I've been offered a free Samsung Galaxy Note by my father who has a spare. I'm currently running a three year old iPhone 3GS on a sim-only contract (which is the same provider as the Note is activated for). It's a nice sleek phone, and I really dig Android after looking at the same OS for so long - but does anyone here use it and find it practical? Is it suitable for pockets even?

Unbeknownst to me, I appear to be a Google whore. I've also had all the Nexus devices at one point except the Nexus Q, plus a Transformer at my shop.

2 x Worst Galaxy Nexus in the family and at some point a N7, had a Nexus 1, and a Nexus S and wife had an Atrix, to which i vowed to never stray from Nexus again

The Optimus certainly looks nice aesthetically but I haven't had very good luck with LG phones in the past. Granted those experiences with LG were all in the flip phone era but it turned me off from the brand.

The Optimus certainly looks nice aesthetically but I haven't had very good luck with LG phones in the past. Granted those experiences with LG were all in the flip phone era but it turned me off from the brand.

LG used to have the ugliest, most non-intuitive skin for android. It now looks mostly stock, with one of the coolest lock screens.

The Razr M is a fantastic looking phone even before this deal. I'll have to pimp this to a few friends looking to upgrade.

That's kind of how I was given a Note too. You should take it, although it does look a bit ridiculous when phoning and it can be uncomfortable in your pocket, or it may not even fit. Great phone though, the screen is fantastic.

Pretty sure you can do that. Though the media management options are a little lacking. The built in app doesn't play many formats. I ended up buying MyGTVBox(I think that's the one) which plays alot of stuff, but the interface is horrible.

Forgot to mention that we do no want to renew contract. Plan to jump onto a value plan in the next few months.

probably the cheapest off contract phone you are going to find thats still good is going to be the GNex

To be fair, my jumping ship back to Apple was squelched yesterday after the tepid iPhone 5 showing. I'm looking forward to a superior Nexus though.
