I can't even

Whuuuuh.

So basically every other country is inexplicably evil now. Except Japan. Alrighty

This is awesome.

Japan also turns out to be a crummy place as the series progresses. It's a crappy world is basically Lelouch's excuse for being a sociopathic monster who will do anything to prove to daddy how big his dick has gotten.

Paging Corvo: IT BEGINS

That's always the way it goes, imo, it's not exactly a new formula.

Man, All I need is to see his reaction to one episode.

Well, USA actually makes sense being the top dog.

What kind of resources are unique to Japan, anyway?

I should note I'm watching the dub, list-style and everything.

Also I'm using my phone, so no funny screencaps :p

Everyone has a silly voice. I can barely take anyone seriously!

I'm kinda confused at why Suzuku couldn't hear Lelouch in his mecha, especially since he had heard his adult voice like five minutes ago.

In Geass, Japan has a large supply of Sakuradite. Think of this as Gundanium, Adamantium, or any other made up element. The point is that it is a magical resource that makes Japan important.

Non Non Biyori: 01

This episode kind of drug on. But this was a case of where that wasn't a bad thing. It's so adorable...

Also lol at linking ANN when they're reporting 2nd hand news the same in the two links above.
Because maybe some people would prefer an English-language news article? It's not like the presence of the ANN link negates the previous two sources. Also, it contains a decent summary of the game and I didn't feel like copy-pasting it.

Non Non Byori 1-4

Finally decided to start this one. Wasn't sure what to expect, but the opening of the first episode told me this was going to be something special. The backgrounds are gorgeous, the music is incredible, and the characters are endearing and adorable. This Fall season of anime has been great so far. Every time I pick up some random show, I find something new to like.

Seitokai Yakuindomo OVA 8
So first is teaching about maids,
then studying session
then finale to the squid smell joke
then hot springs and first sunrise of the year
overall, a funny show. too bad this is the final...

[Hyouka] 1 - 9

It's pretty crazy to think that KyoAni were making something this good only a year ago. Look at them now...

They stopped doing adaptations of other people's properties and started doing their own IPs and bang, the quality of their work shot down. Another example of business and art at odds with each other.

Kyoukai No Kanaadnsdnsd 06

This episode went full retard. In the bad way. I had to endure that idol scene. This was basically the show's attempt at making a comedy/throw away episode. Its bad attempts at humor was what was making me dislike the show and now there's a whole episode of it. I don't know if I want to live anymore.

I need more MM! to wash away the bad taste. Help me forget Taro-kun!

Wait wait wait. In Hyouka the cafe that Oreki and Chitanda visit is called Pineapple Salad? Why didn't I notice this before:

Could this be a reference to thee famous pineapple salad from SDF Macross?

If so that's really weird.

I always thought that was pineapple cake? Frikkin' translations. Maybe it was only a Pineapple Cake in Macross Frontier (which paid morbid homage to the original series).

I still need to get around to watching the OVAs.... And yet I'm so hyped for season 2!

They did for me as well, but I can't just pretend the ride ends with the anime's ending if this is the official canon ending now. I need to keep chugging along, for better or worst.

KyoAnus Presents Sword Fart Offline - Episode 6

This episode was actually pretty good. It's completely retarded. It's an episodic gag story. It has singing. It has dancing. It has costumes. It has dirty jokes. It has shower scenes. Truly the pinnacle of KyoAnus' existence. Lulz.

[Kyoukai no Kanata] - 6

I don't want to shock anyone too badly, but this episode was actually pretty good. They dropped all attempts to go for any serious drama and instead went for full on comedy and a completely stupid scenario. The montage, in particular, was pretty amazing.

Of course, the preview shows that next week we're going back to the 'story' so look forward to that.

But Kyoukai no Kanata, Chunibyo etc are also adaptions?

They're adaptations of IPs Kyoto Animation own because they publish crappy indie type Light Novels as well, generally from material submitted via their annual writing contests (which incidentally they never award grand prizes to, so that speaks volumes as to what they personally feel about the quality of the content).

Even knowing the movie takes a dump on the ending of the anime, I'll still watch it because.... well just because.

Well the director says the movies and TV series are different in of themselves, so I guess you could call the movie an alternate ending. If you really want to stretch it.

I don't know if I really want to. The spoilers killed my hype completely.

I feel like I went through the five stages of grief with those spoilers.

Denial: That...couldn't be the real ending. No, the spoilers are fake.

Anger: SCREW YOU UROBUCHI WHY'D YOU HAVE TO GO AND DO THAT.

Bargaining: There's going to be an alternate ending on the BD right? RIGHT?!?

Depression: The entire franchise...is worthless now.

Acceptance: Aw well, this direction could be interesting I guess. I'll just compare it to another show I really like, and suddenly I'm okay with this!

So, in essence, they are just being cheap? Well, I guess I knew that to be the case, but It's weird that a studio so prolific when it comes to the technical stuff seems to have so little actual ambition. A true dead end for creativity. I wonder what the workplace atmosphere is over there.

I don't think it's just being cheap really. In an industry where profit margins can be really slim, it can really make a huge difference owning a successful IP rather than producing something successful for a bigger publisher. I think they're doing what they feel is best for the company. It's just unfortunate that the material is so... awful.

Also speaking of movie spoilers, has anybody seen the Anohana movie? I wont get a chance to watch it for a long time so I wanted to know what happens to poor Menma.

Hopefully Space Dandy is successful so we can get more anime co-financed and simulcast on TV in the west. Although it seems unlikely they'd even think about that for a lot of directors not named Watanabe.
