I probably should have listened to you guys when you said not to hype for any 3DS footage. Not even a single screenshot was given either.

I will stop complaining now and go elsewhere.

We got a single one :p

Didn't you get the memo? 3DS version now cancelled. Sakurai is only humoring people with fake 3DS shots
:p

I wonder if the different colored Luma have any any unique attributes like the different Pikmin. Rosalina looks a lot like the puppet characters from BlazBlue.

I buy cakes for myself on my birthday it's not weird lots of people do it I bet
We still getting Zelda next week during ALBW's JP release? Since this was a Direct reveal, I imagine it might be like when Olimar and Sonic were revealed so close together.

By the way, during the Reggie session, was that a Mach Rider statue on his desk? There's some imposing, black armored statue on the left-side.

Based on the effects, the luma has a bit more punch to it.

Luigi could possibly be damaged more.

However your argument since scientifically, since a star and or planet so something of that mass and density hitting a human body, would essentially destroy it,

Rosalina for the prediction thread is a little unfair, given she has new significance given her playable character status in World. I went with Bowser Jr. over her at the last minute, but wouldn't have done so if I'd known what was to come.

For some reason I think she might be floaty like Mewtwo was in Melee. I like the fact that she's a double character, I love playing as Ice Climbers sometimes since I always win because my friends don't know how to handle them, although Rosie and Luma look like they play completely differently, since it looks like you can summon and separate Luma at any time.

Rosalina doesn't have a moveset pic yet. Other characters have pics that are related to their special moves.

Villager has B (pocket item), Down B (plant sapling), Side B (lloid rocket), and Up B (balloon)
WFT has Side B (soccer ball head smash) and Up B (hoola hoops) so far.
I still don't know what you're talking about. I'm on the official site and don't see anything like that.

Hmm I really don't like Rosalina as a new character, she should've been relegated to an Assist Trophy imo. Nintendo should revive some characters from their old franchises like Takamaru or Mach Rider. Shulk should've been announced a long time ago too.

Yeah forgot about Shulk. He should have been at E3 really.

It could be Rainbow Road from Mario Kart 8, after all Iwata mentioned something like Sakurai unwittingly revealing part of the game.
I very much expect MK8's Rainbow Road to take full advantage of all the wall driving and floaty features.

That one doesn't.

I don't get the idea that the 3DS version will be the one coming out later. If they rush anything it'll be the 3DS version and they'll take more time on the Wii U version, it's clearly the lead platform. But that being said I don't think they'll rush either.

Just finished the Direct. OMG Rosalina. I do like her. She looks fun to play as. I like magical characters like her and Lucas.

Only thing is I wish she didn't look like Peach's long-lost twin sister. Non-Galaxy players are gonna be annoying with their "OMG why did they add fairy-princess Peach instead of [insert X character here]"

I cant believe that after so many months, we are still seeing the brawl air dodge in the trailers... Me and my friend have never played smash competitively, we played for fun only. Even then, i knew what i was doing. I mean, you cant still be mashing after thousands of hours. I have played all smash games way too much, for fun.

And i thought that brawl air dodge was bad, really bad. Even for casual play, melee air dodge made sense to me, brawl didnt.

Also, you dont need to play at tournament to use things like, for example, wave dash in melee or glide toss in brawl. Both made the games more fun. Both in the same game?? better.

I'd honestly be surprised if Takamaru wasn't this game's retro rep.

I'm nervous for Takamaru (I think he'd be great), when the hell would it be a good time to reveal him other than at an E3 with a butt load of other characters? Also the fact that they are giving us another Zelda spinoff instead of a new Murasame shows that Nintendo is either in God Panic Mode only puking top franchises out or has given him to Kamiya (I'm praying its the later).

While I also would definitely prefer Melee's air dodge, Brawl's wouldn't be too bad after some adjustment. They just need to make it significantly less spammable (once per jump?) and take out its momentum cancelling attributes entirely.

Brawl's problems were far more prevalent than its air dodge, so unfortunately I don't think there is any way to accurately guess if Smash 4 will be worthwhile competitively until someone actually gets a chance to play it and see how hitstun and the like work. And even then it likely won't be fully understood until release - I remember back during the Brawl days some higher-tier players were thinking that tripping was a new advanced technique from that they had played of the public demos.

Wave-dashing was so fun, and I liked how air-dodges seriously mattered and was even a risk in Melee. I do think that Brawl's air-dodge is just too easy and too safe to spam. There needs to be a punishment factor going in.

i love you :3

(kirby falling was, by far, the best moment. Poor kirby)

Oh, and yeah. That was one of my favourite moments from the trailer.

Jiggly Kirby, heh.

Why bother getting them back when Rosalina and Luma are doing what they've always done but better?
Yeah, Rosalina and Luma totally look like they can pull of chain grabs and desynchs. Also they definitely look like characters that will attack completely together under normal circumstances, adding power to their moves.

Wait, they look nothing like that at all.

Joking aside, Rosalina looks to have a very different fighting style than the Ice Climbers. Comparing the two in the way you are is like comparing Olimar with ICs - they both fight with partners, but both fight completely differently.

Aren't chain grabs an exploit that wasn't intended?

What's a desync?

They're probably going to avoid keeping in player abusing gameplay.

HD kirby :) new love for kirby.

When brawl, was released and i saw that i could air dodge more than once per jump i was like: "NO, :O"

So far this only worked with the Ice Climbers. Basically what it does is that you perform certain actions in order to make Nana's reaction to Popo's attacks delay or different, allowing you to chain separate moves that normally wouldn't work that way - this usually means grabs. I'm not entirely familiar with how desyncing -actually- works since the ICs never interested me.

However - it's the base of competitive Ice Climbers in both Melee (as far as I'm aware) and Brawl.

Like when you can separate the Ice Climbers and have them fight separately. Looks like you can do that with Ros + Luma. It's pretty apparent int he combo portion with Pit that the Luma is waiting over to the side while Ros hits Pit into the Luma up air.

So... since this Direct was apparently for Spring 2014 games and we got Rosalina for Smash, does that mean...

Nah. :(

I dunno... when Sakurai gave Dedede a fixed knockback throw that can perfectly chain into another and another (no matter what damage percent) it's hard to think that he didn't want them. :p

Oh, and a de-sync is basically to get Nana and Popo separated. It allows for some interesting strategies.

edit: beated

Yeah. I still have a very Melee mentality in matches against my friends and brothers when playing Brawl, which means I'll barely ever air dodge, and I usually forget that all my opponents can just freely dodge all my aerials by pressing a button. It feels wrong!

Playing offensively in Brawl is usually asking for a beating.

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
Wait, that's a fansite?

Also I just realized Rosalina has black hole abilities that draw items close to her.

I guess unless we get a surprise secret character, the Mario series has gotten its newcomer for the game. Also I think we might still get Zelda this month, but it is hard to say since Rosalina alone makes this the most notable month of new info since the reveal in June. Anyway I hope that this becomes a trend of one new character every month during a Nintendo Direct, but it depends on when the game will launch. I think we can write off a Spring date though given how no mention was given about it, but I remain hopeful for an early or late Summer release. (May or September probably)

Overall though, today was a very good day for Smash fans. I'm feeling a little bit more optimistic about the roster and it is refreshing to get some female newcomers in the series for a change between both Wii Fit Trainer and Rosalina, along with likely candidates such as Palutena and Dixie Kong.
