DF: PS4 COD frame judder caused by frame rate HIGHER than 60fps

Hahaha this is great. I almost want to rent this game just b/c I feel IW is due money from the entertainment they are providing.

I really enjoy my PS4.

I've seen this gif thousands of times but I still don't know who it is, could someone end my suffering please. It cracks me up every time.

It's been mentioned a few times now, and although there might be a fix that's just as easy, V-Sync would cause drops to 30fps and increase input lag. The solution to this problem is absolutely not V-Sync. Multiplayer games and V-Sync are typically oil and water.

Triple Buffering + Vsync allows any framerate so 50, 53, 55fps etc. would be possible, the only catch with triple buffering its known to cause slight input lag with certain games, at least on PC.

If you don't live in the US, were born after 1990, and have no interest in Basketball, it absolutely not unreasonable to have never heard of Michael Jordan

I know who he is but I don't recognize him, I was maybe 10 when I watched Space Jam. Maybe he shows up a lot randomly in media in NA, but in Europe he doesn't unless you're into basketball documentaries or something. I probably wouldn't recognize Wayne Gretzky either even though I had lots of hockey cards.

I know. Input lag is a death sentence in MP games though.
But then so is judder.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Call of Duty: Ghosts suffers from consistent framerate drops on the PS4, especially during multiplayer when action got especially hectic. The Xbox One version suffered no such drops, maintaining a steady 60 frames per second throughout
Xbox One score: 7.0
PS4 score: 6.5

And this just proves proves people can't tell the difference.

I wonder if Polygon will update their review if this gets resolved in a patch........riiiiiiight.

There is a good argument to be made. When we get PC reviews, we assume that they are reviewing the best settings on a great PC with the best hardware (except for Gametrailers' classic Crysis review)... maybe TV and monitors refresh rates come into this?

So the rumors where true porting cod took like 3 weeks and running at 90 fps or something like that?

Hopefully Rockstar receives this google alert and starts porting GTAV.

If porting is that simple then this makes me wonder when we will see the floodgates on PS3 releases open. At least release the Batman trilogy on the PS4.

Oh infinity ward

Even when the hardware gives you higher than desired performance it still gives problems

I must say Ghosts has been the biggest rollercoaster for a launch game I have ever seen

Please tell me this is a joke . Our game journalist didn't know first it was 720p and now that it was actually greater than 60fps?

Seriously . This is pathetic

Some of your responses are extremely idiotic. Frame rate problems are frame rate problems, despite the cause. Yes, reviews should dock points for frame hiccups even if it's due to a game pushing frames above a refresh rate. Some of these posts seem to suggest the game should earn points for this. That's the definition of stupid.

It's beyond pathetic and really disappointing.

This news came in great time, I just purchased the PSN version.

Well, we were waiting for word from DF and here it is. A final twist in the tale!

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/d...xed-and-whats-not-in-the-cod-ghosts-ps4-patch

BAM! How bizarre.
Still needs fixed, of course.

Ok, I finished playing COD Ghosts last night on my PS4 and I was pretty impressed with it. Yes, I've gotten both (I think only two?) updates for it but I noted no frame hitching or issues of any kind. Ran like BUTTER. Actually, I DID notice a couple of hitches but those were super short and were actually in the FMV segments between missions where it blacks out portions of the map, etc. while the voice over talks. That's it. Everything I've played so far is super smooth in frame rate and I've noted absolutely NO performance issues whatsoever.

I did notice one instance of pop in while defending an air craft carrier in the game, but that was it.

I'm trying to figure out how this can happen. I'm guessing some quirk of parallelism, but I'm trying to figure out how game logic and render can integrate in such a way that lags are felt.

Since they were saying that they had distinct frames every time, I guess that means the drops are on the game logic side? What actually *are* the frame rate drops in this regard?

So you guys assume that everyone who visits GAF is 'Murican? USA = The World, LOL.

I'm from the EU and before this thread I had no idea who's the guy in that gif. Well, now I know. I knew that there is a basketball player called Michael Jordan, but that's it. What if I show you some world famous football (soccer) player? You probably wouldn't recognize him.

Polygon: PS4 COD runs 1080p at over 60 fps: 0.5 points lower.

Don't forget they can still update their reviews. If SimCity changed there should be no reason why they shouldn't change this score.

So? hes completely right and dont pretend hes not. I live in south america and i have no clue who all the people in those gifs are.

Most people in the USA cant recognise famous football players, most people in the rest of the world cant recognise basketall players from the USA.

They probably wouldn't be as famous as MJ was. Yes even Messi or Ronaldo, the closest you could get would be Maradona or Pele.

You have never been a big basketball fan, were you?

Michael Jordan. I'm probably beaten many times already.

Even though Basketball is the #2 or 3 (don't know if its bigger than baseball) sport in the US, I still recognize Micheal Jordan yet I can't name a single Hand egg player past or present despite being a bigger sport.

He's one of those athletes that transcends his sport into the public spotlight (with a lot of help from Nike obviously) like Ali, Woods, Federer.

oh wow that's good.

So what is the deal here? Polygon knocked it for being inferior, except that it wasn't in any testable way?

My guess is that Polygon played the PS4 version of Ghosts before the 1080p patch was released. This increased the amount of perceived judder, since the framerate would be WAY above 60fps when running at 720p.

This also would explain why the Polygon reviewer had a tough time telling the difference between the PS4 and Xbox One versions, since both of them were actually running at 720p pre-patch.

Was Michael Jordan the one in the Looney Tunes film. If so that is where I know him from. :-D

Also: Lol at the entire situation.
