Sure I will take MH on PS4 if multiplayer is free.
If MH5 goes PS4/Switch, that depends on if Nintendo & Sony play nice for cross-system play (like SFV's PS4-PC cross-play).I'm cool with whatever they do, but I really hope whatever they choose, they don't split the userbase.
It would kill the multiplayer community.
Seems like it, and 4chan (with the most recent archive use of the original post) has a quote that quotes these as well as the original, and they seem to come from the same source:
http://boards.4chan.org/vg/thread/158559686#p158562935 and http://boards.4chan.org/vg/thread/158601558#p158651575 which all seem to chain back to the original.
Which reads like confused nonsensical bullshit.
Or one of the greatest dramadies to soon unfold.

Souls and Monster Hunter are not the same at all. For one there is no lock on in MH and it can cause issues when a monster blocks the entire screen by jumping in front of you.
A lot of challenge from MH is fighting outdated design and putting up with it. That won't fly with most westerners.
Also has anyone gotten the surveys from Capcom? I know I brought it up before but tgey are looking at big change uos to the series, like health bars for monsters and no timer. I took a survey about this stuff around 4Us release.

Yea fucking noob western console gamers ruin everything. It's not like we are the #1 supporter of the #1 action RPG series right now or anything. But I guess Souls is 4 noobs that can't beat a great jaggi
I think MH needs to evolve eventually and let's not pretend it's perfect as it is (even though it is heh heh).
I welcome changes and additions. Why? Because I trust the developers..
It's also ridiculous to just discredit that rumor after what Capcom said here, 4chan or not.
They gambled on Nintendo and made a mistake. Had they sided with the PS4 as platform of choice, it would have grown exponentially in the west, especially in the Twitch/Streaming era of gaming. Just my 2 cents.
I think you are misunderstanding me
They push the SKU the will perform in Japan and do something else for Global
Honestly Switch makes the most sense but it also doesnt make sense to ignore the global install base numbers
Based on what they are saying here they intend to serve BOTH markets soo... Capcoms words not mine
In the beginning games like RR5, VF5 and Gundam Musou were all underperforming on PS360. The only company who really hit the ground running was Capcom on 360 with Dead Rising and Lost Planet. Of course they also hit it big on Wii with core games immediately with RE4 and REUC tripling and doubling their targets respectively. Too bad they never followed that up with a real ground up Wii RE bit then that was sort of emblematic of how 3rd parties approached Wii. If you don't put in the work you won't get the rewards.
And where are all these companies talking about their PS4 success? At best we get IR multiplat results but that's virtually never platform specific and often even folds in last gen. Koei Tecmo in particular has been doing awful on basically every platform in the west recently (bar Wii U, lol). And we both know you don't really need me to comb through the NPD or PAL charts for you to cite DQ Heroes, Toukiden or SFV, I've seen you pulling defense in those threads too.
If you think a PS4/X1 monster hunter is going to come close to what 4U did you're kidding yourself. The games still sell 4 million units in Japan and currently about 1 million in the West. Where are you expecting the sales to appear from?
I 100% believe they have to move the series to consoles at some point. But there is literally no way they can make up the lost Japanese sales internationally if the go console only.
Maybe Capcom is fine with that. Who knows but arguing like this was Capcom ignoring the market is literally pie in the sky wishing.
yea, I mean look at SFV. 1.4 million between. PS4 and PC. I mean MHX which sold 4.9 million wishes it could achieve 1.4 million copies shipped.
They can split it into a portable line and console line.
That will not happen unless it's f2p, and going by how that feature "works" in MHFO, Capcom already has a really strange idea of what you are able to do as a f2p title.
You're either paying for a console subscription, or you're paying for a game subscription.

The issue is that until Switch was this possible? They did 3U on WiiU (and I was hoping for 4U on WiiU) but I dont think they would have gotten away with that on PS4.
I agree now that we know what Switch ia this makes sense. I am saying that they literally couldnt do thia however until recently. I am also saying unless Sony wrote a big ass check that 4chan rumour is not true.
From Capcom IR, million sellers only;I'm curious about this, can anyone post the sales numbers for the entire series across all platforms? Would be appreciated.

What I think really trips people up is that the 4chan rumor stats they're doing this with the next mainline Monster Hunter game, and then having a separate Portable line for Switch. Given the West is not the main market for the series, you would expect the Western product to be the spin-off instead. Once we get past that though, I really don't think this is something that would be weird or bizarre assuming we view Capcom as a company that can still afford to make HD console titles.
From Capcom IR, million sellers only;
Monster Hunter Freedom (PSP) 1,300,000
Monster Hunter Freedom 2 (PSP) 2,400,000
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (PSP) 3,700,000
Monster Hunter Tri (Wii) 1,900,000
Monster Hunter Portable 3rd (PSP) 4,900,000
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (3DS) 2,600,000
Monster Hunter 4 (3DS) 4,100,000
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate (3DS) 4,100,000
Monster Hunter Generations (3DS) 4,100,000
Better stop that decline asap, PS4 save us!
They can split it into a portable line and console line.
Main reason why I will stick to handheld version, assuming Nintendo will not add online service subscription. But if they do though,... lol.
Yeah, those additional posts, if they're from the original poster, sound pretty far-fetched. At least, if it's about a mainline "Monster Hunter." But if it weren't, then the "panicking" wouldn't make sense.
Hahaha, oh my god. If this is real this is really as dramatized as it gets. Makes the original rumor he posted less credible because this seems just so insane, but what do I know.
It's projected to do 2 million in about 2 weeks of sales. They are just setting up for the Future. 3DS is just about done bro. XX is only projected at 2 million (we will see how it actually does)
It makes total sense they would look in Ps4's direction when pushing for global growth

The 4 chan is rumor is interesting but I dont think anyone here accepts it as real
All my arguments are based on Capcoms statements in the OP

There have been a number of posts here taking it with some validity. Unless it's a money hat (whichbis fine I dont care) I think its rubbish. I think MH5 hits switch/PS4.
Oh its crazy shit, but its funny to read and pontificate upon especially if it is the same source and it is legit, lol.
Makes no fucking sense to me, but then I do not share in the foresight of Capcom which allows them to see beyond the veil of time and foresee strong legs for SFV.
Potential growth (console only approach to cater to the West) vs. guaranteed success (by ensuring the Japanese market has a handheld version available).
Honestly this just comes off as Capcom realising how badly their franchises are floundering and since Monster Hunter is one of their only franchises they haven't screwed up yet they're banking on it to put the company back on track.
Lord help Capcom is Resi 7 underperforms or else Monster Hunter might be their only reliable franchise left.
Is anyone suggesting they arent going for BOTH?
Outside of the 4 Chan rumor?

Having played Tri and 3U to death, there's just something different about MH on a console than a handheld. Playing Portable 3rd and Freedom Unite with friends in the same room instead of online is just a way more fun experience. I think Monster Hunter works best as a portable franchise.
Capcom should stop flooding the market with yearly entries. Now that Double Cross is coming out there'd be no reason for me to get around to buying a current MH game.
Yes? A lot of people in this thread are, which is why I said in an earlier post that the only practical, reasonable options here are: PS4/Switch or just Switch. (Short of an astronomical moneyhat.)
I would love to see them try. To make MH a success on PS4/XBO not only would Capcom have to change the gameplay up and make it more friendly and modern for new players, they'd also have to finally implement 21st century graphics and tech, which I'm sure they would hate to no end.
Probably because the comments that Capcom is making seem to correlate with the rumor in a small way
I get the small connection but its not like its anything but a minor coincidence at this point
