I don't see what the issue is. As long as it stays above 10fps, its perfectly playable. The PS4 version will probably have been sped up by double to acheive the 60fps, so good luck trying to aim or jump over things when lara is moving at double the speed, LOL
Post of the year right there ! Lmao !

Glad I have a ps4

Never played the game, was tempted to get it on ps3 and PC during sales, My pc for sure wouldnt be able to play the game at high settings, maybe medium.

So now im excited to actually buy it.

Actually, I wonder how much this new TressFX factors in. It doesn't look as nice as what's on the PC version, but at the same time it obviously is not hogging as many frames as it. I thought all the talk of an optimized TressFX was bullshit but we're seeing proof right here.

Actually the TressFX looks notably better now.

The simple fact of the matter is, I have a gaming PC as well as a PS4. So I don't give a shit either way.

What my issue is, is that I'm still not interested in the game. sigh. I might give it a go when it's cheap enough, but the lack of exploration and focus on BOOM BANG WALLOP GUNZ and all the emotional stuff has really put me off.

Reading all those comments, its hilarious... people need to understand that next gen is so much more about software and programming than the specs. Yeah, sure.. PS4 has some more shaders, but the real reason for this performance gap is the laziness of some crossplatform devs. Wait 1-2 years and Xbox will be lead platform for any AAA title. At the Moment, it is a lot easier to Code for PS4, but this will change. Same way it did with 360 Vs ps3. All Panic kiddos, stop screaming.

Oh my gosh lol.

It's up to you whether you believe the words of a moderator or not.

I believe it. Seems pretty solid, and the producer seems to more or less confirm it on a stream. This is a much bigger deal to me than 720p or 900p vs 1080p. 30 vs 60fps is silly on console versions for a game being developed together for simultaneous release. It's not unexpected because we already know which of the two consoles has the stronger GPU for higher resolutions such as 1080p. What is unexpected is the decision. If the Xbox One version really performs upwards of 45fps, dipping down to 30 in heavier scenes, I'm at a loss for why the devs didn't find it made far more sense to just lower the resolution to 900p to improve performance even more on the xbox one version. Oh, and they likely wouldn't need to make whatever graphical compromises were possibly made to achieve resolution parity.

Not a fan of the move, but what's done is done. :)

No. There is still a long way to go in tool and engine optimization and things like HSA and GPGPU functionality will still allow them to grow over time. It may not be a huge spike like there was around 2009 on PS3 but there is still plenty of tricks to learn and ways to improve. The initial difficulty has just been significantly lowered.

And since the hardware environment is as universal as it's ever been, you have a lot of smart peeps attacking a lot of the same problems.

Unlocked framerate... Sigh. I'd rather take locked 30. This will be just like Shadowfall which looks like an unoptimized mess instead of the graphical showpiece it was supposed to be thanks to the unlocked framerate.
Anyhow, still a power showcase for PS4 since it's the one closest to 60..

Looks like we got one of those Xbone Redditors here ad well. lol

I am happy with this because I own a PS4, but it also makes me so unhappy with Microsoft for making such an underpowered system.

I mean, I own it, have since day one, but it is severely underpowered, and even using it for multimedia features is horrid.

Netflix sucks, the blu ray player is abysmal to non functional, and the Kinect works like 30% of the time.

If all that worked flawlessly I could almost forgive the hardware handicap. But it doesn't.

Now I will always have to wonder what Halo 5 would have looked like on PS4 tier hardware.

Wasted potential.

But luckily I own a PS4, Xbox One, and gaming PC so I can pick the best version of any multiplatform title. Just sucks for exclusives that will be handicapped by ms design decisions.

I suspect it's because, outside of dynamic-resolution solutions like Wipeout HD has, resolution needs to be locked in sooner than framerate and they wanted to be able to advertise it, especially for something like this which is 100% about marketing talking points about the graphical improvements made.

I agree that - assuming, for the sake of argument, that it would have been possible - 900p 60fps vs 1080p 60fps, or 720p 60fps vs 1080p 60fps, would have been better for the XBO version, but they wanted to be able to talk about 1080p for the entire marketing campaign whereas optimizations keep improving framerate up until the very end of things. Perhaps if they'd known earlier that they'd be able to hit 60fps on the PS4 they'd have marketed the 60fps thing instead of 1080p - but I kinda doubt it.

Where was that said? I thought it was an average of ~30 fps?

Seriously WAT. Either dude got the name wrong, or has never actually played Shadowfall in his life.
I had KZ from day 1. It's the constantly changing stuttering I'm annoyed at. Locked 30 you'll soon forget about since it's the same stuttering all the time. If it's unlocked and the framerate is fluctuating somewhere between 60 and 30 you'll constantly be reminded that they never reached their target, as in it simply looks unoptimized.

If it keeps up like this ill be getting all multi platforms on the PS4.
Microsoft should lower the price point for games with differences like this.

I don't know about anyone saying they were equivalent, but I can't count how many people, a lot of them "game journalists", who were downplaying the power difference hard. Like their careers depended on it or some shit. Despite all the evidence and mathematical equations to the contrary they simply wouldn't let up on this idea that the power gap was negligible at best.

The resolution debate was all the evidence I needed to know that these journalists are either company shills, willfully ignorant, or just plain blind. There was no other excuse.

Can't wait to see how they downplay this shit though. You can't get away with the argument that 720p > 1080p without looking foolish as has already been proven and you sure as shit can't get away with the argument 30 FPS > 60 FPS.

But hot damn I would be lying if I said I didn't want to see them try.

The Xbox One Redditors say "We" way too much. It's as if they're a part of some sport team or fraternity.

Wait...You're not?!?! I even challenge coin people when I go to the bar to see if they're loyal to the cause!

Well, I guess one good thing will come out of the hardware disparity this gen and that's the stupid posts it will spawn which will be entertainment enough. Tomb Raider is now providing hours more of entertainment without even being released!

Can I have your autograph? Just be careful when those X1 Reddit posters start recognizing you out on the street. :p

The shitstorm that will hit when Titanfall is 720p will be the one to settle the power debate once and for all. Especially since the 360 version is not developed by Respawn.

The waters are only rougher from here, folks.

Indeed. If Titanfall is 720p on Xbox One I am buying he PC version. Which sucks to say since I am yearning for a good game to play on my XBO.

720p with a game as graphically in impressive as Titanfall is absolutely unacceptable for a next gen only game.

Time will tell.

Maybe they didn't like what the Bone's scaler would do to their image quality? Maybe the drop in resolution would eat away too much from their definition of "definitive"? Hell, I don't know. If we do see this unlocked 30/60 split for release that'll be a new approach certainly.

funny that its called the definitive edition...

the thing is its probably going to sell the same number of copies on both consoles
