There is a trophy for training dummies? How do you find them - just visit every camp? I remember one at a Banuk camp and I was hitting it a lot just for fun so armour was falling off but it didn't trigger a counter or anything.

Yes. There all are in Nora territories. A total of
23
dummies. You can watch their location in this video.

merchants further intothe story open up more weapons, I got three purple bows

Yeah I have three purple bows but I only have one purple hunter bow. I don't seem to be able to buy two (so one can have all fire mods for fire damage and one with tear mods for hardpoint arrows)

I just went through my post history and added the links here, should be all of them here I think.

If I didn't own it already, these gifs would've made me buy it!

Just Platniumed it. First platinum since Uncharted 2...thats how much I love this game.
Game progression is at 94.6, think I only have to get the Shadow Outfits.
Also - is there a secret side mission anywhere, are there 21 or 22 total side missions?
Total playtime: exactly 43 hours...was worth it such an awesome experience, can't wait for the sequel

I forgot what game does this but it would be awesome if this game let you issue challenges to you friends.

Like if you beat a behemoth with just a carja war bow and default armor in 3 mins, you should be able to send that to your friends as a challenge for them to beat your time under those same circumstances

That'd be dope.

Has anyone finished the game without doing the
Petra questline?

I would love to know how the last mission pans out when you didnt help her with that weapon

Don't have to be aggressive, be smart. Know what you fighting, where the weak points are and which weapons to use accordingly.

I really don't know why he chose to arrow corrupt Thunderjaw? If the plan was to let both fight each other then that's fine but I didn't see that. Also I'm sad to tell you that Disc Launcher no longer has 12 bullets, it's only 8 now and they patched it in lately

i died so many times.

A little way past the Dawngate (I think that's its name) into the Carja territory I followed an icon on the map for a Tallneck and it led me right into the middle of a bandit camp. Do I have to clear the camp out first or something?

Probably about 20 hours in or so, finally decided to take out the two corrupted zones and access Daytower. Then got absolutely destroyed by my first
Stormbird
So I'll probably head back into the sacred lands for a bit and explore all the areas I've yet to go to.

I'm really taking my time, I've spent ages in Devil's Thirst and Grief just soaking in the world. Some of the woodlands are just wonderful, it's so atmospheric being stalked through the trees by the beasts. Also found a nest of
Glitterhawks
in a corner of the map, tried to kite one towards me so I could hone my tactics for taking it out and ended up agro'ing every enemy in the vicinity. Cue mad dash through the moonlit woods, red lights everywhere, went to ground near some ruins and watched a load of watchers and a couple of sawtooth stalk past. So good, it's just such a great game.

Absolutely love this game, but I just want to say that the rewards for turning in the collectables are shit and not even worth the time gathering unless you're planning on getting the platinum.

The set up for each Tallneck encounter is different, but you essentially need to do the same thing for each of them. Find high enough ground so you can jump onto one of the makeshift platforms jutting out of their necks and climb your way up from there. How you get there is really up to you. I don't think any of the encounters specifically require clearing enemies out first (though at the very least you may need to temporarily distract some away from your point of interest). My first order of business for each Tallneck was to follow the Tallneck's path and then find the highest ground I could access on that route to get in jumping range of their neck.

Game is great but I need to bitch and moan about some of the crap in here.

Fighting humans is the worst part of this game, it's either a snipe-fest from the bushes (zzz) or I'm swinging my spear/dodge rolling like a crazy person.
Aloy:(swings weapon)
Scrub Human:(Blocks and only takes 5 Dmg)
Aloy: "Holy crap there's blocking in this game?"
Scrub: "No only we can do that" (smacks Aloy for 300 Dmg) "Get back to rolling!"
I probably should use the Rattler more?

Why do I need 20 Armor slots? Am I suppose to be swapping my armor out all the time?

The Story Mission at the
Sun Ring
You do some exploring and find some audio logs, Cool! Oh, there's 80 of them just in this one room, ok let me run around in circles so I can listen to all of these. Then there is a long cut-scenes/dialog after all that. OMG I DONT CARE ANY MORE I HAVENT KILLED ANY DINOS IN THE LAST HOUR THIS IS PAINFUL. Seriously, after this point I was burnt out on any dialog this game tossed my way.

Just finished the game. GOTY material. Even the end credits are amazing. I'm amazed at how well they weave the back story into the current events. I think I might go for the platinum (my second after Bloodborne).

Do it.

Also: nice nickname

PLATINUM GET.

I like what you had to do to get it. It made me discover more story stuff and made exploration more fulfilling. Def a fun trophy hunt.

The way they did the trophies was perfect imo, showed a lot of attention by GG.

Yup. I usually don't bother with trophies, but this is so well-designed.

By the time I'm almost done with the story and exploration, I almost completed my platinum.

Just wondering:
i just found Olin at the excavation site
, how far am i into the main story? Also, i'm getting my ass kicked in that fight. I guess this is the moment where it becomes obvious that i'm not good at this game.. so far, i've been managing quite ok by just doing the basics and avoiding anyhting large but i guess it won't keep working. I guess you really need to learn the weaknesses of each machine and exploit them. Might do some random battles to see if i can learn.

How much of the main story do I have left? Wanna know if I should try to finish the game off before the weekend ends.

I just finished the Dervahl quest in Meridian and the Grave-Hoard one.

After finishing the main story missions today, the game is a solid 8/10 for me. Really good game but not great.

I'll see if i bother get platinum in this, still got 1 trophy left in Nioh i need to finish up for the plat in that. Maybe next weekend.

Late game (?) question: Just finished
fighting the behemoth in the arena, and prior to that Sylen said I need to complete any errands before progressing. Can I still complete side quests and other stuff before I continuing with the next mission? I'm supposed to be going back to Nora.
Thanks!

Great to see this topic on the front page for so long and great that people really seem to enjoy this game for the most part. This is a game where i wish i was 16 again so i would have enough time to play this game all day.

You can even finish up after completing the game. No worries.

Any info on how to get into the
grave hoard
in the north area of the map? If it involves spoilers or unlocks with the story then please just say that and I'll leave it for now.

The Grave Hoard is part of the story yes. Probably can only reach it when you reach that point of the story.

Thanks.

I'm showing 22 training dummies. I checked a guide and there should be one outside mothers rise, next to the little hut with the campfire and guy standing outside? If so I can't see it there.

Edit: what is it with GAF powers? I spend 20 minutes looking in a location, post out of desperation and then I immediately find it :)

Finished the game, all side quest completed, all collectables /everything done.

I liked the story but game play felt a bit too repetitive for me. In terms of most of the side quest

Mainly was track and kill sort of missions

I would have liked a bit more variation in sidequest and main story.

Also curious if this is in game.

Not in game I looked. If it is lemme know

There are no points of no return despite what the game tells you, so complete the game how you like and you'll still be placed directly before the final mission to complete every side quest and collectible to your heart's content after you beat it. Some side quests even have later game main quest specific dialogue that you only hear if you don't do all the side quests right away.

That's my video lol

Corruption because if you watch closely, I left the first one with about 20% health left and the second Thunderjaw finished it off.

So where can i find
Sobeck Ranch
in the game?

You can't because it's outside the playable area.

Man, that Old Ones story got
really fucking depressing. Total biological extinction through robot bio slurry that was conceived by greed of a rich madman. Followed by cultural extinction by the same madman who for SOME reason had NOT been court-martialed for being the reason that all of EARTH would die! Like, fucking hell, he is the reason everyone is gonna die, take all his assets, court-martial the fuck and then hang him in a cage in the slowly dying atmosphere of Earth to watch first hand the result of his actions before he dies of suffocation!

Just beat the game yesterday. Final thoughts:

The game is absolutely gorgeous. After a while I noticed the shortcuts and tricks they used to pull off such a feat (dont look too far ahead), but standing in the moment, the lush foliage, the great character models, the animations, it's all beautiful. Combat tends to be a blast, although some of the larger enemies become tedious once you learn that you just need to spam whatever they're weak to and tie them down with ropes and spam heavy arrows into their weakpoints. I do love being able to craft on the fly and the upgrade system was very well implemented. Stealth is some of the best I've seen in open world games. From the stealth to the combat to the crafting, idk. It's all very slick and has this veneer of polish that most linear games don't have let alone open world. Story wasn't very good until the latter third of the game. Aloy and the present day story aren't very intriguing. However, the events of tt past were extremely interesting. I was much more involved with the story of the Old Ones. Sylens/z (however you spell his name) is probably the best character in the game and
I love that he's set up to be the antagonist of the next game
. With that said, the world is so well designed, that it begs to be explored. Even without real motivation, I spent a lot of time just walking around looking at things, amazed at the beauty and production values.

The main missions and a few of the side quests are great but the vast majority of the errands and sidequests are some of the worst I've played recently. They all boil down to going to X location, using your focus to find clues, following a trail, killing some things, repeat ad nauseam. The following trails was even worse than the Witcher 3 and at least those side quests would have interesting stories. Also, I think some of the hit boxes on a few enemies are complete bullshit (looking at you rockbreakers).

Overall, probably give it an 8/10. A promising new franchise for Guerrilla and Sony.

Edit: Oh, and fighting humans is absolute shit. Please don't bring this to the sequel.
