss, which wouldn't be the worst thing in the world:

I don't know what's funnier. The people that claim they won't buy this game if Hayter is replaced or the people that claim now that Hayter has been replaced MGS will finally get to be "serious" as if his voice acting was the only ridiculous thing about the games (especially MGS4).

That being said if they replace the voice of Solid Snake in new games THEN I will be pissed off.

I'm just glad Kojima is back to his former self, pranking and pulling deceiving tricks. He looks like he's enjoying himself and has a lot of fun developing this game, like he had during the development of MGS3.

He seemed very frustrated during MGS4 development, in retrospect probably because he couldn't get the engine to work properly to actually make the things he wanted to make. MGS4 was a watered-down version of the game Kojima promised and I'm sure it pissed him off more than anything.

His enthousiasm on MGSv reflects on the game, even though we still know next to nothing it already looks 10x more grande than MGS4 [both in terms of gameplay as in atmosphere/cutscene direction].

Everything I've heard so far sounds fantastic. It's nice that they are changing the formula of a MGS game, because as much as I love the others, the evolution of a concept is always welcome. The same idea goes with David Hayter. I'm a little disappointed sure, but I'll take it for what it is and trust they know what they are doing.

I like Hayter and all, but i'll still buy the game no doubt about it. And to be honest, listening to MGS1 and even Twin Snakes voice acting and then MGS4 and Peace Walker. People are correct, he pushes his voice too much to make it sound gravely and gritty.

How? Ground Zeroes is one release. Phantom Pain is a second release. The two releases together make up the entire MGS5 experience/game.


Also their reinvention of the series sounds amazing.

I hope it's an expansion of the freedom of MGS3 in carrying out missions different ways.

Wanna infiltrate that base? If you do it at night maybe there are less guards, or if you find a way to shut off the power it turns off searchlights but makes doors unfunctional so you'd have to sneak in via another route. Stuff like that!

I swore off EA games (well, didn't realize I had at first, hadn't bought an EA game all generation, then with everything with Sim City I made it official) and haven't boughten anything of theirs in years.

So by all means, keep a log and take note so you can "make a fool" out of me. Just promise me when you do and I don't buy it, you'll send me a PM appologizing for making a big scene over this (yes, a PM. Again, it's the straw that broke the camel's back. I've quit playing many games and watching many shows/movies when a favorite character of mine has been replaced or their actor changed. Is it a good enough reason for you? Maybe not. But it is to me so... *shrug*

I have nothing against Kojima for making this change, it's his baby and he can do what he wants with it. I've said the same thing of Lucas making unpopular changes to Star Wars. But just because I'm okay with them making the changes they want to the things they've made doesn't mean I'm willing to continue to support it.

I guess Ill be waiting for the GOTY edition when I can get Ground Zeroes and TPP on one disc. I havent played the MGS series but I plan to start on Vita. This Haytergate stuff doesn't affect me, Im indifferent. Sad to see a piece of the franchise history go though.
