The people who might not have a problem with these kind of games and don't understand why other people might have problems. I thought you were one of those, if not, I'm sorry if I had that wrong.
If you're only having problems with the way he worded himself, that's up to you. In my opinion, even if he did sound strong and exaggerated with his words (which at certain parts he did yeah), I understood what he meant with his message and why he sounded like that.

Right - okay, have to be careful with the word consenting when sex is involved. No, this isn't rape, she is 'consenting' to the sex. My point is that the NPC itself is being created with the sole purpose of being a sexual object. So, while the character is consenting, that character was created with the sole purpose of consenting to sex with the protagonist. I hope that clears it up.
It's not an excuse, it's what Suda does, he does terrible things with game design because he finds it funny. He intentionally puts in this stuff because nobody else does and that's what makes it funny.

Oh okay, call the whole thing off, it is possible to make a mistake in the minigame game and not achieve the goal of sex with the female NPC. Totally validated now.
Suda 51, you really need to stop making games now, since you've offended a games journalist. You clearly share the same morality as your character Mondo. Never has any writer been able to shape a character that doesn't reflect it's creator. You obviously can't be trusted to create content that won't offend someone else.

I've realized that since the game is already being released as it is, there is no longer a need for me to attempt to defend my anticipation of what I feel will be an interesting and entertaining game. To those who are opposed to Gigolo mode, I understand and can sympathize with your concerns, and hope that your opinions and assertions are based on actual gameplay footage and/or personal gameplay experience. I also ask that you not insult or broadly generalize those who plan to play this game.
The word "gigolo" in Japanese has a slang meaning of "playboy" / "ladykiller" in addition to its meaning of a man who lives off women's money.
It's often associated with men who work at host clubs, which isn't prostitution per se--more like "get women to fall for you and buy you things."
A character who has a habit of innocently saying lines that make womens' hearts go pitter-pat without realizing he's doing it is referred to as a "natural gigolo" in Japanese.
It might have been better to rename it in the English version to avoid confusion, since the common usage in English these days seems to be just "male prostitute," but if getting upgrades or something from these characters as a result of romancing them is a notable part of it then maybe it works OK in English.

Frankly, I really don't see the point in Gigolo mode either, but the video is just pathetic. There are things such as BMX XXX and then there's Bayonetta and....this. How anyone can't see the difference between these two categories is way beyond me, but oh well...

I agree with the idea that playing games is a means of experiencing things you can't do in real life, but I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to question the specific things we're doing. Obviously nobody gets hurt, but -- to use an extreme example -- just because nobody gets hurt when animated child pornography is created that doesn't mean it isn't reprehensible.
Any game with a romance sub story that is not forced by the plot can be considered a 'puzzle to be solved'.
'She cried about daddy issues and I had to make dialogue choices' apparently makes it all better.
This "why was the NPC made. What was it purpose." argument is really dumb.
By your logic, all sex in games is rape.

I have my own complaints about something like Mass Effect if that's what you're getting at, but at least they tried to create some kind of reasoning behind the sexual encounter. Whether they were successful or not is a separate debate.
So I couldn't really say if it would be okay or not until I saw it in practice.

I don't feel that buying a woman a drink is some offensive gesture. There are some who think its some huge terrible ordeal though.
