It's pointless to throw out these arbitrary benchmarks because people are still going to be biased on what tournaments they consider to be a major or not, or base their judgments on how just one tournament does, or based on what they see on stream, or based on one person flying in for one tournament and not anything else.

You also can't forget the tournaments that people try to call majors or hype up but come to find out that they can't pay people out because the money was mismanaged or they were just plain shady.

There's also not alot of money in this scene, so most are going to plan for EVO and maybe 1-2 out of state tournaments, or just a particular event for their particular game (Final Round for Tekken, Anime for NEC), so I don't think it's fair to judge an event based on how many people are from out of state because the organizer is not in control of who comes from where.

The community has some events that are long standing or have become the foundation of the FGC, but at the end of the day, we're still playing in hotel ballrooms and college campuses so why bother with these arbitrary labels, especially when they don't tell the whole story of what really takes place at these events?

Don't know if this has been posted, but this is some of most straight up salt I've seen in a while.

Funny because nothing else came of it, but that's the dumb shit that can go down in these kind of matches when (I guess) you got problems with people in videogames.

But I'm surprised no one GIF'd the 6:23 moment with Houshen - GAF is slipping man.

Someone found a TAC infinite for Phoenix Wright! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSrmtl-PLIY&feature=youtu.be

That's pretty damaging so it could kind of be worth it, but the execution and timing for it is crazy.

Anyone gonna buy a Playstation TV next month? The Vita version of UMVC3 is compatible with it, so you'll finally have the hitbox viewer available on a "console".

If East Coast wins it's not a major. If West Coast wins it's a major.

Seriously, you have people saying Summer Jam wasn't a major and WCW was which is a joke.

Honestly, who cares if it's a major or not. It's not like you get government grants or some type of funding if your tournament is classified as a major.

How does it work?

Can you use physical games with it?

6 is god-like. He also has a very high rated Akuma in USF4, and was one of the pioneers of Akuma's loop combos in Vanilla.

..I don't think I've seen him in tournament play, though.

Eliza is out for Skullgirls on 360.

Really? Strange that Ravid wouldn't mention that in the OT ... or the twitter. I don't see any mention of it on the skullgirls forum either. Hopefully the PC release will be out later today. If this is true I'm pretty sure this will be the first time the 360 version gets updated before the PS3/PC versions. :p

How much?

She'll be following the trend of all of the crowdfunded characters, if you download her within the first 3 months then shes free forever.

Hold off on downloading Eliza on 360 for now. Some funny stuff going on with my copy after I downloaded it.

Booting the game afterwards it said I needed "the latest content to play online" and the game is acting like I haven't downloaded any of the updates. Big Band and Squigly aren't on the character select screen anymore, not even greyed out, so I'm guessing it reverted to 1.0? After quitting out it wouldn't let me boot the game from the "My Games" menu for a bit.

The game is booting again now, but still without Eliza or any of the other updates (I believe). The DLC character updates are definitely not working for sure.

Poison is by far the most complete of the Ultra newcomers and can support a wider range of play styles than most of the cast. I can definitely understand a top 10 ranking, but I haven't seen enough to justify top 5.

Nooooo the secret is out now for everyone.

When I first picked her up and saw that everyone on SRK said she was mid tier I was like"Yeah guys she's totally mid tier"

Japan's been saying that about Poison for a while now, and they have been showing it there too.

It's just America that isn't experimenting with the new characters to see it themselves. Which is why I loved it when Nemo lit them up with Rolento last month.

The more surprising listing to me was Zangief in top 5 according to Nemo.

I don't feel like 2 is important. Why can't we just say an event is a major for series X, but not Y? Smash majors have pretty much only been Smash for the longest time.

2 is absolutely important from the perspective of the community as a whole. If you want to call a large Smash/SF event a Smash/SF major, that's probably OK but calling that event itself an FGC major would be pretty tenuous because if it gets no support from other games in any capacity, it's just an event for Smash/SF, etc etc.

USF4 as a whole really benefits character specialists since the tier gaps are so miniscule.
