It's likely not going to be as bad as Xbone's issues, but yes. It's looking like both systems are being pushed out the door to make it to store shelves for the Holidays, when a Spring launch would have been better for both.

Do we have much saying it's not likely to be as bad, or is it just optimism at this point? Not trying to bash, but just wondering.

You know, in a way this is bad news for even us Sony fanboys. Healthy competition is good competition - the further Microsoft pushed the boundaries, the further Sony would, and vica versa. To hear yet another problem regarding the Xbone is definitely a little worrying. How is it now two of the big three have fallen so far out of line with today's core gamer?

I for one am scared of entering a generation with one clearcut winner - part of the reason this gen has had the diversity it has is because of the closeness in competition between the varying companies and the need to try outdo each other. What will happen without this?

There is still plenty of competition from mobile.

Has this video, talking about Microsoft's embargo for Ghosts, been discussed yet? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgKBuBPs0ZY&feature=youtu.be

Microsoft's Embargo Prohibits Journalists From Revealing Call Of Duty: Ghosts Is 720p On Xbox One?

Several journalists have come forward to confirm that there is an embargo in place for Call of Duty: Ghosts, separate from Activision's embargo for the game that is due up on November 5th.

According to Gamepur, former IGN journalist and current editor at Furious Fanboys, Jeremy Conrad, has come forward to spill the beans about all the secrecy surrounding the final resolution for Call of Duty: Ghosts on the Xbox One, after partaking in a recent media tour and getting hands on time with both consoles.

? ME2 was rumored for a long time before it was 'leaked'
and everyone thought it was to be a bone exclusive, no clue why.
I certainly was not at all surprised when mirrors edge 2 was announced.

So what you're saying is, everytime I mention a cboat rumor that was confirmed, you said you weren't surprised. Is this how this is going to go?

cboat is a trusted resource on here by the administration staff for good reason.

Not sure about the video but Conrad has been vocal on twitter and referred to in this thread and others about the 720p-gate.

The last time we had a clearcut winner we got PS2.
And then PS1 before that.

i had few (mainly on PS3). I think people don't get whole problem. It is not that there will be occasional crash once every week or month. If rumors are true and OS have major problems you will have to deal with it daily.

And as f said this could go on for weeks or months.

i wasn't talking about the xbox one in any way.
If the rumors are true, then yes, it's hell.

Yes, i also had ps3 crashes. And i'll probably be getting some on WiiU in the future.
Not yet though

It was asked in an interview post-Gamescom with someone from GG, probably Eric.

And yes, they said it was a live-demo, with a bunch of GG-devs playing against Shu, with strict orders to not shoot him.
This is not a test, this is rock-and-roll!

No, I'm pretty sure a Holiday launch is fine for the PS4. Nothing out of the ordinary with its path.

Xbox One talks to people. It will sell itself to consumers this November. It doesn't need any retailers or sales clerks.

Yeah your right...Lol I forgot that..Infact I can see the I.Robot reference now...The 3 laws will be broken!!!

it was already running. i guess pause/resume was a working feature in that build of the OS.

That is a feature we expect to see in the PS4 OS on 11/15. What isn't going to make it for launch is the ability to put the console to sleep, and turn it on later exactly where you were in a game.

But pausing a game, going into your web browser, and then going back into your game, should be nearly instant.

the last couple of XB1 one adds I saw on TV last couple of days didn't give release dates.... Just saying.

Please stop with the FUD. Their own website is still proclaiming 11/22 as the release date right now.

Man - I'd love to be a fly on the wall during some of the meetings at MS today.

MS Engineers:
We still don't know if we can resolve these issues before launch. We need more time.

MS Suits:
You WILL get this fixed by launch if we have to tape your eyes open and work you in 36 hour shifts. We are launching on November 22nd, period.

The meddling from upper management is so obvious in this console. They were hell bent on launching with Sony when they clearly were not ready. I think this is going to be a mega PR disaster for them come November.

That's reassuring, given some of the rumors floating around.

The rumors were only just stating that everything on the PS4 would not be flawless either, which should be an expectation everyone holds for any major electronic device release. Steam OS and boxes won't have a flawless launch either. People took cryptic messages that everything isn't rosy for Sony either to mean they have major problems, which is not what was said. People always jump to major problems when it could just be small issues.

Goddamn, I almost feel sorry for the Xbox PR team at this point. This is like the worst possible scenario for anyone in that profession.

I don't think anyone's criticizing them as much as the decisions that led to this point. Believe me being a code monkey and not understanding why you have to do something but putting in 100-120 hour weeks is not healthy nor good and if things turn out well at launch or right afterwards they better reward those people.

For sure, I feel sorry for the coders having to clean up this shit. Hopefully they're not salaried and can actually get OT. These things are a result of bad decisions by management, in multiple facets.

Is multiplayer going to work for XBL during launch? Or is it just the party/friends stuff that is causing problems?

It's probably going to be very similar to Diablo 3, Sim City and GTA Online, as in completely broken for an extended period.

I just can't really believe the system is as bad as described by the enthusiast press reporter. If I'm wrong then I made the wrong choice going with Xbox one over ps4.

And teabagged him.

edit: personally I could never teabag Shu though <3

I know nothing regarding MS that I can say with any amount of confidence so I'm the wrong person to ask this question. I am going to assume their multiplayer will work at launch. It would be pretty insane if it didn't.

Could you imagine? Twitter. Twitter everywhere.

Because MS is fucking up on a huge scale. Again and again. Thats why this is news. If Sony fucked up people would be mad at them.

But all signs show that they are "messing up" too or else they wouldn't have such a console feature oriented update at launch... right?

Is this "news" because it's worse than what's typically expected?

I think it's pretty obvious/blatant that both next gen consoles will have issues in this area at launch. Just trying to get/understand where the controversy (for lack of a better way to put it) is coming from.

Because almost everything you claim are buying the xbox one platform for (Snap, Xbox live matchmaking etc, Smartglass integration) May be broken at launch and may take months to fix.

Of all the xbox one fans on this forum, id expect this news to give you the most amount of pause as it means that the xbox one will not even close to the all in one multitasking machine you want it to be yet.

If true.

I mean, at this point it's pretty obvious it's the wrong choice for plenty of reasons other than this.. but yeah.

If this fiasco led to Microsoft plummeting in sales compared to Sony I think they would pull out of the market. If they did that I think the comparison would be a poor one.

Yes we'd have all the major companies on one platform, but in that era, despite Sony dominance, there existed strong competition fueling Sony's innovation because sega, Nintendo and the soon to be Microsoft insured Sony couldn't rest on its laurels just yet.

If Microsoft goes Sony only has to contend with a struggling Nintendo that has almost relegated itself to niche status releasing gen old hardware.

Well played kind sir - though I would rate this past in terms of diversity a fair amount higher than either of those. This past would be the first generation where instead of holing myself up in one genre, say platformers for both examples, I explored outside my comfort zone. Call it maturity, maybe even changing tastes, but my palette expanded this time around. Personally, I place that on how well some games were crafted, which often that not seemed to be the exclusives on either side

All I want is the MP to be working good.. Or else I'm going to have to put myself on hold for the XBO.

Why are you trying to create equivalence that doesn't exist? The situations are only similar in that they're both launching consoles in the next month. There simply isn't the info backing up major issues around PS4's network at this point.
