If Sony thought having DRM would keep EA from cozying up to Microsoft, Sony would've taken DRM further than MS, but Sony don't give a fuck about no EA anymore. Sony made its bet on indies, and if EA wanna be a bitch about it, Sony could moneyhat Konami for dat PES and Take Two for dat NBA2K.
It ain't all peaches and roses for EA and Microsoft just because of some unprecedented partnership and NFL deal. There are many other pieces in play, Sony will make sure of that.

EA, or anyone else, isn't abandoning anyone. Shareholders aren't down with limiting the market based on some fairy-tell dream of defeating evil pirates and used sales. Thats handing the market over to the competition.

Madden *NEEDS* the PS4 sales, guy. Ubisoft and Activision all *NEED* the PS4 sales. Do you think Xbox One is going to sell 10 million copies of Madden 2014/2015 by itself? Do you think the shareholders will suffer the decrease in sales, profits, etc? Come on, now.
If anything, EA risks pissing Sony off. If I were Sony, do you know how hard I would be on the phone with Konami and Take Two right now? I would be making them feel special like their name was CD Projekt Red.

Your thinking like there are already tens of millions of ps4s out there. But not a single one is sold. The ps4 can be still born before its even launched if developer support isn't there.
In the states if it doesn't get Madden and the xbox does at launch people will buy the xbox which means there will be fewer ps4s out there which means it makes it easier to not publish other games on the platform.
The majority of the profits for EA will be on the xbox 360 and ps3 for the next 2 years.
I'm not sure why you'd think that even would be an option since EA already announced it for PS4.

Its allways an option. Games are canceled all the time. Anyway if you read my post you would see what I was replying to. The notion that only sony has bargaining power and not EA is insane . IF EA wants drm then sony will allow them to do it.
Guy, are you really fully aware of how business cycles work? PS4 and Xbox One are launching in the same holiday. The race to its first 10 million for Xbox One is not going to be as easy as it was for Xbox 360 in its first year. And now EA needs Madden to sell more than ever before, especially in the wake of mass layoffs. Do you think companies just pull CEO resignations out of their ass because it's fun?
You wanna talk about developer support? Bungie is debuting Destiny gameplay at Sony's E3 conference. CD Projekt Red and Capcom won't even confirm Witcher 3 and Deep Down for Xbox One, inexplicably. So there's no sound logic for how you can come to the conclusion that developer support isn't (or won't be) there.
To take a line out of your book, people will buy the PS4 which means there will be fewer Xbox One systems to sell Madden exclusives on.

once again in 2013 ea will make very very little money off either of the two systems. They will make money off the ps3 and xbox 360 .
Xbox wont fail as much as everyone here wants it too for some reason.
Sony could have come out and said they wont block used games in anyway nor have drm in anyway on their games but they choose not to say that.

In that case I'd love to hear a European lawyer voice their opinion on the legality of this. Sounds very suspicious that a person cannot loan their disc to a family member across the country without being there in person to active it.
Edited: Unless MS allows free transfer of licence to another account. But not sure that'll happen.

Guy... Sony has already said that they won't require an internet connection to play PS4. They said it in an interview the day following their PS4 reveal.
How are they going to enforce DRM without a mandatory internet connection? With a magic stick up consumers' ass?

lmao, EA are in position to abandon Sony. Have you read their financials man, pretty much half their revenue on consoles comes from Sony. Their investors will not be happy.

This is the guy when Sony didn't show off the console itself said "that's one way to unveil a new console" or something to that effect. He certainly showed us how MS shows off a console, pushing gamers aside, anti-consumer acts shrouded as "features", and "answers" to questions raised from the event that made things even more confusing and/or cryptic.

Nah. People -- gamers in particular -- have a very, very short fucking memory. If the games deliver and they find a way to get past this used games/borrowing policy that doesn't shit on consumers, nobody will remember this.

Indeed, you only need to look at how quickly the Sim City debacle was forgotten about. Sites moved on, gamers moved on too. Some are still bitter, but the majority just went back to playing the game when it was finally working and forgot all about the fact that it didn't work on release.
Saying that, this does have the makings of possibly lasting longer depending on how they handle it when they next talk about it.
Do you think Microsoft would prefer that we stopped talking about the Xbox One altogether? We won't, and the negativity will cloud all our discussions about it until there's something more interesting to talk about.
I am seriously completely dumbfounded by how badly Microsoft handled this. They knew this was a sore issue and they should either have explained fully or not talked about it all, period. You know what just hit me? Once a year, me and seven friends retire to a friend's cabin. We normally bring a Wii and PS3, and the main event is the Mario Party 7 drinking game. We're there for some days, barbeque, sunbathe, swim and play games.
The Xbone will be excluded from this, won't it? I can't bring my console, and other people their games (as we do now). We're moving further and further away from owning the things we buy, and I'm just further displeased by the Xbone with this.

Nope its just wishful fanboys and their exaggeration without even waiting to get information in the first place. Sony has not said anything. in fact they did not even want to address it back in feb at all people will get back to reality when the facts come out it always happens that way.
Neither does xbox one. It only needs internet to check authentication because you can play games without the disc not to play games that statement is very misleading that you're making. Secondly it only needs to check once a day per the information that's out there and its not official yet at all. So as far as I am concerned it could mean the same for both. They both don't require internet to play games doesn't mean they both wont require it to authenticate games.
