Sony producers are going to be kicking themselves for allowing that trophy through, sounds like it'll cause a few reviewers to knock off points. The Adam Sessler/Polygon review certainly indicates that (not that they are wrong to do so).

While I find I rarely agree with Arthur Gies game scores (we just don't seem to enjoy the same games), I do enjoy that he is actually trying to highlight misogyny in games. I remember him calling out Far Cry 3 for some of the same things.

Picked this name back when I was ignorant of such things. That's not to say South Park is particularly problematic with women. I don't recall anything recently and old episode specifics have left my mind, but there are plenty of issues I've had with the shown over the past couple years.

Sessler should know that the other GOW games do not allow you to change difficulty mid-game. The trophy is a bit silly and unnecessary, but I think he went overboard. There have been other GOW games with trophies that are on the riskier side. It's a stupid joke, not a political statement from SSM.
I think I'll like this game from what I've seen with the reviews. Complaining about difficulties or the story not being as epic as 3 isn't a problem.

You're probably right: GoW is beneath them.

You mean the same Platinum who basically produce bomba titles? Platinum is good for gameplay mechanics, and mediocre in all other aspects. Giving away a title like God of War, which is Sonys third biggest franchise, would be one of the dumbest things they could do. It will never happen. And it would be senseless to reboot or drastically change God of War at this point.

It would be "senseless" to just keep pumping out dumb Kratos games, which is what they did here. There's more franchise fatigue for GoW than perhaps any game in the industry. And just saying "it's Sony's third biggest franchise" isn't an argument to your point, in my opinion. That's exactly why they need someone to come in and give it a fresh new take, so the franchise remains relevant. Kratos was boring three games ago.

Why would they give it to Platinum/Kamiya , GOW sell more than all there action games combine .
They should reboot using SSM , then they could try out new game play ideas and not be stuck using the blades , Greek Mythology and Kratos .

God of War sells because it's called "God of War." It's running on fumes and the name it rightfully established for itself a long time ago. It would still be called "God of War" and be a Sony exclusive, but this time it would be, y'know, fun and interesting.

Don't see the point in rebooting with the same studio. Big missed opportunity there. Let them make a completely new game in a new genre — try to make a new hit without Jaffe.

That would have been terrible. Platinum is good but they're not suited for a God of War game in the slightest. They're incapable of hitting even a fraction of the graphical and artistic highs of Santa Monica. They're a complete mis-match.

Quite a number of the reviews mention pacing issues. Which, I recall, was one of the major problems with God of War 3.

So yes, it doesn't seem worse. It sounds like the same mistakes were made twice, but I will reserve judgement until I've played it.

But this is a killing-spree game based in Greek Mythology. There are men and WOMEN gods who are downright awful. That trophy is based on that enemy in particular. Not women of the free, modern world, nor does it represent the views of the designers.

We need to relax and let the extremes of art flourish and affect us in an emotional way. We can't let expression stagnate.

This trophy isn't "an extreme expression of art", it's a shitty and crass joke that did not need to be a thing. And more importantly not crass in a Jimmy Carr way where it's simultaneously clever.
It shouldn't define the narrative around the game but it was a bad idea and you won't see me calling Sessler or the Polygon writer a whiner over it.

You don't need to play MGS3 to understand other MGS games. The little that matters in MGS4 is thoroughly explained anyways. Therefore it is "inessential". They didnt say the story was bad, they said it wasn't necessary. That is a stupid complaint. Is the story good or bad? That's what they should judge.
