PAL Charts - Week 46, 2015

Probably not because the digital price is a much better deal since some months ago. 20€ for the game+the season pass, retail can't compete with that.

DC award is including digital sales - it's not mentioned in the list. Sometimes publishers report their digital sales to BIU in order to get award. It's kinda fishy. There was one game that got the 100k with digital sales and then again for retail only. Think they changed that the give out the 100k award only once now - but I'm not sure.

Bloodborne is also with digital . And other titles like the The Crew.

Even Fifa 15 XBO includes digital sales -- so GTAV is the only XBO title that broke 100k. Halo is not gonna reach that in 12 month, I guess. Although Fifa was heavily bundled (and mediacontral doesn't include bundled games).

Fifa 16 should break the million eventually. Fifa 12 was the first to reach 1 million on a single platform (but it took 11 month). The others sold faster.

Driveclub number is retail + digital

Also we will provably never know if it is going to reach this number because BIU only give sales awards for sales in a 12 month timeframe

So a game can get one award 2 times? like 100k sales for 2014 and 100k sales for 2015?

Tomb Raider opens at 9 in Germany? Has it opened top of the charts anywhere? Seems it's really not going to do well in PAL. SE really need US to buy into the game I think otherwise it's going to be a really weak launch.

Doesn't Tomb Raider traditionally do better in Europe?

If that's the case I'm currently not seeing MS go that extra step to see US pick up the slack that will obviously be lost in Europe.

I believe reboot sold 2/3 outside US but I'm presuming MS and SE believed they could improve US sales with the marketing deal and bundles. Given PAL looks weak I'm assuming they're hoping the plan at least works in US.

If not then yeah even worse result than I would have predicted. Fallout 4 really delivered a cruel blow although I don't think it's totally to blame. Xbox is clearly weak outside US where reboot actually sold most so I always figured the sales might take a hit just not this bad.

No chance for that when it released roughly at the same time than CoD and Fallout.
Yeah probably not. Shame in some ways as it looks like good game and I mostly liked reboot but it's clear at least in PAL it's not going to overcome CoD, Fallout 4 and Battlefront in the competition for sales.

It's definitely the loser demand wise vs those titles pretty much everywhere in PAL territory it seems.

All eyes on US and whether the WW number totals up to something better (plus I guess it could still see some spurts of demand across holidays if purchased as gift or via bundles although I doubt it's legs will overcome the lack of peak launch sales in the region).

I doubt it will perform well in the US either.

Tomb Raider at 9 in Germany? That's surprising given how Sony is dominating in Germany with PS4.

Doesn't mean that Xbox owners don't buy games. How many Xbones are out there? 500k? I expect bigger drop for ROTR next week.

For me, more suprising is that the PC version of Fallout 4 isn't ahead of PS4 version. PC retail market is damn strong in Germany.

LOL do u think the game on pc would outsell ps4 version?

Playstation rules Germany, in fact Playstation rules WW, ps4 is a monster.

I would think that including digital sales, PC still moved more F4 units than PS4.
WW? I think that the ps4 versione have sold more than 50% of The total, just like every other game on the market.
If you are talking about Germany then probably you are right, but not with a huge margin.

120k? Ps4 version is probably already way over that in Germany.

PC Version - 2m copies according to Steam Spy as of today.
Console Version as 1st Day - 10.8m copies.

Since PC was 1.2m on 1st day and it shipped 12m copies.

Source is Bethesda.

There are also retail PC copies sent out that were not sold and since this is a shipped number, it's not that simple.

Why LOL? PC as gaming platform holds bigger market in Germany than PS4.

Even if that would be the case - PC software sales are not so focussed on the big AAA titles. Average pc games sell for ~22€ - console games for ~45-50€.
You see that in the BIu awards and every week in charts.

And 2014 data:
martkets9u9h.png

(and this should be retail + digital)

It's pretty much a given that PS4 has a higher market share than 50% in germany.
So PS4 revenue > PC revenue

Retailers were right about their expectations for a great November that would make up for a terrible month of October where sales fell by 24%.

2015 sales are now down only 0.5% by revenue, 3 week ago they were down by 8.5%.

The last week of November of 2014 (GfK Chart-Track calendar) was very strong with the release of Grand Theft Auto V (400,000 units sold) and Far Cry 4, but if Star Wars: Battlefront lives up to the hype I think it can be matched.

82% of Football Manager 2016's sales were digital

Football Manager 2016 shifted 110,000 digital and physical units in its first week on sale in the UK.

This means the game could have been No.3 in the Chart-Track All Formats charts had digital sales been included. 82 per cent of the game’s sales were made digitally.

Based on just its physical sales, Football Manager 2016 debuted in seventh place in the UK All Formats charts.

Football Manager 2016, developed by Sports Interactive, launched on PC on Friday, November 13th.

“It was a record breaking day one for the Football Manager franchise in terms of global sales and this has been supported by some great week one numbers in the UK,” Sports Interactive studio boss Miles Jacobson said.

“We’re delighted with the sales and the smooth launch of the game, not just in the UK, but internationally. We wanted to ensure that the release this year had some revolution with the two new game modes, lots of evolution with the improvements made to the main game mode, and was our most polished day one release to date. All of which has been achieved.”

Payout: Fallout 4 smashes 500,000 units in a week

Bethesda’s Fallout is one of just four IPs to have sold more than half a million units in a week in the UK.

Fallout 4 smashed the 500,000 barrier, generating more than £24m in revenue, and that’s without counting digital sales via Steam, PSN or Xbox Live.

The data, courtesy of GfK Chart-Track, revealed Fallout 4 is the 18th fastest-selling game in terms of units (behind Black Ops III) and the 16th fastest-selling game in terms of revenue (behind FIFA 11).

http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/payout-fallout-4-smashes-500-000-units-in-a-week/0159301

Fallout 4 has the highest launch for a game not called Grand Theft Auto, Fifa and Call of Duty.

Note that that over 500,000 units number is extrapolated to 100% of market that's why it is higher than what we have here.

Actual tracked sales number for Fallout: New Vegas was leaked by UKIE.

Bethesda’s ‘Fallout: New Vegas’ is the new No1 (154,076), comfortably beating Bethesda’s previous record holder ‘Fallout 3’ which debuted at No1 in week 44, 2008 (up 29% units over the previous title).

‘Fallout 4’ delivers the best ever launch week for the series while becoming the third biggest launch of 2015 so far.

Bethesda’s second No1 of the year (The Elder Scrolls Online was the other) is behind only the familiar faces of ‘Fifa 16’ and ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops III’ for debut week unit sales. It’s a fantastic return for the series bettering the debut sales of previous week one best seller ‘Fallout: New Vegas’ by 213%.

154,076 + 213% = 482,258 (95%) / 507,640 (100%)

UK = 64 million

UK has 3 times more Fallout 4 owners than Sweden, but 6 times more population.

Sweden loves Fallout :)

The console games market is about 2.5x larger than PC.

Swedish Week 46 COMBINED charts are out, still no platform split charts, but they should be coming soon.

01. Fallout 4
02. Call of Duty: Black Ops III
03. Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void
04. Minecraft
05. FIFA 16
06. Football Manager 2016
07. Need for Speed
08. Rise of the Tomb Raider
09. NHL 16
10. Skylanders: Superchargers
11. Grand Theft Auto V
12. Just Dance 2016
13.Assassin's Creed: Syndicate
14. Lego Jurassic World
15. Halo 5: Guardians
16. Lego Marvel Super Heroes
17. Lego Dimensions
18. Guitar Hero Live
19. Minecraft: Story Mode
20. The Sims 4

TR broke into top 10. Not sure if it'll break top 10 on the platform split charts though. Might beat Xbox One SKU of Need for speed, but not sure about Fifa and CoD.
Also StarCraft charting 3rd just goes to show how digital pricing on PC really isn't enticing enough for consumers yet. Even on PC, without a second hand market, a lot of people still choose to go "physical".
Digital pricing in Europe really needs to go down.

Halo 5 took a dive this week from 5:th position in the combined last week. Should be out of the top 20 in the platform split, that's dropping out of top 20 in 3 weeks.

These figures might be useful for next Monday.

[Week 47, 2015] STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT (ELECTRONIC ARTS)

I think Battlefront will beat Battlafield 3... they should be close too.

I just wanted to pop in and make the opposite prediction. I think BF will open to around 300k or less.

I figure I'd plop this down before the results tomorrow even though it's a largely meaningless prediction.

I'm with you. Been tracking that concurrent player number thread and comparing it with older Battlefields to try and get a trend against sales. Maybe a bit more than 300k, but I don't think it's beating out BF3.

The player count is largely my reasoning too. Won't have to wait long to find out at least.

Under 300k for Battlefront could be very disappoint imo.
I think Battlefront is in a special circumstance though, it's undoubtedly going to get another quite large boost around the time of the film.

I do agree under 300k for BF would be disappointing for it, but so are the player counts. At the moment there's 120k on Battlefront and just under 40k on BF4 despite BF4 being a 2 year old game with a sequel (if hardline counts lol).
