..seriously WTF man?! Is NTR a common plot device for them because I'm out if it is.

Season 1 Episode 2 is practically forcing the poor romantic interest to watch her become a an erotic (read: porn) pop star.

Season 1 Episode 3 has a guy being forced to watch another guy cum in his cheating lying wife.

This series came highly recommended and I love things like the outer limit and twilight zone and while I don't mind sex as a topic, I do not like the mental space that Netorare puts me in.

1) Is this a reoccurring theme for this series?

2) I always thought NTR was a dark twisted pleasure for a niche group of sadist who just want to enjoy one of the most destructive form of mental sexual stimulation. Does the popularity of this show suggest that theirs a mainstream appetite for this filth?

xxracerxx

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.
NTR?

Ahh...urban dictionary to the rescue
Japanese acronym for Netorare, used to define a genre of Eroge (Hentai Game), meaning "Cuckold". In short, the main protagonist's loved one(s) are taken or seduced away from him and the heroine might be willing or unwilling. This is to cause an emotion of deep jealousy on the reader.

...You're looking too much into it, or at the least framing it in an odd way. Of course a show called Black Mirror has perverse depictions of voyeurism.

might be this, i don't really know

That crazy Brazilian guy loves NTR games.

You seriously thought he was being forced to watch his wife cheat on him? Dude, he forces her to show him. Multiple times. Did you also think she forced him to cut open his own head?

The Most Dangerous Yes Man
Yep. The English love the VNs.

I mean the plots of these episodes could pretty much be a story line in any VN that you can think of.

It's pretty amazing for this to be your takeaway from the show.

I mean really...I think it takes some serious mental gymnastics to get to this point.

Toby Kebbell is an actor that is just woefully underappreciated and cast in too much shit. Dude was great in Entire History of You (S1E3)

Sometimes we see what we want to see, OP...

But seriously, I have no idea that is what you got out of those episodes.

People who keep saying I missed the point. I understand that there's a greater point they're trying to make with each episode. I get it. Please stop saying I missed it... its not that deep or subtle to miss. This isn't rocket science told through interpretive dancing.

I'm simply saying the NTR element they're using as a plot device bothers me. I've only seen 3 episode and 2 of them have had it... its a bit much for me if this is a reoccurring theme (which it seems it isn't?... Thanks marzlapin). I don't want that shit in my head. I've made dumb jokes about NTR in the past but I'm seriously not a fan of the stuff.

I guess I should clarify myself if it helps. If you are going to argue of the technicality of the concept of the NTR effect then knock yourself out but being pedantic to that level will simply just rob the meaning out of any concept. A concept is not some well-defined thing. It has fuzzy edges and grows deeper in meaning and morphs to ideas that it can overlap with even if it doesn't cover the entirety of the idea. The plot devices scenarios I mention both have strong indication of this concept and that being used as a re-occurring plot device is what I'd like to understand more about this series if I'm to continue watching.

The fact that you think this is even remotely what they were going for says a lot more about you than it does the show. Literally known of those two episodes are supposed to be titillating. Ծ_Ծ

You are laser focusing on specific elements of the show that are intended to merely be common elements of hardship that all sorts of people go through everyday.

And indirectly airing your personal hangups as a result.

The Entire History of You might be the best episode of TV I've ever seen. It's fantastic.
Ya know what. I really want to call a hyperbole shotfire warning warning on this... But I've gotta say, it's a fantastic episode and may be one of the only episodes on any show I've gladly rewatched and shown to friends multiple times. Kinda hard to call it a TV episode tho, considering BM is more of a series of 1hr short films

My personal favorite episode goes to prolly an episode in Skins, but this would prolly rank for me as well.

Okay..how is the Entire History of You can example of NTR? Just because she cheated on him?

Can you not watch anything where a character gets cheated on? I'm confused.

Also probably not the best to just namedrop types of hentai as common knowledge.

I....genuinely don't understand why you find it so troubling. Like, I know that it troubles you, but you've already radically misinterpreted the third episode in your OP (the wife isn't forcing him to watch, the guy is forcing himself to see it and forcing her to show it to him)

And the way you frame it is as if it's depicted for the purposes of titillation. If this is the case, I think your misinterpreting this as well.

I wouldn't be airing the personal hang up if I didn't think the rest of what I saw wasn't worth it. I'd simply just stop. I wanted to know if this was going to be a thing, its important for me (personally) to avoid.

The only aside I have on the matter was the surprise that I was seeing it twice here. I generally just read stuff these days and watch movies on a blue moon and that's basically my exposure to pop culture these days. Judging from peoples reactions to my reaction, I guess I'm either not numb to it or I'm hyper sensitive to it. Either way, I'm not a fan.

Yeah, exactly this. What a weird thread.

There are a few other episodes about cheating and infidelity. None of these are about cuckolding. You really have missinterpreted EPS 2&3. Many of the episodes are about human relationships and how technology could be used to devistating effect on these relationships.

Okay OP, just curious. Even though I don't think NTR plays a role at all as a plot device, I'll go with it for a second. Do you assume that these scenes are in the show for sexual gratification? Because that is what it seems to imply by thinking the general public is "into this filth."

They didn't show a guy fucking a pig in the first episode because they think people want to see pig-fucking.

Black Mirror is about a bleak future based on our relationships with technology. Being cheated on is bleak. Losing your love to slavery in a futuristic reality show world is bleak. Being forced to fuck a pig is bleak.

It isn't in anyway saying "hey check out this niche hentai".

I think you're hypersensitive. There's really not much to be numb about.

Episode 2, I thought, was a play on our mass consumption of reality tv and the acts people put on to get "famous." I mean the dudes wall was a whole TV he couldn't control.

I thought episode 3 was a classic story about jealousy with the twist that they have the ability to go back and see if their feelings are justified.

I thought it made me ask myself if I'd want that much power.

The whole show is a twist on what we experience everyday.

Thanks for the input (I'll tread lightly if it means getting reviews on each episode to avoid or deal with the problematic parts) but I understood the "point" of each story. My hope was to get an idea of the reoccurrence of the particular plot device. I got (and appreciate) the answers I needed from the thread.

I guess the being "other'ed" for tying it to a concept as I understand it is a small price to pay to get the details I needed.

I guess on the topic of the show. I heard that Seasons 2 and 3 are different from Season 1. Does the shows episode occur in the same universe in all episodes and season where its this sort of almost dystopian-like "technology will warp us" sort of future?

You seriously think that's Black Mirror theme? Because if so, you might need to rewatch it.

No. I do not think this is the shows theme; sorry if I used the word "theme" anywhere to refer to the entire subject of each episode when I was honestly talking about the particular scenes I described in the OP. I just pointed out a plot device that I'd like to avoid or mentally prepare for whenever possible. I was prepared to drop the series altogether if it was a reoccurring plot device.

IIRC it's all in the same universe, but obviously in different times.
You can see easter eggs from various episodes throughout the seasons.

I can confirm that both episodes were very hard to watch as they climaxed. The resolution in the cuck one was rough too. Episode was full of symbolism and metaphor; the only episode that matched it in that sense was probably Season 3E1.

The guy with the wife...whew. Yea, that's how happy homes end up broken. It was the future equivalent of "show me your text messages!"

Why would you just write NTR and have us figure it out?!

To follow up, you should post an interesting screenshot and not tell us what game it is from.

personally i'm still reeling over how back to the future was all about how a guy's mother is obsessed with shagging him in the past. can't believe that filth was mainstream.
