I've been preaching the merits of Chibi-Robo in smash since SSBB, but I basically gave up all hope on the basis that he's just not known enough.
He's such a great candidate in a bunch of ways too. I do think he has a good chance despite the utter lack of western popularity (I think the games sell somewhat nicely in Japan though), not only for the big moveset potential and originality among other Smash chars but because Chibi Robo is one of the very few new Nintendo IPs in recent years (as in 2006-) that has become somewhat of a mainstay.
I'll be pretty disappointed if he doesn't get in.
I love Chibi-Robo, beaten both the original & Park Patrol (and just got Photo Finder).
(did not expect the framerate in Photo Finder to be that bad tho)
Though thinking about it, how would you make a moveset for the helper bot (in terms of representation)?
Considering all of the games had you play as different Chibi-Robo(s) [I know nothing about the second DS game, JPN only and all that] with different tools and such.
Do you use the latest Chibi-Robo, the first Chibi-Robo, or an amalgamation of all of the Chibi-Robo(s)?
Yeah, I've known about the IP since the first game came out, but didn't realize what a great moveset Robo could have until now.
I think an amalgam would be fine, like G&W for example.

I know im late on this (Still on my horrible sleeping schedule....) but, Its good to see my only Heavy main back, he looks so much better now model wise, he seems to have grown bigger too. Love his new expressions.
Yeah, the hyper realism really hurt a lot of designs in Brawl like Toon Link for instance.
I don't think that means what you think it means.
I think the term you looking for, is slightly more detailed.
The colors and facial expressions make a huge difference. Especially Dedede, he looks WAY more animated.

This game should have 100+ playable characters. They already clone, half-ass and make movelists up out of nowhere for some characters and Brawl had terrible balance in its roster. If those problems will exist, they may as well appease fans by putting in a bunch of characters. If Nintendo would get with the times and support their games after release (which they did with that Super Luigi game), then they could adjust balance after getting a decent roster that takes good advantage of their rich history. The tourney scene would have their work cut out for them building a tier list, yet that would be an advantage for Nintendo if they paid attention to what the tourney demographic discusses. If people gravitate to only a select few characters to play competitively with, then it's business as usual.

Speaking of Olimar, do we know if his move set got changed up at all? Pikmin is one of my favorite franchises, but I found Olimar to be incredibly boring to play in Brawl.

I like the transformation mechanic and I don't see the need to separate the same character. It won't be surprising to me if there are no Legend of Zelda newcomers.
I thought there was a small chance he would be cut. Sakurai's interesting and very specific talks on character selection regarding Smash 4 scrambled my brain. I didn't see the need for two different Links, and before Toon Link was shown, we didn't know if "clones" would return. I was under the wrong impression that Sakurai was intending on sharpening the roster without utilizing too many variant characters. However, I will admit that I see the need for Falco and Wolf, and they could be considered variant characters, but I would argue that besides there being differences in how they exist in their franchises, they are also more unique compared to Fox than Toon Link is to Link. Also, I think it is better to compare Toon Link to Dr. Mario who wasn't deemed as high of a priority as others during Brawl's development. With that all that said, Toon Link is visually appealing and fits in well with the rest of the cast. I still wish Toon Link was more than just a "fast" Link with moves that perform somewhat differently than "slow" Link. I'm not even saying he needs a complete overhaul, three or four different moves alone would make a big difference. Anyway, all I think this means now is that the majority of the Brawl cast is returning, and for the most part, that is a-okay with me.

Really? Olimar's one of my favorite characters to use. I think he's really fun. But no, we haven't seen anything new -- his screen shots depict attacks he had in Brawl.

I've found the side-B is always too risky for me. I prefer grabs: the whites deal great pummel damage and fatties/blues produce amazing KOs with it.
Olimar's grabs are just really good! Crazy range thanks to the pikmin without the drawbacks of a grapple.
I was checking to see if anyone else wanted to make it obviously.

Yeah... Dedede in Brawl just looks so lifeless in comparison to his Wii U self. I'm still amazed at some of the screenshots. The lighting and animation is fantastic.
I can't wait for some more Pokémon reveals, as we only have Pikachu so far. Sakurai has said that including Pokémon characters is really hard thanks to a lot of issues among parties. :/
