DF: PS4 COD frame judder caused by frame rate HIGHER than 60fps

You're not understanding this correctly.

The framerate and motion on Ghosts is still not smooth on PS4. The only thing that has changed is our understanding of why.
And it's perfectly smooth on the other platform not running at 1080p? I don't think so. I understood the issue perfectly. This issue is not a reason to score the PS4 version lower.

I don't get it. I want to understand, but I'm too dumb. Anyone feel bad enough for me to explain the joke?

Funny how Sony fans now trust Digital Foundry again.

It was Richard Leadbetter specifically that stirred all the commotion by acting as an MS mouthpiece, getting caught up in nosense like the seven vs. several thing back in summer. There doesn't seem to be any reason to level the same criticisms on the rest of DF, at least not that I recall.

I would say boxing is more of a world sport than basketball, I mean it's got to be right?

And I would also say Ali is more famous than Jordan.

Like I said everyone knows his name but I had no idea that was him in the gif or that he looks like that now.
Wat? IIRC every kids playground has a Baskeatball court - even in Europe - and not many boxing rings. And naturally you associate yourself with thr best player as a kid when you play a sport. So the only possible explanation to not know MJ would be that you did zero sports as a kid, which would be extremely sad.

So, I didn't read to full thread maybe you already talked about it, but why did this happen?
To me it looks like the Ps4 Version was a port based on the XboxOne version and then they had a lot of spare hardware power so they upped the resolution und unlocked the framerate but forgot to ad Vsync.
Then again... I have no clue about tech stuff.

Huh, we played Basketball but I had no idea of who MJ was until that Space Jam movie (which I never saw).

1. I refuse to believe that Michael Jordan is not that well known across the world. I understand NFL players not being world famous, I understand MLB baseball players not being world famous, but Michael Jordan was and IS a global basketball icon. Yes, his heyday was in the 90's. But if anyone watched the Olympics in Barcelona, all that mattered to the majority of the civilized world watching it was the Dream Team and Michael Jordan. I cannot believe that a man that was THAT famous not too long ago is no longer remembered. I understand if you're not a fan of basketball, even - but it is a global enterprise as is Nike and the Jordan brand. Come on now.

2. "Murica" has got to be the goofiest national insult ever - not that there ever is a good one for any nation. Have some respect for yourself. "Murica" is just as intelligent as saying "hurfdurfff". Stop it.

3. I wish IW could just get their stuff together and make a great game work great. The foundation and fan base is there, it is one of the richest properties in the history of the medium. Polish that shit up! Beta test, and get some QA. Out with the patches.

"Hurfdurfff".

So the rumors where true porting cod took like 3 weeks and running at 90 fps or something like that?

Well as far as I'm concerned this is 100% confirmation devs/pubs were planning on crippling PS4 titles for parity. This is effectively proof positive there was no performance related reason for a 720p build of CoD PS4 to exist, never mind make it all the way to gold.

Sometimes I have the same problem when my PC games get above 120fps. It's usually just on older games though...and it's a strange effect that messes with my eyes.

Nope. Basketball just ain't that big in the world. Accept that concept.

Just to add a bit to the discussion, I feel that there's a disturbing lack of people in this industry that actually care about delivering a smooth, consistent gaming experience (judder and input lag being obvious flaws that are often completely ignored by developers).

Examples:

The Witcher 2 - judder
Darksiders 1/2 - massive judder (at least on PC)
Killzone 2 - input lag
Uncharted 3 - input lag, controller deadzone

I could come up with countless other examples but these ones were the first ones that came to mind. The fact that games with such large development teams without anyone really noticing or acknowledging what I consider to be pretty major issues is baffling.

Many pages ago in this thread, a GAFer did not know who Michael Jordan was. And over many twists and turns it has lead to this.

I wonder if they'll add in some AA, improve the LoDs, or add in the PC versions motion blur to get the framerate down.

PC version does not have object motion blur btw. Digital foundry almost has no idea how object motionblur works. The PS4 version has the same motionblur.
