Killer Instinct looks so fun. I am sticking with my PS4 but you guys on the other side sure do have an awesome piece of hardware to look forward to in a couple days. Controller looks sexy, and that battery life is crazy nice.

I'll have to wait until after christmas to jump in.

In the mean time I'll continue to drool over KI.

Check out a Microsoft store and see if it's in their demo unit. Although that might just makes things worse...

I like how Wired puts it:

Is there some kind of consensus yet? Just woke up.

Voice commands have a learning curve, and it seems like it isn't perfect.

Some apps load slowly in snap.

No storage options is weird, though savedata roams in skydrive.

Maybe no 5.1 audio for the HDMI in, though it seems like its in Beta and will be coming soon.

I will be on this train once MS drops the Kinect out of the box but seriously, enjoy the launch, its fun and something we only get to experience once every 7 years or so. I had a blast with the PS4 launch and you guys should have it the same! Enjoy.

Quiet, powerful and a work in progress.

Kind of the same description I would give both systems right now lol.

If you're worried about voice commands watch this video:

It's a BETA option that seems to default on off that you can turn on when you get your Xbox One.

Well on the other hand one has to hate how HDTV manufacturers fooled people into believing that upscaling was terrible and always looks ugly.

Seriously. I've never had problems with upscaling on either my TV or my computer monitor, the end result always looks decent, even with PS2 games.

guys, need help on this, i didn't grab the language stuff that much

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=90582941&postcount=308

and it's really worrying me

Set console region as US and have no more worries.(Regions can be changed at any time.)

As of launch your language is stuck with the region you choose as default.

Here is the thing though, if you want to buy something on the US marketplace you will need a pre-paid card or credit card with a billing address from the US.

so it's actually true that setting my console as Italian will force my console to use that language for games and everything else?

ok this sucks hard...i might choose UK at this point, it should be easier this way...

If you get a prepaid card from the US and just put money on it for Xbox Live purchases you should have no problems. You won't be able to use a credit card with a Italian billing address on the US marketplace, however I believe if you purchase a game on the Italian marketplace and switch to US as a region you should be able to play that game as they are not region-locked.

Any country that speaks English as a main language should work for you but the good news is that down the road you will be able to change language settings within regions.

Should we start posting our setups for how we're going to setups our Xbox One's?

Mainstream media seems really impressed. Nearly every review I've read has referred to it as futuristic or the future.

Some mainstream sites were really definitive in saying the Xbox One was definitely the best choice this holiday:

NBCNews said:
The Xbox One really is a compelling piece of hardware, complete with a strong lineup of launch games. And that's more than I could say for Sony's PlayStation 4, which arrived last Friday.

... if you're really craving a new system now — or need something to bring home to the kids — the Xbox One is your best bet.

Fortune said:
If the Xbox One isn't already near the top of your holiday wish list, it should be.

RollingStone said:
Sony's PS4 is not the entertainment hub we were expecting. But Microsoft's next-gen gaming console unifies your gaming, movie and TV watching under one voice-controlled roof

Associated Press said:
The images in the games I tried are on par with the PS4's — as detailed and realistic as anything yet produced by a living-room console.

"Forza Motorsport 5," the latest auto racing simulator from Microsoft's Turn 10 Studios, takes full advantage of the Xbox One's graphic oomph. You can see the attention to detail in every car. From the driver's seat, you can read every instrument on the dashboard. The beauty extends to the gorgeous environments, from the Bernese Alps to the streets of Prague to famous racetracks like the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

WashingtonPost said:
And the specs are everything that you may expect of a next-generation console and well matched against newly released PlayStation 4. Xbox One graphics are smooth and fluid, with responsive game play and few glitches.

Microsoft does, however, arguably have a stronger launch lineup of games, bringing heavy-hitters such as “Forza Motorsport 5” and “Ryse: Son of Rome,” which shows the promise and limitations of the Kinect’s potential for gaming.

They all seemed to love Ryse and Forza the best.

I'm expecting Xbox One to do really well this Christmas. Good to see the mainstream focusing on the full experience, it's going to be a hit.

So I have a small problem and was wondering if someone could maybe help. I've been a diehard Xbox person since the original console, but the lacking specs in the Xbox one have made me veer more towards a PS4, but I own neither right now.

The issue is I planned on waiting on a console for about a year to see how they pan out, being that I tend to prefer the Xbox ecosystem and controllers, I was hoping multiplatform stuff would at least be nearly the same, but is there a general consensus on how big the differences are?

The reason I am asking right now is that my girlfriend got a copy of Skylanders for the PS4 based on me saying the multi plat stuff will probably be better on that console in general, but being that Skylanders isn't exactly a top tier showcase, I wasn't sure if the gap was big enough to cause differences in those titles. I haven't even been able to find a comparison for that game at all, but I guess I'm trying to figure out which console i'll be buying first (she bought the game since it was on sale but, there is another, better sale this coming Friday which we could go for the Xbox one version instead).

I guess my fear is getting nerfed and inferior games on a system where I otherwise prefer its features and controller/services, anyone else having conflict or have good insight? This was always so easy on 360 as the games were equal, near equal or better, and for me had the better controller and service, but now it's confusing and frustrating. I also have about 300 bucks in MS points that got converted, when do those expire again?

No one can argue that there is indeed a resolution difference on some games but from what I've seen you'd be hard pressed to tell on a lot of these games to see the difference.

Going into the future you're going to see multiplatforms lead on Xbox One and port to PS4 so you're not going to see a huge difference and honestly I don't think there is a huge difference right now.

Where you will see any difference is on future exclusives but even as of right now RYSE looks just stunning.

Bottom-line as much as I might get hate for this these systems are pretty close and unless you have the versions side-by-side you won't even give it a second-thought.

The more important thing right now is which console is offering the best exclusives, best features, online services and controller for you.

Also Skylanders is going to look exactly the same on both...

That audio test of the headset and cameras done by IGN between the X1 and PS4 is huge at least to my ears. Wow. Was it just me or was there a major difference in quality?

What I got out of it is that the Kinect sounds better than the included microphone... xD

Yeah but the PS4 Camera is basically unusable and the PS4 microphone is incredibly flat and nasty sounding(not surprising considering how it looks.).

Thankfully there are alternatives.

I expect it to do decently this Christmas, but really well going forward, as the word gets out, and especially after the price cut which may or may not be required by this time next year.

Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
Port 80 (TCP)
Port 500 (UDP)
UDP Port 3544 (UDP)
UDP Port 4500 (UDP)

Do you know if the Xbox One version's main portion is played with a controller? Or is the whole thing Kinect-based?

You can play the whole game with Gamepad only. Kinect is only for the animal interactions but even those can be done with the controller.

The main part of the game is controller base and Kinect is used in small ways to enhance the experience. Like you can make funny faces at animals and they will respond in kind and you can also feed animals by holding food up for them.

Listening to the Giant Bombcast, they say the voice stuff is robust and vital to the system, good to hear it works. They added you need to set it up right though...

so xb1 is quieter than the ps4, as expected. so happy they went for a larger size, I'm so done with loud consoles.

and the save/install process where it prioritizes the current level sounds awesome, pretty impressive feature for launch.

Those voice commands look pretty terrible. Hope they improve in the future when I might pick one up, especially since it's a pretty integral part of the system.

Kinda expected in terms of the mainstream they dont really care about games much. Should be interesting to see how it turns out.
