Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

Let's hope they do revamp it all like this thread states. Hell I would be happy if they gave me:

-Guide like x360 (Along with this means viewing parties, friend lists, and achievements all on the fly)
-Friend notifications (But give me options, 1,000 friends popping online is nuts)
-Storage management.

2 Steps backward? Yes. Broken mess? Eh, that's pushing it a bit.

It isn't ideal, but calling it broken isn't exactly true either.

They have so many things to fix already though, they must be putting in a lot of overtime.

Doesn't need to be replaced. It works fine, it's just dumb that you join a party and then manually turn chat on. Aside from that, it's perfectly functional.

By no stretch of the imagination is it going to take a year to fix.

However, titanfall is going to be pushed back to november and the update will release with it for maximum impact.

no insider knowledge, just damn common sense.

... You are aware that basically is calling him a lying sack of shit, right?

Leave that shit to them. It's not our deal. It doesn't personally affect you if he's right or wrong.

Again, all I've done is said that Mort exercised poor judgement in regards to some information he had given the source, and that surely he can see why that would make people skeptical. That hardly constitutes as an attack.

And yes, you're right, it doesn't affect me, but that's because after the CBOAT saga I've learned not to trust any of this stuff until it's official. Unfortunately, I do know people who have altered there decisions based on these rumours given the "strength of the reputation". So yeah, maybe I am just a little salty.

One have two major qualms about GAF insiders including Mort:

1. They aren't insiders and they know far less than any actual insider does.

2. At this point anyone talking to Mort has to know that he is going to share that info with everyone, which calls into question their motivation and also makes it very easy to use him as a conduit for information they want public.

That first issue is just one of somewhat misleading billing. The second one is the key. Judith Miller repeated Iraq information from anonymous sources that told her exactly what she wanted to hear and exactly what they wanted the public to hear. In short she was used, or allowed herself to be used, to convey messages to the public as part of a PR campaign.

When someone tells Mort than the XB1 is unstable and crashing a lot who are they and why are they saying it?

Are they an MS employee that loves MS and the XB1? Probably not. Are they a disgruntled MS employee, someone who wants to see the XB1 fail, a guy at a developer competing with the XB1, someone who gets a kick out of seeing the information they shared go viral? Probably something along those lines.

Any time anyone shared secret info with Mort they must be thinking about it going public and what that means, and must want it to go public. Maybe it started as a guy who knows some people in the industry who share tidbits, but at this point it has to be people using him to get across what they want.

Simply repeating information from anonymous sources is extremely prone to abuse. The guy who said that the XB1 was very unstable - what happened to him? Nothing. He got the message he wanted out there, and when it turned out to be false there were no repercussions.

Edit: A lot of what Mort says comes off to me as basically true, but worded more dramatically than is warranted to make fairly normal issues sound major. It's like how Kotaku contacts the 8 most disgruntled laid-off workers at a dev and prints their office gossip as some sort of expose, billing the sort of stuff you hear at literally every developer (the upper management is fickle and asks for irrelevant changes!) as serious issues.
Good Post.

My money is on Spring. They have a history of releasing dashboard updates in Spring, and it's pretty apparent that they were behind schedule and in crunch time leading up to the release of the Xbox One, and I don't see that hastened schedule slowing down at all considering the list of stuff that was pushed from release to 2014.

-There are other more serious issues that need to be fixed before Party systems will be addressed, such as only having 2.1 sound when using the HDMI input on XB1, among other things.

Hold the heck on. There is no way this is real...no damn way. The Apple TV from day one has had 5.1 audio with HDMI as does EVERY device ever made in the modern day.

Can someone clarify this?

A year?? We have to wait a year for this to be addressed? I'm just overall very disappointed with my XBone. I feel like I'm beta testing it. It's nice when it works, (I'm looking at you voice commands) and it does have some neat features that keep popping up but I have been thoroughly enjoying my PS4. There are things with it that should be addressed but as a whole, it's functioning wonderfully.

I'm looking forward to what the XBone can become.

Nah, it definitely has a ton of issues. I constantly find myself having issues turning on party chat once being invited/joining the party. It's happened at least a half dozen times, if not more, and I've probably played the system for 6-8 hours max since purchasing it on launch.

Yeah seriously. It's just as easy as flipping a switch after all.
Is that really what you got from my post or did you want to share some insight instead of making light of my reaction as a layman? A year to solve communications functions that have to play nice with multiple VMs and custom third party solutions? Seems extreme, but in terms of replacing it all behind the scenes, I can believe if there's some kind of process explained first. Would you like to explain it?

You only get stereo sound if you plug your DVR into your Xbox, however there is a "surround sound (BETA)" option available in the dash.

"Insider" rumors that eventually turn out to be untrue again? This is getting ridiculous.

You mean like the related rumor from the same person listed in the OP?

Oh wait, that turned out to be true.

Anyone who made a decision to wait on the Xbone because of the aforementioned rumor about the party system or the late rumors about it not having Twitch streaming must feel pretty justified right now.

Not always… I have joined a Forza room with a friend in my party (and it was a Forza party) and they never got notified. There was no way I could find to just "invite" him, like there used to be. We ended up not playing together, that's not functional.

I actually do hope it doesn't release next year,i prefer 2015 but you realize Halo 4 also did not show anything till the early part of the year. Still far away to show anything on Halo.

Halo 4 wasn't on brand new hardware. Im not saying its impossible, im just not seeing it.

November 2014 will be for the big third party shooter, November 2015 will be for the big first party one.

Part of me feels bad for X1 owners, and part of me craves the deep satisfaction only a MS fuck-up can provide.

Who am I kidding, I'm cashing this feel good cheque!

Yeah that's kinda how I feel. More dramaticized than what it is.

COD is dying slowly, every new gen something else comes.

It's dying slowly, but that doesn't mean Titanfall can go toe-to-toe with it in the holidays. Coming in March, being the only headline title as far as the eye can see, it's potential is maximised. It takes away a lot of the risk of it being a new, untested brand.

That doesn't mean I don't think the software fixes won't take forever. We don't even have voice chat here, and I don't see that coming until March. Look at how Microsoft handles Windows Phone updates. I just don't see EA taking Titanfall into Autumn because Microsoft can't get its shit together.

To be fair its not broken, it just sucks compared to the system on 360.

Those who don't have the system don't realize this. So unfortunately even though we are past the system launches some of the SDF aren't ready to move on.

How come you would be surprised?

Releasing it next fall would be a two year cycle from Halo 4, and we haven't seen anything about the game yet. I just don't see how there is any feasible way it is released next fall. Earliest I would expect it would be spring 2015, most likely fall 2015.

Just another indicator to throw on the big ol' pile of indicators that the console is unfinished and M$ rushed it to hell not to lose steam to the PS4.

What did that picture say: "Beta tested in the future"?

Halo 4 was revealed at e3 and we didn't know anything to the following spring. How is this different? Just curious.
