Actually, you can see a reflection at the top one near the dam. You can see the reflection of some of the concrete.

When you get to the 1:18 mark watch on the right side where the water meets the concrete you will see the water cascading with a small ripple effect against the concrete.

Am I crazy for thinking the up close facial animations look bad? The models are high res and all but the animations are really poor and unconvincing

It's definitely not just you. The motion (in terms of how the muscle and bone moves beneath the skin) look way off, despite having awesome amounts of detail. The animation system looks similar to what was used in the pre-recorded Killzone 3 sequences (with a bit of improvement). It sort of reminds me of how a rubber layer with motions coming through might look.

The explosions in this game are very similar to what they showed in the Killzone 2 reveal. I like the look of them a lot. There is a video of multiplayer where the player shoots down a drone, reminded me of K2 CG reveal there as well.

Most of the explosion s are not actually volumetric smoke effects, but rather recordings of volumetric smoke in 2d sprites over layed in and played back. Looks great though.

Strange to infer so much from so little. Watch the trailer. I disagree by the way, I think it looks better than the reveal in many ways, mainly texture detail and lighting.

Don't suggest you to take a conclusion without even watching the trailer. People have already explained that it's the lightening itself that gives the impression that there was a downgrade.

I'd be more worried about facial animations. The last segment was pretty hilarious with that guy moving his mouth like that.

BF 4 looks a bit like an interacive cutscene to me....I mean everything looks scripted to the nth degree. The trailer didnt impress me, even though the visuals are good, it seems a bit creatively bankrupt.
