I got that Ring Doorbell.
Such a great investment.
Such a great investment.
And getting to know people is also part of social interaction. Were you born knowing the people in your social circle ? And is it that hard giving a hand to strangers ? I know I've offered and received help to/from people I didn't know, and everybody was happy about it in the end.
I have done so far , but I wish I had a eye viewer thing on my door (it's solid wood) so that I could see if it's the dickhead above me ringing the doorbell, so I could ignore it if I see it's him.
I answer because I like the rest of the people who live in my flat, but all he ever does is make threats over making too much noise when I'm pretty sure he imagines it all himself. I honestly don't feel safe if it's him.
Modern life is depressing. People now don't answer the door or when they do its delivery people. What about friends and people that you live around? I always get people ringing for somewhat or the other. The only time I don't newer is when I'm a sleep
For 5% you glance out of the window. For nearly all neighborhood things you use Facebook groups.
These are literally not my problem. My door isn't an invitation for me to solve some randos problems.
What's weird about not wanting to talk to salesmen/other random people you don't know showing up on your doorstep?
Do you roll down your car window and talk to panhandlers on the corner when they walk up at a red light? Because this is the same thing, just at your home instead
You can drill through solid wood and peepholes just screw in place. One of the easier DIY jobs.
If you were a woman you will understand the paranoia.I could never live this paranoid. I open the door without checking who it is. Still alive.

Can't you people just be normal for once.
Seriously. Scared of answering doors and phones? So sad. Can't you people just be normal for once.

I answer the door all the time if it's knocked.
Doesn't matter if I'm expecting someone or not.
Doesn't matter if I was given an early notice or not.
Doesn't matter if I don't know the person or not.
You guys are fucking weird AF, jesus christ get a life and learn to live it.
Thanks, I have a life, my own business, masters degree with a 4.0 average, husband of 11 years, house and car. Still not answering the door to people I do not know. It's my house, I pay for it, if I don't want to answer the door to someone I don't know I don't have to.
I want in on the sequel, "Knock Knock".I am working on a script for a horror movie thats about knocking on doors. I call it, "knock".

I want to point out that the concept of not answering a door was considered so outlandish that it was used as a joke in The IT Crowd.

Who doesn't answer the door? Wtf?
Smartphone-obsessed millennials and Gen Zers are reportedly "so used to texting upon arrival that the sound of a ringing doorbell freaks them out; 'it's terrifying.'" For me, these words couldn't ring more true. Whenever I'm headed to a friend's house, the thought of putting my finger on the doorbell doesn't even cross my mind. I send a text, WhatsApp or even a Snap to let them know I'm outside. To some, this might sound odd or even slightly awkward.
Someone just buzzed our flat and I'm doing that apparently millennial thing of not answering the door.

But, there are a few reasons for this behaviour. Firstly, I worry that by pressing the doorbell, I might be pinging the wrong property, alerting a complete stranger to my presence, resulting in a hideously awkward interaction that could have been avoided. Secondly, who's to even say that this doorbell even works? I could be just standing here like an idiot forever waiting on a friend who has no idea that I'm here. And, thirdly, when my phone's already in my hand, and I'd rather avoid the former two scenarios, isn't it just easier to text my friend? It's certainly less panic-inducing.
When it comes to the doorbell at my own flat, I'd really rather it didn't exist at all. That's because I find it completely invasive. My friends and family text or call me when they're at the door. So, when the doorbell sounds unannounced, I panic.
Why would you answer the door? Who knocks on your door in 2017? You don't need to answer to anyone.
Why should I answer the door?
Is there anyone who actually feels calm about somebody knocking on their door? Stop knocking on my door. You're up to no good by knocking on my door.
I refuse to believe anybody feels calm when they hear the door knock. Do you answer the door blind?

I always speak to them in Japanese and tell them no, and then I shut the door. They don't come back.I used to enjoy pretending not to know Japanese when NHK came knocking. Then one day he came back with a pamphlet in English and suddenly I didn't know how to speak that either.
Me too. It's awesome.I have a video doorbell I can talk through, so I can answer the doorbell without having to go to the door.

GAF never ceases to amaze.
For all you paranoia nuts checking your peepholes to see who's there; what if whoever is knocking has their gun to the peephole and shoots you through the eye when you peek through. Did you think about that, yeah. Yeah! Woooooo 🤔
If someone knocks on my door I get up from whatever I'm doing and I go and answer it like a normal person.
Yeah. I mean, what is the risk? You have to talk to someone? A burglar, rapist or other home invader isn't gonna ring the doorbell. If anything, answering the door when the house seems empty may actually deter them from breaking in. Some burglars check if anyone is home by ringing first.
