That's awesome.
Must also be extra amazing for those playing it for the first time.
I'm blown away playing this thing on a handheld and I've got 100+ hours logged on Wii U.
somehing must be wrong here
45% attachrate would result in an 1020K installbase
Switch sold 900k in March
Beating the first day sales of Mario Kart Wii is fuckin' insane. Well deserved.
My title wins.
Kinda upsetting that Iwata wasn't able to see the Switch's success.
I got you fam.
But why didn't the WiiU version sell as well before?
I could see some people making the argument that as a three-years-later Wii U port MK8's ceiling might be lower than you'd otherwise expect, while BotW being the most relevant Zelda game in more than a decade gives it more selling power than you'd otherwise expect.
But, yeah, MK8D is going to do some work.
Pokémon. You can only release one Mario Kart per platform, and a single entry of Pokémon usually sells more anywaysAt this point what's Nintendo's biggest franchise, Mario Kart or Pokemon?
Im gonna come out and say it. This has been the best launch period of a new system for me ever. Its not as mystical or magical as the promise of the Wii, but thats probably for the best because its actually able to deliver on its promises and really excel. I have way too many games that I really really love
Because the system still needs to be good for games to sell it.But why didn't the WiiU version sell as well before?
It's a pretty low second month sales figure, though. They must have had far more severe stock problems than we thought. Is it that far-fetched to think Nintendo has updated numbers for their own hardware?

Now imagine if Nintendo had Pokémon ready to go in June.
Threads everywhere
not. but the low numbers
even in Japan, Switch was selling ~50k each week in April
and the US is a bigger market for Nintendo
supply constrained for sure, but that low?
i just try to figure something out here
The real system seller is here.
Switch - fastest selling Nintendo console
Breath of the Wild - fastest selling Zelda game and standalone launch title
MK8D - fastest selling Mario Kart game
I wonder if this will entice them to port over more Wii U games...SM3DW, DKCTF, and Nintendo Land would be great, k thx
Wouldn't it also mean the switch sold around 150k for April. Ignoring the last day of tracking period. Is it that far-fetched to think Nintendo has updated numbers for their own hardware?
Will be really interesting to see what 3rd party game takes off like a shot first. Minecraft?

For bigger games, like Mario Maker, and SSB4, they certainly should do more deluxe versions, and probably will.Time to port the rest of the Wii U catalogue.
2.74 million was announced as thé official number by Nintendo during the fiscal year presentation - the 2.7 million number is as of end of March. So was that 2.4m figure for Switch first month sales incorrect? 2.7m through May would mean it only sold 300k for the entire month WW, which doesnt sound right.
Seems like it would be overkill. They need more Switch consoles out there before unleashing that beast IMO.
