Eh, no thanks. The Vita is a far more capable handheld.
Just not capable of following up the PSP's library.

Halo 4 still outsold every PS3 title including the CODs
Cool, thanks again bud!No problem. Here's the official list for reference:
And some countries that might be seeing it during the earlier half of 2014:

Bolded "5M plus" franchises going into this generation? Well I guess everything is possible.
The 2nd wave launch is about twice NA too. Anyways, there's no telling what they'll do after 3 months of console blue ball; Japan has a tendency to do whatever the hell it wants relative to the rest of the world.
He's way off on God of War. Never did those numbers in the past and is in franchise fatigue + story dead-end mode now.
Uncharted he's probably right.
Good numbers for Sony.
In addition, they are air freighting units to the UK according to MCV, which means the 250,000 will grow very quickly over here, each planeload can bring around 10,000 units and I expect Sony have two or three arriving every day for the next two weeks. The big boat from China is expected on the 11th of December in Rotterdam, that is the massive pre-Xmas consignment for Europe.
How is it underwhelming when it's sold out for months to come already?

There was expectation that the EU would match NA numbers, but yes Sony shipping 1.1 million consoles since the PS4 launch on November 15th is still impressive regardless.

According to several sources, God of War III easily sold over 5 million.

They really under stocked Europe here. Demand is huge they still have a massive preorder list to fulfill. Everywhere in Europe is sold out until next year.
They have less pressure there, though, continental Europe is friendly territory, Microsoft isn't launching in as many territories there, and they too seemed to have prioritized the UK and NA.Seems weird considering that is their biggest territory and the lack of a Japanese launch.
TLoU came out in 2013.

I'm pretty sure GT5 outsold it by a wide margin.
They've put up a 'thank you' video, euro-launch focussed, with footage from the different euro events:

It is very probably that XO has very similar numbers TBH. 2M is good but the Wii U is the big loser it seems.
Naughty Dog has 2 teams.

Pretty sure these aren't shipped numbers, although the distinction would matter little as the vast majority of what is shipped is sold right now.
Edit: Wait or is House conflating the actual sold in one sentence to shipped in the next?
yeah and that's even with production ramped up in japan. still, that's a lot of units essentially ready for day one in each market within such a short window. especially compared to the manufacturing ramp up of the ps3. pretty good showing when put in perspective of other recent consoles.700k in Europe? Guess they couldn't produce more, because the demand is definitely there.
Damn. So the UK might not see the same kind of drop as the Xbone did in week 2?

Yup. Also have to take into account that Xbone still hasn't launched in several countries in Europe.

The situation is a bit silly in Australia. All the big games retailers have massive signs outside shop and banners on their websites saying "GET YOUR XBOX ONE NOW" while the PS4 section is off in some lonely corner with a little sign saying "wait till 2014 lol".
Halo 4 has yet to outsell GT5 worldwide. Nor did it outsell any of the recent Call of Duty's on PS3. Not even close. Stop lying.

I live in HK and many of us had that fear when the PS4 release date for HK was first announced (because this kind of things happens a lot, baby formula, electronic gadgets, AAA video games, you name it, all bought in HK in bulk and shipped back to China, causing shortage in HK).Ya, much smaller market. But HK is the one to watch, because we don't know how much demand from Mainland China.
250k-350k all together is my guess.
Kudos to Sony indeed. Good for them to see how much the positive buzz of the past months has actually translated into sales for them.
Still, I can't help but feel bummed out that all of these 2.1 million PS4 owners (assuming everyone bought one to use and not to sell them that is) bought a system mostly on the promise of better times/games to come while Nintendo's unsuccesful Wii U launch was partly blamed by the press on a weak launch lineup. In a fair and just world, a fantastic game like Super Mario 3D World would have sold 2.1 million copies (and Wii U's) as well, but alas.
As I said before, even as a happy Playstation (1, 2, 3) owner I can't think of any reason to run out and buy a PS4 so soon after launch. None of the launch titles are enticing me, but it appears others aren't having that same problem. I still wonder what all of these mass market buyers are seeing / feeling that I am not, except perhaps to be able to follow the masses and play the most modern version (not counting PC) of big franchises like CoD and Battlefield.
It all seems to boil down to a vague underbelly feeling of zeitgeist hipness or momentum that makes these movements happen and that make people face the same direction. It especially keeps amazing me how fickle these things appear to be (with Nintendo's problematic Wii to Wii U transition, and Microsoft's problems with policies and their message to customers that allowed Sony to get a head start, being two good examples of how fickle such attention is from the mainstream masses.)
To be clear: I have nothing against Sony - or Microsoft - doing well, but I can't fully hide my feelings of "some of this success should befall on Nintendo as well because of their recent great games" either. In any case it will be fascinating to see how all of this will turn out in the long run and how this will impact game development (especially in Japan).
Thanks!
Ah man...when i was walking out of Gamestop with my PS4 and on my way home i felt like i was on Cloud 9, it was such an intense natural high which i had not felt for many many years. I guess the unexpected nature of how it all unfolded that night was a real roller coaster for my emotions and to come home with a PS4 after all that was pure bliss man. I couldn't believe it! I couldn't even take it out of the box for some hours because i just wanted to look at the PS4 box sitting next to my home theater ..i just wanted to soak up every bit of joy just marveling at the fact i had a PS4 sitting at home in front of me!!
I hope everyone else that desperately wants their PS4 gets one soon! I totally understand the feeling if wanting it and not being able to find one.
