I don't think he should get fired, but I
absolutely think that people should be taking this more seriously then "LOL its OK he just got trolled by Kamiya." We have journalists that
A) Think its acceptable to use Twitter as a source for news.
B) Are in such a rush to get a story up they don't even bother to fact check.
This is exactly the type of shit people need to hold people accountable for. It shouldn't be treated like a joke.
You see, you make fair points, but then you make a statement like the bolded that makes me think Michael Futter is reporting on some kind of life-or-death news that has now adversely effected thousands of lives.
He hasn't.
This was a gaffe that was quickly corrected and the writer apologized for. No one was damaged over it, other than the originator of the story who got a little egg on his face.
He's had a brief moment of embarrassment and has likely learned an important lesson from it. If I didn't visit GAF so often, I wouldn't know Kamiya trolls constantly. I would know Kamiya is a famous game designer that addressed a release question
directly on his Twitter. Should Mr. Futter have done a little more research on Kamiya's posting habits? Sure... but come on. Thinking he should be fired, is an example of 'lol game journalism', and/or have his integrity reduced to a pile of shit over something like this is, IMO, comically over-exaggerated.
