How to get a Redbull code for Destiny's Exclusive Mission.

I bought 18 cans of this shit so I could send codes out to international DGAF members who couldn't get them otherwise. Saved the last one for myself and tried to use it today, figured I'd use the XP bonus to level my alf.

Already been used.

Go fuck yourself.

Shiiieeeet.

Bungie has got some fucking explaining to do, fucking idiots. 'HUR DUR LET'S JUST USE DIFFERENT COMBINATIONS!' As if that wouldn't be exploited..

In addition, you can thank Bungie, Activision, Red Bull, and marketing firm X for their stupidity in code generation.

Are the codes only available from 7/11 red bull? If so i don't blame people for doing this considering the majority of the world doesn't have 7 fucking 11's. I planned on buying some redbulls for it but it's 7/11 only i guess im fucked cause the closest 7/11 is like 3 states over.

Any reason to think that Bungie made the site with the code redemption?

Could be a third party contracted out by Red Bull or somebody else for all we know.

only for the month of July it will hit everywhere else after that.

Amazing, isn't it? All that goodwill Bungie had generated with gamers that had built up over years of success . . . flushed down the toilet in less than one year.

am I wrong in thinking that you are stealing codes from people that are paying for real cans? (like myself)

This does seem like fraud. Regardless of how people feel about the Red Bull promotion, guessing codes so they can be used before people legitimately obtain them sounds slimy to me. Even if the code creation/redemption system was incompetently built, that's hardly a justification to try to redeem a code that rightfully belongs to a customer instead. You'd hope everyone would have some kind of moral compass about something like this, but judging from some of the responses in this thread, I guess not.

You are stealing, and the site flags you for trying to game the system?

something is definitely dumb here.

Actually, the site would probably flag you too, if you tried to enter a legitimately obtained code over and over again due to the site problems.

For example, during E3 I got an IP rate limit warning just trying to access GAF.

What about EU? As this site is only for US and Canada.

If you are on Xbox One, you should have no issues.

If you are on PS4, you must have the US version of the game to use US DLC. If you have the EU version of the game on PS4, you're screwed and have no way to access the mission.

edit: Turns out it's not true, the codes are available for everyone.

I entered 3 codes today. Didn't have any problems, it was slow but it entered. Now the site is down.

the entire problem even with the site is because people are trying to steal.

The core gameplay loop in Destiny is finding exploits, whether that is treasure caves, boss fight disconnects, or transmedia code redemption.

Queue Luke Smith apology

"Yeah, I can totally empathize with those people. But the Red Bull Quest is a pretty cool package for people who want to pursue that stuff. Otherwise, surely what you're saying is that you would want to buy more cans of Red Bull, right? [Laughs] Well, we have nothing more to talk about regarding your opportunity to spend extra money in Destiny, other than The Taken King Red Bull Quest and the 7-11 Red Bull cans we've announced."

You call it stealing, I call it exploiting a very badly made system. Not that I did it, but Bungie has no one but themselves to blame(Or Red Bull, whoever cocked up this 6 digit combination that is extremely finite) for this.

6 digits, jesus christ.

In some ways, Destiny is the ultimate gaming experience. It's all metagame to make up for the lack of videogame.

Yes, but if you tried now to enter a code over and over again, it would *maybe* give you the same error other people are having. It's not a way to flag abusers of the system, just a network feature.

If someone tries to enter a valid, non-used code on first try, even if they're just abusing it, the platform hasn't got a way to differentiate that user from one that legally bought a drink. Thus, the IP limit isn't a way to actually stop abusing "made up" codes.

That's really not the problem.

It's the fact that any combo of three digits plus throw in two othe digits works.
Plus that you can easily guess a large number of times on the red bull site.
I am guessing the blame lies with red bull.

No this is stealing, You can try to defend this but it makes you and anyone else that does this really pathetic.

The fact that this has been keygenned already is hilarious. Either Red Bull, Bungie or Activision fucked up massively by making codes this easy to keygen. Considering the hiding place (underneath the tab), I'm inclined to point at Red Bull here, although whoever decided that the codes should be a combination of three specific letters and three specific digits needs a pay cut for his/her genius.

Yes I understand that, the system is under load from people spamming codes.

whats the point here? that guy is pissed because it flagged him when he is trying to steal code is just being ridiculous. Yes I understand it flagged him and could me because the site is having issues.

I have no moral issues at all with exploiting such a hilariously broken system

unfortunately the site is currently too broken for me to grab one

All videogame user rights issues must be explained with a food analogy.

Imagine you're visiting a buffet. You pay for entry, and are offered a 'premium plate' for a few bucks more that entitles you to some exclusive fried shrimp that you can't otherwise get. There's only so much fried shrimp.

You get in line (near the front), and fill your plate. You get to the 'exclusive' fried shrimp, and find that there's no verification to get said shrimp. Since you didn't pay, it is stealing to take the shrimp. However, its' inevitable that with so many people behind you in line - some people who paid extra for the shrimp won't get any. Even if you don't take any, somebody behind you will steal regardless.

So is it immoral to take the shrimp? If you're only leaving more shrimp to be stolen?

Those aren't PSN codes. If you enter the code on Redbull you will be directed to the bungie-net site, which is universal for any platform. So it doesn't matter where you live and what platform you're playing on, Bungie will unlock said mission and bonus for your Destiny account. It's not tied to a region

Bring up the code redemption form and then have everybody make for the right side of the page where there's more cover and fewer ads. Then spam the submission form with everybody's 365 Ghallies before group wiping. Respawn at the page header and snipe the code generator until it drops to one knee - that's your signal that your code is valid and the site is vulnerable. Now have a defender pop a bubble to protect you from the site's IP flag attack and then rinse and repeat the sniping and wiping for another few minutes until you take the site down.

Voila. +200 Red Bull rep, a Token of Brand Damage attained. Easy.

Fantastic

My can of Redbull says it comes with a code for Destiny stuff. I purchased this can.

You did not, you stole my code by guessing it.

but whatever somehow its the same as food being taken at a buffet.

No. You can use a code. Those aren't Playstation Network codes. these are codes that unlock certain things on your bungie.net account which aren't tied to a region. (people on reddit already used their codes on their EU accounts, worked just fine)

It's obviously immoral. Just saying that other people are going to steal as well doesn't justify it at all

...that said I'd totally take the shrimp, but I'm not going to pretend I was in the right or anything

I really do like Destiny, but I can't help but enjoy the trainwreck the past week has been for the game.

This system is so hilariously broken, it reminds me of those infinite 48 hour Xbox Live trials you could get from that Tropicana Twister contest site years ago.

A friend of mine just entered a random jumbling of numbers and letters and it went through, he's dying of laughter while I think this whole thing is a dick move.

You're stealing codes from paying customers. Despite the fact that this promotion shouldn't exist in the first place, it's not a good idea to punish those who bought into it.

But still, this is a great fuck you to Redbull AND Bungie.

Edit: go fuck yourself whoever was in charge of putting this promotion together. can't get too mad at people who took advantage especially because i'm sure many didn't realize what this actually was.
Oh, people know all too well. Don't go easy on them. It's expected, but it's still a dick move that cuts other people out of things they rightly bought.

I heard wind of this yesterday and specifically went out to buy a dumb-ass can of Red Bull so I could ensure that the $3.50 I ended up paying actually unlocked the bonus content for me. It did, thankfully.

Hate on the shitty drink tie-in all you want, but anyone who does this knows that they're taking a code away from someone else who will get home and freak out when the code they bought doesn't work.

Oh, sorry. I've seen region specific promos before, good to see they're bypassing Sony's dumb region-specific codes.

That's my issue with this whole thing for people that are stealing the codes and thinking they are justified doing it. It's affecting people that bought the cans that contain the codes.

The basis of the promotion sucks but anyone saying they are justified stealing codes are in the wrong.

You did not, you stole my code by guessing it.

but whatever somehow its the same as food being taken at a buffet.

My point was more twofold -
A) The framing system is inherently dumb and anti-consumer.
B) Regardless of what your action is, people will be scammed out of their product. If you don't input a guessed code, its' likely somebody else will try to use that same code by guessing before that particular can is purchased. This promotion has already gone up in flames - your actions don't shift the outcome.

Yeah, if someone buys a can and your code has already been used then I feel bad for ya. But Bungie deserves this shit for locking content behind a fucking Red Bull can. Anti consumer bullshit.
