Now that I think about it, CS:GO weapon system (crates, keys, etc) is just fucked up and should be illegal, it works just like slot machines.

Those YouTubers should go directly to jail.

Hope they all go to jail.

I work hard for my money. It's unfair they get to rip people off and take advantage of people for money.

Is it similar to Overwatch loot crates?

With enough attention this could result in regulations towards paid RNG rewards even if this situation isn't caused directly by it.

How entertaining would it be if we ever find out cartels/drug lords/the mafia uses CSGO as a front? Who needs drugs anymore when kids are hooked on video games and youtube?

I was thinking more like systems of payment. Trading in skins, which you could then cleanly convert at will into cash through casinos.

so does cods black market in black ops 3 except u cant sell those just trade in results for more crypto keys. these crates in games in general need to be looked at.

I mean like he should've been consulted an attorney by now and went ghost from the Internet. Yet he's still posting stuff making himself look worse. He's really not very smart.also you don't put the company in your name. You never do that

Yeah I mean Steam more specifically, almost forgot that they opened up the item store and trading stuff. In my head I was specifically thinking of Heathstone which I've been playing recently. Practically the same crate microtransactions but they are not sellable / tradeable. Steam / Valve seem to be the only ones enabling trade / selling of those items

I'd love to be able to trade my Hearthstone cards with friends, honestly.

CS:GO crates are earned through gameplay or purchased, and require paid keys to open. They randomly select a cosmetic item that can then be traded for Steam wallet funds, or real money through third parties allowed by Valve's API. Skins can also be purchased through the Steam community marketplace, with a small cut going to Valve. CS:GO skins are theoretically infinite.

Overwatch loot crates are earned through gameplay or purchased, but do not require any key to open. They randomly select a cosmetic item that can only be applied to your profile and not resold in anyway. There are about 1000 unlockable cosmetics in Overwatch as of writing.

Thus, CS:GO has spiraled into a seedy gambling pit, and the worst Overwatch is gonna get is whales who want to unlock every item.

Alright. So a little bit of history lesson. Please bear with me as I present a few case of witnesses.

DuelSkins.com is "an online csgo gambling website, offering coinflip, roulette and a nice community."

This site was quite popular but as of a few months it has been acting weird, being on and off abruptly. Folks have complained about losing their trades and all their items that they converted over. The admin of the site, WDeV, is stating it's just downtime, but clearly it's bigger. Folks have threatened to alert the police to get their stuff back, and as of now the site redirects to ************, a steam reseller thats actually banned here at GAF.

The administrator of DuelSkin's Steam Community is named "CSGOLotto [3]".

They're one and the same.

Viewing WDev's Steam profile also shows this evidence that they're one and the same. Also operated as CSGOLotto.net (which also redirects to the banned keyselling website).

They also operate CSGODices.com, another CS:GO Gambling website.

I added him to the OP before the article shot up (thanks for the tip again).

My question is did he just now put that he is "sponsored" by them? Since he is a twitch streamer I wonder if he ever did a segment focused on CSGOLotto or did he just play the game normally and gave his own company a shoutout.

He still didn't give full disclosure of his relationship to the company, but I am interested in if he is doing damage control as well right now.
I linked his highlights playlist in the timeline (click "the" between "commence" and "videos"), of which some have betting segments.
  • December 2015: Together with Josh Beaver (JoshOG) and some other guy, Trevor Martin (TmarTn) & Thomas Cassell (ProSyndicate) found CSGO Lotto
  • Commence the videos
  • June 27th: HonorTheCall reveals their ties.
  • June 27th: TmarTn2 uploads his panic rant (Mirror)
  • June 30th: HonorTheCall refutes his BS
  • Juli 3rd: h3h3 cover it
  • July 4th: Tmartn does have a lawyer after all, deletes his videos
  • July 4th: Steam browser puts a disclaimer up on the lottery site.
  • July 4th: Reported to the Federal Trade Commission.
  • July 4th: Martin disables comments on his videos.

Here's a taste: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-EGcxQs1bM&list=PL5lUnXqVIQw6H_TS9o5ir-l9rvErAZ9hA&index=11&t=9m48s

The Overwatch way is also how the Injustice 2 Gear unlocks will work IIRC.

I was thinking that but you could just compare it to buying packs of MTG cards.

I remember watching one of TmarTn betting videos a while back and he forgot to edit out a part of the video where he was still logged into one of the 'bot' accounts that gamblers are suppose to give their skins to. The video is still up since Jan 15 and he probably doesn't even know yet. Just think, what do you think he was doing logged into the account?

Link: https://youtu.be/-ZC2AURoIp4?t=6m48s (edit: original video was made private)

YouTube: https://youtu.be/kC1tH7f441c?t=6m48s

Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-cBI_PNbKxTWDVGWEhhYnNfcms/edit?pref=2&pli=1

Screenshot of the video's info box before it was made private: http://i.imgur.com/euNZl7S.png

The video is about him and his friend (YouTubeBrock) betting on the site and his friend kept losing. I don't think he even told Brock that he was the actual owner of the site because throughout the video his countdown timer had some sort of delay and he says to Brock, "Dude, I think cuz I'm an admin on this site, like they modded me, I think it messes up my timers... cuz my timers are like different than everybody elses. It's weird."

LMAO of course he did

Sorry but what am I looking for here?

The whole issue is that he has misled people by pretending to have discovered a gambling site.

He is trying to entice his followers to try the site, by showing how much he has been winning. I mean if he can win, then they can right?!

So he posts screenshots (and videos) showing how much he has been winning on a site he's apparrently discovered....But the reality is that it is his own site, he's also been captured logged in as a csgolotto bot during a stream, he's then seen logging out and then logging in as TmarTn.

At the point that the images, and videos were posted he had denied any involvement with the site. To clarify once again, he claimed he had "FOUND" the site.

It is crystal clear that any comments, screenshots, and videos showing him and his apparent winnings were false and a way to mislead his young impressionable audience to go the site and spend their money.

Imagine a casino owner posting videos and screenshots of his apparent slot machine winnings.....

To be clear this is the same person that is paid by Activision to post postiive impressions on early call of duty gameplay, yet tries to pass it off as his own opinion.

The main thing is that he has since tried to say that he has always made no secret of the fact that he owned the site, yet this is clearly false, both by his videos when he states he "found" the site, (when he meant "founded" lol.) and the countless instagram posts etc

"I've admitted to wishing I was more upfront about owning the site," he said in a post yesterday that has since been deleted. "It was always public info but I was never very outspoken about it. My idea was to keep business business, while the focus of YouTube was simply making entertaining content. Obviously that was misleading to viewers and something I very much regret. I've never been perfect and I 100% own up to that mistake.

"That being said, everything we've done up until this point has been legal, that has been a #1 priority of ours," he added. "The day it becomes illegal is the day we cease activity."

Fucking lol.

I really hope Google/Facebook/Twitter/Amazon/Valve archive all this stuff for a bit after it gets deleted by a user so that the authorities can get the original files as evidence.

People are going to jail for this. Hopefully, this bad press will cause Valve to change their chest policies, as they are highly deplorable and create an environment for both adults AND minors to gamble.

But hey - maybe a class action lawsuit will come and we'll all get a super sweet butterfly knife skin.
