I don't know if any of your piercing people might be able to give me advice, but I got an ear piercing on my low helix about... 9 months ago? and it's still incredibly painful if I bump it or it catches on my hair. I can't sleep on my right side because of the discomfort. It's kind of decreasing as time goes on and I like it but I'm wondering if it's worth the effort. Are all cartilage earrings supposed to feel this way?

Just bought some Twinkies off USAFoods.

After how much the Americans hype them, they better be good.

To be fair, Americans don't hype them, I was always hyped for Twinkies from all the Twinkie ads I kept seeing in comics as I was growing up.

Finally got to America, ran to the nearest 7/11, grabbed a Twinkie, tore the wrapper off and inhaled that bad-boy and I was like - oh, is that it? :(

What kind of problems? I'm using win7 x64 since 2011, no issues here.
I'm talking about those Logitech 930 headphones specifically, but things like them dropping out, not properly working if you have UAC on (I do, ever since I went on holiday and a virus mysteriously appeared while someone was housesitting), not being detected, having to reconnect each time the PC comes out of standby, having to use older drivers which, if you have other Logitech gear means you need to use older drivers for that stuff too, etc.

My copy of Lego City Undercover from Mwave appeared.

It was a European copy ("USK ab 6 freigegeben"), not the Australian copy pictured on the website. Not that it particularly matters. Also it came with a lego figurine of Chase McCain, which I had missed on the webpage so that was a nice surprise.

rBitVb0l.jpg

Also, returning the copy I bought from EB was a different process from the last time I did it (years ago). They said I had to sign up to their rewards card...

I like it too (I've been playing a bit on another copy for the past week). The personality in the writing and the exploration around the hidden stuff around the city are the two things that impress me, 5% in.

Seriously? You would be happy with that? I can get scheming on a way to make the Minister of Finance agree to this most amazing transaction if so!!!!

Maybe I can tell her it will stream girly TV shows to the PS4 way better than it did with the PS3. I CAN FIND A WAY.

EDIT: I'll also be in Lara next weekend doing a family thing so that would lineup timewise perfectly.
If you can't work it out, I'll give her a good home :)

EA are fucking hopeless, the new consoles can't run their game at 60fps so they make the machines that can suffer.
Or, looking at it a different way, they've succeeded in creating a much more consistent experience on every platform. Particularly if the game is cross platform, having it consistent would be important from their point of view.

If that was the case there shouldn't be a 360/PS3/WiiU version.

edit: and they certainly haven't applied the same logic to BF4, runs and looks better on PC (albeit still with the same multiplayer bugs)

One of my favourite cut scenes has to be early on, when they're all in the detective meeting room / conference room. that entire scene.. so good

Or they could lower the graphical fidelity to keep the performance the same. Doesn't really excuse locking it in the first place when PC gamers expect these things, but I'm sure they have reasons that seem perfectly good to them.

Different studio etc...

I am sure they do have a reason, incompetence, not wanting the PC to overshadow the new consoles, laziness. Not sure which but probably one of them. It's a frostbite 3 game, so it certainly isn't a limitation of the engine.

Different studio etc...

Sure, but they did get help from Criterion so it's not like they went into this blind. The same thing happened with Need for Speed The Run, came out at 30fps locked on PC, later on it was unlocked via a patch, lets see if that happens again.

edit: here's there original justification on it:

Ghost founder and Rivals executive producer Marcus Nilsson said the development team opted to target 30fps instead of 60fps because of the racing game's new AllDrive feature.

AllDrive is the system used to seamlessly matchmake players within the same open world city. In the game, players can bump into each other whether they're completing Assignments as a cop, Speed Lists as a Racer, or just exploring.

"It is a choice we made to be able to push what we believe is really important for our typical gamer: get a lot of things happening on the screen at the same time," Nilsson told Eurogamer.

"Anything can happen in AllDrive. That's the key innovation with this game. You don't have single-player, co-op or multiplayer. It just happens seamlessly.

"I could be playing the game, setting a time, and all of a sudden you could come into that world, and you could be carrying AI, I could be carrying AI, and all of a sudden, on that screen, there are a lot of cars. We always have to budget for the worst case scenario.

"So in this case we've prioritised the gameplay, because we think 30fps is giving a satisfactory experience."

What a crock of shit. PC gaming is about options, let the gamers define what is important to enjoyment. Not everyone is going to be able to hit 30fps (especially with older PC's, not to mention Internet related issues.) so isn't that the same problem of people not being able to hit 60fps?

Pledged for the book, but if we don't get a Presidog Anthology or Perverted Chocolate Bar Christmas Special out of this, I'll be cross.

I'm halfway through writing "Henry The Sexually Perverted Chocolate Bar: Super Spy"...hopefully for 2014 :) And I am now SMITTEN with the idea of making Presidog plushies. Let me get through this project in one piece first :) Thanks for backing!

gratz on becoming a ks millionaire gazunta! it's nice to see such a genuine little ks project for once:)

Thanks Deek! I think after fees and printing costs it works out to ks dozenaire hahahah

Damn Gaz, nice work on the KS! Congratulations!

Thanks DM! It's incredible how kind everyone has been.

$1000 for a kick starter? The PA guys dont even KS themselves out of bed for that much!

Hahah very true.

Man I remember when they first started asking for donations on their site like 15 years ago. Good on them for their success.

I have a metric fuckload of early Hyper magazines that is pretty much complete, up until they well and truly went to shit (I think I stopped subscribing around issue ~120 or so)... or at least, weren't a patch on the old days.

I never look at them and I'd rather give them to someone who'd appreciate them, if you don't just collect UK mags :)

BTW Anything come from that Twitter mention to those retro online sites? I can only hope it did, they seemed genuinely excited about it :D

Thanks man. Yeah I mainly just limit myself to the UK mags. I think the only Australian mags I have are ones where I wrote something in it or there's a game I worked on covered in it. I never got into the Australian game reviewer scene - always seemed to be the same 10 guys all hanging out with each other in Sydney. That kinda formed my "I better look overseas if I'm ever going to become a game reviewer" mentality that ended up saving my ass :)

And yes thank you for spreading the word to those guys! That reminds me I have some emails I need to reply to now hahah. God damn I love the retro gaming scene at the moment. So many genuinely enthusiastic people.

I wonder if he realises that "satisfactory" in most people's eyes is barely above a fail. So, we gon' see reviews of Rivals on PC that only give it 5/10? Kritz' first ever 2.5-star game?!?

Or you know, if they believe it's core to the online experience, let people change the framerate in the offline mode (you can choose to not play with other people).

Backed, for a little bit more than I probably should have. Don't tell Fiona.

You're a fucking madman, and I love you, and your secret is safe with me.

$35 away from $2,000 stretch goal Gaz. Better start working on the $3,000 stretch goal!

oh what the fuuuuuuuuuck! I put the $2k up going YEP THAT'LL BE THE END OF THIS TRAIN RIDE!

OK. I've got something cool up my sleeve :)

Oh damn. I could pay $80 to tell people that burnout 3 is the best game ever in gaz's book.

Tempted.

Shit dude, I tell people that for free every damn day. The wife and I played the ever living crap out of that game. I miss Crash Mode :(

WHICH REMINDS ME

I'm very disappointed at the appalling lack of love Burnout Paradise seems to be getting in the Internet's latest batch of 'best games of the previous generation' lists. God DAMN I poured some serious amounts of time into that game, and the new content updates kept me going for a solid year. It only juuuuust loses out to Crackdown because, while Burnout Paradise DOES offer the ability to jump off buildings, there are no homing missiles.

Awesome game, I played a tonne of it on 360 with a mate over XBLive.

Need to do some AusGAF multiplayer nights with the PC version.

The Cops and Robbers Pack and Big Surf Island were never released for PC, and since the PC servers were shut down around a year later, PC users can no longer purchase downloadable content from the in-game Burnout Store.

Did that include multiplayer?

Burnout Paradise is the best arcade racer ever made.

Also, I stopped buying Hyper a few years ago when they ran a 2 page spread one of the staff getting married and having a video game themed wedding. Ugh, don't waste the pages I am paying for. I can get that stuff for free online.

Apparently not...

"There are no servers required to play this game online. The servers' only purpose was hosting the store. We all play the game in offline mode. To play online, press the numpad keys to bring up the Freeburn online mode where you will search for other other players' lobbies or start your own lobby."

Hopefully we can just use someone with good net as the host and have everyone join their lobby.

CRACKDOWN

BP and Crackdown came out so long ago (2007/2008) and despite both being great, didn't make the impact of the Mass Effects/ Fallouts/ Skyrims/SMG/Gears of War/Uncharted of the world

so many lists are made by people with short memories.

What was I talking about?

I'm so jizzed about Doctor Who's 50th this week. That's not a typo 40.

No chance pinball man! I can negotiate my way into anything!

Also Crash mode was awesome. I liked Paradise but it wasn't the Burnout I wanted. Was a lot more fun when tthey patched restarts into it.

Best Burnout was Burnout Legends. Easily clocked 100+ hours into it :)

That's weird for an EA game, though post Autolog we probably won't get that anymore. Awesome all the same, means we can always play it :D

Burnout 3 crash mode... why would you do that? WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!

Seriously, crash mode in Burnout 2 towers above Burnout 3. Also, Burnout 2 split screen racing is far superior if you're into that. Just go get a copy of Burnout 2.

Would that still be classed as an arcade racer? Weren't they a bit more simmy and aiming for rally realism? Obviously there are no hard and fast sub genre buckets, but I found the early Colin McRae games hard to get into because I have no patience for technical driving, I just want to throw a car around the track and ram into people.
