Even the new show pays homage to the 80s show:

The new show is better than the 80's, and it pays homage not just to the 80's, so I don't see why it would be a special mention.

Of course it's no 2003's, but it's still good.

It's G-Fex.

if it was up to you boss we'd have overmuscled guro turtles.

So while it's a let down that April is basically just Megan Fox being Megan Fox, I think the coolest thing to come out of these photos is the whole Vernon thing. If the rumors about this being based off the 80s cartoon even going as far as having the technodrome in it, then count me in. I don't care how it turns out, that was the movie we always envisioned back in the day.

The original TMNT is probably the best live action TMNT flick we'll ever get. That said, I don't mind if they just go completely off the deep end with this one by fitting in characters like Rocksteady, Bebop, Krang and the even the freaking Technodrome. This movie is not going to be good, but if it's fun that'll be good enough for me.

So far the 80s version had the best version of April. Nick TMNT might change that.

80s TMNT also had the best voice cast and arguably the best music scoring. Nick TMNT is becoming a rival for voice acting too!

I'd pay a moderate sum of money for an official soundtrack.

That is the biggest knock to the 2k3's voice cast. The only complaint you can have towards the 80s voice cast was the inconsistency due to rushed production, which was a standard of the entire industry at the time.

The soundtrack however was vibrant and more memorable than anything else, easily. The TMNT (1990) film had a pretty amazing score as well. Again, limited by the time of the film, forcing pop songs anywhere they could.

I wouldn't agree.

I specifically made a comment on using Hitomi Tanaka to promote video games.

As far as my knowledge of porn goes... I have not seen anything JAV related with April O'Neil.

EDIT: Nevermind

Ha, just found this post. Yes, I was referring to JAV, not anime/visual novels or w/e the gravure & adult idols sometimes do work for. "Young white girls" are a niche in japanese porn - schoolgirls being groped etc. O'Neil did some fairly standard scenes (e.g. interracial girl/girl) as far as I know.

That said, she does style herself as a "geek girl", goes to cons dressed as various characters etc etc. - there was a minor flare up a few years back when a Cracked columnist called her a fake over that stuff. So it's not inconceivable she'd find work in a similar vein to Jessica Nigri.

Being a damsel in distress with occasional help is not the best version.
Just because TVtropes says it makes it applicable to everything in life. 2k3 April started as a scientist then did nothing for the rest of the series except marry Casey.

Mirage April turned out to be
a product of Kirby's magic crystal
. Even Peter Laird didn't know what to do with her.

I think 2k3 was a decent series, but I'm telling you Mirage's influcence isn't the "Be all, end all" authority. Nick TMNT is proving that right now. Kunoichi April is gonna steal the throne, but until then, April with a normal job is the best we've had.

I've always thought Ninja Turtles was only good when it wasn't taking itself too seriously. That's the biggest reason why the new show is so good. They went back to the goofy charm of the original cartoons.

That's because April wasn't much of a focus in 2k3, but rather the turtles. She wasn't even a total scientist, more like the local geek to go with Don. While she didn't appear in the series a lot, she still served more than just being "always captured". That's why I thought the 2k3 did good on her, because she only appeared when she is relevant and the focus was primarily on the turtles.

Again, I'm not against going against the Mirage role (I love the new comic series), it's mostly the pandering I don't like.

I've always thought Ninja Turtles was only good when it wasn't taking itself too seriously. That's the biggest reason why the new show is so good. They went back to the goofy charm of the original cartoons.

Taking itself too seriously =/= having believable struggles.

TV Reporter April was awesome she wasn't always captured either, she was also pretty tough for a woman. Her yellow costume was also iconic for the character, and made her stand out.

The new movie can be good as long as they don't make it OVERLY silly.

I like movie April because she was proactive in the film. Also she was based more on her comic look than the silly yellow jumpsuit despite being a reporter. :p

It's that sort of compromise I love. The 80's TMNT isn't as "distinct" other than the colored headbands, it's mostly based on the comic book as well.

To those who may be curious about the fact Vernon is in this:

From following various TMNT communities and the like it looks like after the film got delayed from Summer 2013 to Summer 2014 the script "Ninja Turtles" where turtles were aliens and the human lead was Casey Jones was scrapped due to poor reception (not just fans but Paramount) and replaced with a new script that followed far closely to the original 1980's cartoon as it's main source.
The Technodrome is in it
. Casey Jones isn't in the movie at all with the new script (remember he was not a major character in the 80's cartoon).

The fact Vernon is in this (had no part in the original Transformers rip-off script) and the title is now fully Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles leads me to believe these sources are true.

None of this means this movie will end up being good(still is the director of Battle LA and starring Megan Fox after all), but it'll probably be a bit more interesting than that old scrapped script at least from a nostalgia perspective.

You know if this rumor is true then I'm ok with that. Also Megan Fox is one of the few ones in hollywood that I find hot even after having had plastic surgery. So I'm ok with her as April. Still liked Fox pre all the surgeries better though. Still won't top the first April though. Man I had such a crush on her when I was younger.

Megan Fox and Micheal Bay movies are the perfect combo. They both look really good but that's about it.

There's no such thing as a wrong opinion... except this one. I rewatched all three recently and the second two just don't hold up at all, but the first remains a very watchable, entertaining and coherent movie.

BIGTIME TV MOGUL #2
This.

Hell I wouldn't even mind if it didn't follow the comic thoroughly, as long as it didn't pander too much to the 80's version. The first movie was amazing because of that.

There's obviously some comic element to the story, as Bay said the ooze that mutates them is alien in origin. That's a clear reference to TCRI, the company in the comic that made the ooze and was driving the truck that it fell off. Since TCRI's workers are the inspiration for the Krang character, and
Bebop, Rocksteady, and the Technodrome
apparently make an appearance, this sounds a lot like a merging of the TCRI storyline with the '80s cartoon characters.

After showing the photos to a coworker, marveling over dat ass, we came to the convlusion:

Enter April O'Neal: Ambitious young reporter looking for the next big story.

April: Why do I have to report the horrible stories like dog shows and yoga routines?

Enter April's rival, sleazy chauvinistic head anchorman who's been secretly sabotaging her career, Will Arnet:

Anchorman: Don't worry about it babe, some day you'll be as good as me and get the good stories. (Camera pans to April's ass and Arnet glaring at it... showing him to be the obvious sexist heel).

Later...

April: Like omg, these turtles are the biggest news story ever!

Anchorman: Drats, I must follow April and find out where she's been sneaking off to. OMG speaking turtles, must steal this story.

(Comedy ensues with Will trying to expose turtles and failing)

Fast forward to scene of Raph and Leo doing a slow motion rise from the street as explosions go off behind them in a post-911 alien attack decimated Manhattan. Cut sceen to GM branded Turtle-Truck being chased by US military... American flag in the background, Mikey eating Pizza Hut, and April standing there, hair blowing in slow mo as Army foot soldiers surround her and the totally awesome turtles.

Sincerely, Michael Bay <3
