About to get my first android phone so I have a couple of questions.
Is the store ip locked? Or is there a way for me to create an US account and make purchases?

Also, any sites similar to toucharcade that shows what games are coming up?

Am I right in thinking that Game Dev Story requires Android 1.6 or higher?

I have a Motorola Dext, which I think is 1.5.

Pretty fed up with all these decent Android games coming out, and not being able to play them (

EDIT: Hmmm, the internet seems to suggest it works on all Android versions, or at least 1.5. I can't see it on the Market though?

UK user, if that makes a difference.

I'm not sure, but if it appears on the Android Market on your phone, it works. :)

Game Dev Story is worth a look then? I'm yet to buy anything on the Android store, have only download free apps. This might make me take the plunge...

I played game dev story for about 4 hours straight after buying it. Its the only game I've purchased, and I love it.

I'll cross post this over here...Cubes Beta has been renamed to Cubes Free, and can still be had with the following QR code:

We also have a Pro version now for $.99 that includes more levels, more ships, and leaderboards. You can either search for Cubes Pro or upgrade from inside Cubes Free.

QR code for Game Dev Story:

Edit: I guess not, I can't get the QR code to post as an image. It keeps showing up as a link.

Woo! I didn't think this would be coming over.

Kerrinck: yeah, you can use an app called MarketEnabler to fake being from some other market than you actually are. Works without problems for me and we dont have paid apps in my country either.

Reposting this here, as I was utterly ignored in the apps thread because Google Maps 3d was just released .. :lol

Might be a silly question, but are your SNES emulators running games full speed and with perfect audio? Cause I'd expect them to, since we also have PSX and now DC emulators, but damn it if Snesoid doesn't run with full fps on my phone and Super GNES runs (I think) with perfect fps most of the time, but the music seems weird most of the time.

And I kinda expected it to run flawlessly without any problems. :(

Running a stock rom on a rooted HTC Desire Z.

Does any of the games for Android work with the Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro?

I mean it has a smaller screen and customized Android 1.6 right?

EA Mobile has decided to hook folks up for the Holidays. If you've been holding out on purchasing The Sims 3 or the oh so awesome Need For Speed: Shift now is likely as good a time as any to pick them up. EA has put their whole catalog of games on sale for only 99 cents in the Android Market. We like games. Especially when they go on sale and we can get them on the cheap. [via @EAMobile]

Anyone else download Dungeon Defenders?

First Unreal Engine game on Android. $3.00

Pretty cool so far. Haven't tried multiplayer yet.

http://www.appbrain.com/app/dungeon-defenders:-first-wave/com.trendy.ddapp

Downloaded it for my evo. Its laggy as hell. not smooth like the youtube videos. It took me 30 minutes just to get the game set up so needless to say I can't get a refund. I feel jipped. Fuck you Google I'll think twice before I buy anything off the market again.

The best part is the dev says the game runs best on tegra 2 dualcore phones. That's great reccomend a phone that hasn't even been released yet except for maybe korea.

full 3D MMORPG

its a real mmo...amazing to me to see hundreds of people running around in full 3d on my phone.

I'm a level 17 archer right now. you cant get higher than like level 18 without paying for 'platinum' that lets you buy new areas and items. they have some special going on now where you get free plat for installing some apps they want you to try..I installed like 15 apps and opened them once then immediately uninstalled them and got 15 plat for free which was enough to unlock 2 new areas.

pm if you want my name to add me as friend.

Game Dev Story is 75% off right now. Bought it. $5 seemed like too much, glad I waited. Came out to about $1.20 CDN.

Really enjoying Game Dev Story, and seem to be doing pretty well on my first play through.

Also, thanks to this thread, I checked out Alchemy. It's an interesting little time waster, something I can see myself opening up if I am in a waiting room or something similar where I might only be waiting for 5-10 minutes.

yeah, it's great.

I need to unlock more game genres though. I've figured out some winning combinations, and just churn out sequels to my hall of fame games. I recently unlocked the ability to make a game company simulation game though.

:lol

game dev story was well worth the $1.20, i hadn't been convinced by the descriptions on gaf, and I tried to rush the game a bit at the start so I could return it within the 15 minute window .. but 2 hours later, it turns out it is indeed a fantastic game :lol

damn. 5 was too much but 1.25 is on point... still had fun with it for a bit, though

any good pinball game?
I tried a couple but they sucked ass. They feel like a joke compared to Dsiware game "Pinball Pulse: The Ancients Beckon"(which I consider one of the best videogames pinball games ever)

price doesn't matter

Game Dev Story is really fantastic. A little short and easy but very enjoyable and addictive.

Shame the port is so shoddy, but its passable.

I wasn't sure if I was bringing an old thread back from the dead but there doesn't seem to be a new one for 2011 so here goes:

It appears that Worms is available for Android now, but it's not up on the market. Thanks to poster Clay Davis from the OT 2010 Android thread for the following link to the APK. I wanted to repost this in the gaming thread for those who don't follow the general Android thread in the OT.

Clay Davis said:
LINK REMOVED

I've tried the game on my Droid X and it works fine. Hopefully it will be up on the market soon.

EDIT - Link Removed due to Suspicion

is this a full version and will it be free on the market eventually. Just wondering if this is some sort of pirated version?

Been play a little local dungeon defenders. I bought it knowing there would be no refund even if it ran like crap thanks to the long install time. But for $3 it's worth it. Plus I really like the concept and look forward to it on PSN so I wanted to support the dev.

On the plus side it runs decent enough on my DroidX. I had to play around with the resolution a little bit. There's a slider in the options that let's you adjust it. I found a happy medium just below the middle. Too low even started getting laggier for some reason. Too high was almost unplayable.

I like the game, I like the concept, it's just a little busy even on the 4.3" screen. The controls were very well done for a phone game. My major gripe was the lack of "phone game" support. There was no quick startup, no quick shutdown. The levels were very long with no midlevel save. If I hit the home button and/or turned the screen off, 50% of the time it would reset my phone. I never got a text or a phone call while I was playing but I don't expect good results from that. It's a game that you have to be able to sit down a dedicate some time to. Not really what I look for in a phone game. I have consoles and PSPs and computers for that type of gaming. I want something that's on the go, pull out and play in a 5-15 minute window. Not something that requires 30+ minutes to complete a stage.

I got a problem with my HTC Desire. Always when I try to move apps on the SD card I get an error message that's not possible. The apss should be movable though. The SD card works fine and there is enough space on it. Everything else works. Just moving doesn't. Any idea?
