I didn't want to start a new thread but the 8700k is looking like the gaming cpu to get:

Not too surprising considering it is looking like a slightly better 7700k with two more cores, but that should make it handle games extremely well.

Now just don't be too expensive. Crossing my fingers for 350, bracing for 400.

The 8350k is looking decent too as a budget cpu.

Wow, first real generational bump from Intel in how long now?

Dell's XPS 13 and Inspiron 7000's are getting updated September 12th and October 3rd:

The popular Dell XPS 13 is getting a small refresh—you won't notice anything different about the laptop as the new hardware is inside the chassis. The clamshell version of the XPS 13 will get Intel's 8th generation CPU, known as Coffee Lake, and it'll be a quad-core chip rather than a dual-core chip.

The XPS 13 isn't the only device to get the 8th-gen CPU update: Dell is adding it to its Inspiron 7000 line of convertibles and clamshells, too.

The new Dell XPS 13 will be available on September 12 starting at $799. The new Inspiron 7000 clamshells and two-in-ones will be available on October 3 starting at $799.

Double the cores, exact same starting price for the XPS.

Nice. I've been looking at a new laptop for a relative and waiting on the Dell XPS 13 refresh with 8th gen intel cpu. They have a 10% sale going right now but I'm guessing they'll do it again around the holiday season.

The Dell 7000 line uses the H series mobile CPUs...that's interesting to read about an October 3 upgrade. Wonder of that means we will see an 8700HQ with 6 cores replace the 7700HQ in October.

Wow, first real generational bump from Intel in how long now?

8 years or so? CPUs are finally starting to get a little more exciting again. Looking forward to seeing how much improvement per core AMD can reach with Ryzen gen 2.

It is believed that on October 5th the distribution of Intel’s 8th Gen series will begin. We actually heard about the same date but as a retail launch. Regardless if this means retail availability or not, it appears that Intel’s new desktop series will launch early October.
