Wii U looks like it is off to a great start. People seem to be genuinely excited for it. Maybe it is just the fact that it is the successor to the Wii or maybe it is the game pad, don't know.
What about an 360 controller?
So 20 per store.I work at Gamestop and I think we've gotten like 3 people to jump on this list over the past two days. There's no requirement to put money down and honestly, the demand for it just hasn't been there so far. Very small anecdote, but I can't help but buy into it since I already think the Wii U isn't going to do very well. Confirmation bias at it's best, I suppose.
hmmm.....4,434 Gamestops in the US = minimum of just under 90K for the chain nationwide? I wonder what kind of allotment other retailers were promised as a minimum.
I never get tired of seeing Nintendo succeed. Take that analysts.
So basically Wii U preorders are doing well. Not surprising. The home console market has been begging for new hardware.
I imagine it'll at least be enough of a fad item among children and parents to make demand tight, though I'm expecting it won't be as bad as the Wii itself was given that had LINES on the day pre-orders opened.
Gamestop doesn't have a per-store limit on preorders. They take them for as long as they can nationally and then stop when they hit their national threshold. The point of preorders is to see how many each store needs. So putting a cap defeats that purpose.

Wii-U demand "off the charts"
If your chart was incredibly short, achievable

Retail market revenue has been dropping YoY at an alarming rate since 2010.I'm amused by this thread and the other thread where Gamestop anounces and says how fast the Wii U is being preordered but people try to dismiss it through various ways. Gamestop doesn't have special alliances or biases towards Nintendo. If it was Reggie, nintendo pr or a nintendo fansite that's one thing but its Gamestop they don't dabble into the console wars.
You have proof of this?
Man it's amazing how much people (I don't necessarily mean you Medalion) want the Wii U to fail and fail badly.
I think all the systems are going to have great games, the problem is that the Wii U will have the Nintendo franchises that make it more difficult for Third Parties to flourish on their consoles.
The Wii U might actually have the chance be able to get more Third Party sales but still have the Nintendo brand names......is this why people want the thing to fail so badly?

And Wii U is the life boat for at least another year, so they'll wave at it as hard as they can to save them, even it is only a boat and not a cruiser
Well, yes, but we don't know if the smartphones/tablets haven't replaced Wii as the casuals' to go place for their entertainment fixRight around the time Nintendo stopped supporting the Wii

Here's a novel conjecture: What if people are fine with both at the same time?
Marketing ploy from Gamestop
Im not falling for the hype again , I will just walk in to my nearest walmart and buy it. Just like the Wii

It is selling out everywhere, though. Don't underestimate the demand for a new console after all these years. Especially the HD successor to the Wii, which had insane sales. Not saying you will not find one on launch day, but I don't deny the demand one bit.
How the?...
nevermind
Well played Iwata and co.
Limit Wii U availability and cause mass hysteria amongst consumers!
Pardon?
The poster you replied to was being sarcastic... I think
