I think the DualShock 4 has more input lag wired than wireless.

1P red left new DS4 wired in USB mode , responding with green bar near the top of the screen. Top = earlier in the frame = slower.

2P blue right old DS4 usb cable connected for charging in wireless mode. Green bar later = faster.
What is your PS4 model? Maybe the new controller is Bluetooth 4.0 and it's not playing nice with Bluetooth 2.5 of old original version PS4
Slim and Pro PS4 has Bluetooth 4.0

Wireless is faster than wired. If Bluetooth is messing up then wired should be faster.

Simple test that anyone else can repeat.

1P red wired new DS4 with USB mode on. 2P blue wireless old DS4.

PS4 camera, captured vs Elgato HD 60 pro at 60fps. Looked at how many times each player won. If there is a 7-10ms difference between the two, we would expect 2P to win ~50% of the time, speed to be the same ~50% of the time. Swapped controllers over at half time just to account for differences between my left and right hands. Not entirely surprised if 1P wins occasionally, given the flaws of trying to push each button at exactly the same time.

Results -

(1p is when DS4 wired wins,
2p is when wireless DS4 wins,
= is when both are at the same time)

Trial 1 = 2p = 2p 1p 2p = = = = = = = = = = 2p 2p 2p 2p =
Trial 2 = = = = 2p 2p 2p 2p = 2p 2p 2p 2p = 1p 2p 2p 2p 2p 2p

1p wins 2x
2p wins 19x
draw 19 times

So, I've improved the presentation of my data a bit, and got the chance to test the wired DS4 with the same setup as the wireless.

The results are shown here. I also tested with interference (maximum interference?) for the Bluetooth, placing two other PS4 controllers in wireless mode, an xbox one wireless controller, my phone actively searching for BT devices and a wireless guitar hero controller physically on top of the PS4, to see if this would have an impact.

Finally, I did a quick trial of the wired vs wireless PS4 controllers, resulting in the wired being slower 2/3 of the time, which would fit with the above test.
