Bernie Sanders isn't ruling out a 2020 presidential run

I voted for Bernie in the primaries but I am not oblivious to the difficulties he would have winning a national election.

If you thought the words "email" and "Benghazi" were annoying, the word "socialism" would be far more prevalent.

Still?

But being in bed with Russia is okay?

Keith Ellison as head of DNC would be great- a discussion about him could be it's own thread. That should be it's own thread. He's a fantastic guy with legit progressive cred who is very popular too. Ellison becoming DNC head would clean a lot of stink from the organization.

Warren.

She has it.

Bern would be in his 80s. I think that's too risky.
79.

Probably too old, perhaps only for the undecided. But Warren really isn't a good idea IMO. I never particularly liked her speeches against Trump or found them very effective. Bernie, maybe Tulsi, someone new. Hopefully he can be VP.

Trump is already the oldest president ever to be in office, age 70, before it was Reagan who was 69. If Bernie runs he would be 79.

I would much prefer Elizabeth Warren for 2020.

Yeah. I think the Hillary fans fucked us hard. I think I'd go Warren too. Keith Ellison needs to move up. I want him as a Senator though(my state, MN) and not DNC chair although he'd be 100000000000 times better than lil Debbie. So that's good. Speaking of which though, if Bernie is running for Pres and Ellison(not a corrupt soul like lil Debbie) is DNC chair...it will come off like the same shit the DNC pulled this time. Can't we have a neutral arbiter? Ellison needs to be Senator at some point in time...Klobuchar or Franken need to move on to some other position.

It could be Warren didn't choose sides this time so she can unite the party in 2020. Ammo left in the gun. Bernie just showed her the way.

He'll be Tulsi Gabbard's VP pick to help make sure she connects with the white working class voter.

Tulsi Gabbard is my presidential pick, too.

Veteran, liberal, backed Sanders at the expense of having to leave her seat at the DNC table to do so.

She has no personal or political issues, she's well liked in her home state, enough to be elected and re-elected. She's got about as much experience as Obama, but trades lawyership with military service.

She will likely be the YOUNGEST presidential candidate, too.

We need to lead strong for blue collar workers, and that's where Sanders had the most support. Sanders was also the one to bring light to issues in the black community, but he lost those votes to Clinton (not, as some claim, because none of them liked him -- millennials of ALL ancestry voted predominantly toward him).

I thought this before too, but I disagree after the election we just had.
No one cares about policy.

Booker / Warren in 2020.
That's a winning ticket right there. Even came up with a good campaign slogan for them.

I would've said put Bernie in as the DNC chair, but he offered up Ellison, who is a good choice. They need new blood.

My thoughts exactly. Ellison is a good call. I still kinda want Bernie to step in though and clean house. Nuke that shit from orbit and start over.

Meh - he needs to get behind whomever the party lead is gonna be and help. VP maybe, but too old. Regardless of his passion, he'll be 79. Not gonna get elected.

Then they need to build candidates up during the 4 years and convince other Dems and some other voters that they need the Senate/House back.

Need investments in immortality, stat. I wish the best for Bern and hope he'll be still be well in four more years.

I'll keep my donations to him going as long as I can.

I'd be shocked if he would. He probably had the best chance this year, the DNC clearly wanted no part of him, or anyone else.

I do not get the too old comments. It is about wisdom and experience, not youth and flamboyance. If he proves to be physically capable of doing it, then he should definitely run...

Booker would be terrible. wall st ties and the disastrous charter school education scandal. He's a good speaker but senator is as high as he goes

What's the context of this? I keep hearing jokes about him running, chasing buses and all.

Dont do it. Take a step back and think of the greater good.

That kind of ego first bullshit got the DNC and America where it is today.

Respect the hell out of Bernie but he needs to help rebuild the DNC and when it comes time for the primaries he needs to step back, say he is too damn old and shake hands with someone he believes in.

man can u imagine trump giving the state of the union address????

bruhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Imagine the first Correspondence dinner. What comedian would agree to that?

Jeff Ross: So I was given this big list of things that I can't make a joke about... So I'm here to sing about flowers in the Spring.

Bernie should really just fucking join the party so that he can credibly influence its future. Enough with the one foot in, one foot out thing.

This could all be a ploy to keep people engaged in the process of caring about our country and he backs out at the last second.

If Bernie does decide to run for President he needs to not run for Senate in 2018. He needs to be out on the trail and not worrying about his votes in office. That will save him plenty of mileage and is fair to his state.

Well if Bernie had a younger VP, then the vote would be okay. Someone young that would keep his ideals moving forward and on track.

I'm excited to see him already make comments and actions he wants or will take for the democratic party.

DNC needs to hand over the keys to Sanders/Warren to rebuild and refocus the party. Sanders may be too old, maybe not. Warren might be safer bet for 2020. Maybe a fresher face. But in the meantime, those two can and should be a key part in the party's reconstruction. They can help find those new faces.

He's already said that when he runs for Senate(might change if he decides to run for Prez and give up the Senate bid)...that he would run as a Democrat.

More than anything we need new blood in the party. We can't keep leaning on stagnant members to fix what is broken.

To be fair, he is a very recent member of the party...

Even though it would mean losing her as my Senator, I'd be in favor of Gillibrand.

People don't care about Wall Street and the billionaires. They just voted one in, lol.

Bernie and Warren would be best motivating the base in the midterms to get new blood in. Barack and Biden, too.
