Net Revenues from GTA products exceeded $700 million over the past 12 months

That is good set of money .
Still SP people don't have anything to worry about .
They not going to mess with stuff when the game sell so much .

Which is kinda crazy to me. The missions are the actual worth while part of GTAV.

Messing about in the open world gets boring after five minutes. Especially when the cops are so infuriating to deal with.

Bullshit. I probably have close to 500 hours across 3 platforms and it's STILL not old to me.

Messing around with the world and the pedestrians is hugely rewarding, granted of course you have a single iota of creativity and I'm going to go ahead and assume you don't because you think the only "worth while" part of GTA5 is the part where you mindlessly follow waypoints and are unable to do absolutely anything that the game doesn't explicitly tell you to.

I loved GTA5's story don't get me wrong, but it's absolutely NOT the reason I still play the game. Los Santos as a living breathing digital city has yet to be topped by any game, and it's ped AI is so much fun to manipulate.

Seriously some of the most fun I've had is NOT by going on rampages, but by manipulating the systems of the game. Case in point...go to grove street in broad daylight and dial 911 to call the cops and watch as a full blown war breaks out between the Ballas and the LSPD. Or if you have a wanted level, sneak into ammunition and watch in glee as the clerk behind the counter pulls a shotgun out and starts attacking the cops, which gives you a window to escape while the cops are occupied.

Give people on the highway the middle finger to occasionally piss one off enough so that they want to have an insane fist fight in the middle of 6 lane highway traffic. Insult people on the pier until they are hostile and then bait them into starting fights with other peds and then sit back and enjoy the carnage.

Just because the open world isn't littered with ubisoft tier minigames at every street corner doesn't mean there isn't a huge wealth of gameplay options presented to you, you just have to look for it.

Now with a fully modded version of GTA5 the wealth of options are even greater, every single time I boot it up I find myself doing something I've never done before, from being a gang member fighting for turf to being a police officer on patrol and arresting criminals, to becoming Iron Man and flying around swatting helicopters with my fists, to the watch dogs mod where you can hack everything in the game, making for a more rewarding experience than even the actual watch dogs game could muster. I'll never get tired of remote controlling a pedestrian car to run over civilians and watch in glee as the police officers show up to arrest this poor old lady who's guilty of some severe vehicular manslaughter, or to explode the phone of any witnesses who saw me do it!

Though wonder if they finally running out of ideas for dlc for online. Biker Dlc is same premise as Ceo Dlc. Kinda disappointing.

Who in gods name is still playing, and spending money on, GTA online!?

People underestimate just how huge GTA is. It's basically the biggest game in the world besides mine craft and LOL. it's been consistently selling well since launch 3 years ago and hasn't slowed down.

Really hope they don't abandon single player content because of this.

If you read the stories about the GTA5 lawsuit, it seems like Benzies was basically the driving force for GTAO because the Housers want to make their stories and they leave the heavy lifting to other people.

And since the Housers are in charge, I don't think there's any way in hell that they try to move to a purely online experience although I guess they could make the singleplayer always online.

Terrifying performance from GTA5. Good lord.

Reminds me of that Scrooge McDuck gif of throwing the peasant some change. Please, R*! Just give us something as you walk on by!

*R* throws out a RDR port and RDR3 in a disgusted manner*

:')

Good to hear. I'll keep buying @ $60 lol

Give me RDR 3 with the same content and longevity. As a fan of westerns, I'll buy it day 1.

GTA Online is actually pretty fun. It's all about having people to play with. The CEO missions are really fun with a couple friends. Add in stunt racing, heists, the recent bikers stuff, there is a ton of fun to be had in GTA Online. I wrote it off a couple years ago, but I was enticed by the stunt races and got sucked into it. A ton of people still play it, even on PC.

My 1080 gives me 60fps on ultra and it's pretty glorious.

After trying to find something to stress test my new CPU/RAM, I ended up installing GTA V and now it runs pretty well, locked 60 without the advanced settings menu or MSAA 8x, I can live with that. Played for a while to reminisce the old days and suddenly got hooked all over again, bought my office, then my warehouse and today got my bike club. The grind is terrible but I love the gameplay, kinda like MGSV.

I love racing so I usually end up grrinding to buy the best current cars for each class and just go have some fun online.

Sorry to speak like an elitist jerk but it looks like you're very easy to entertain. 500 hours? Really?

Red Dead Online confirmed.

It being in the wild west really kind of narrows the scope of online expansions, doesn't it?

Half of the things in Grand Theft Auto Online don't seem like they'd even make a good counterpart for a Western.

How do they sell Shark Cards? ;)

You're just not thinking hard enough.

- Buy your own bar, with musicians and etc.

- Buy your own casino, with blackjack, poker and all that.

- Buy your own fortress to create and keep your own gang, try to dominate the wild west with your buddies.

- Buy your own ranch, to breed your own horses and plant food for temporary buffs or drugs to sell.

More power to you, but none of this sounds entertaining for more thana few minutes.

If I want to watch funny GTAV glitches, which is maybe zero percent of the time, I'd go to YouTube.

I'll take Ubisoft-esque side-content any day of the week.

Those examples weren't glitches.

There's no data on consoles, but GTA V is still consistently staying at the top 6 of Steam most played games with 60k~ peak players daily, so..

No actually player numbers, but Xbox has games ranked by most players (GTA V currently at #4 behind Blops 3, Destiny, and NBA 2K17).

A shame since I have zero interest in gta online. We're never getting new single player episodes or content.

Wouldn't shock me if gta never had a single player campaign again. All that money spent for a feature that is played no where as much as the online.

GTA online just feels janky as hell, at least the lobby system or whatever the hell it is.

If it goes only online I'll probably bail. I can't imagine trying to do heists with PUGS, and keeping your sanity or a healthy blood pressure. See also: the left4dead games

Not enough to buy a Benz tho
It's funny because it's true.

It's ironic that they fired the guy who championed GTAO (which turned out to be hugely successful). You have to wonder how Rockstar can do it so much better than everyone else in such a highly competitive industry... and how much of it comes down to people like the Benz :(

If people like to play GTA Online good for them they should get new content and continue to enjoy. But R* should throw a bone to people who play Singleplayer only too. One SP DLC in 3 years is not too m to ask for in my opinion.

crazy, they've had a title released every year between 2001-2013. 2015 brought the next-gen release of GTAV, which was clearly a lot of work, but they haven't released a new title in 3+ years. I know they've had regular updates for GTA Online, but that requires a small fraction of the team that built GTAV from scratch, so what is 90% of R* North working on? what are they waiting for? its really odd.

It takes a shitload of time to blow that much money on hookers and blow.

I played GTAO for like 30 minutes and never went back. Just seemed boring and i got sick of muting random loud mouthed people.

Across 3 years and 3 platforms yeah? You don't have a game that you like so much that you pick up and play from time to time? GTA is like my comfort food game, and it's not very easy to entertain me, there's just no other games that offer the same kind of variety that GTA5 does, it's a lot more than just mindless murder and mayhem if you want it to be, and that's what I really like about it.

Someone easy to entertain to me is someone who is fully satisfied with a reskinned call of duty every single year and spends night after night repeating the same gameplay loop ad nausieum. I've made cool little grindhouse shlock movies in GTA5 with the editor, I've spent countless hours online playing with friends online, I've played the campaign twice and I've screwed around in it's open world so much I could write a novel about the crazy shit I've seen happen in it's dynamic world.

It might not even be as high as 500, I just know I have 260 on steam alone and I'm assuming the 360 and Xbone combined could be in the same ballpark, but I'm not entirely sure, I just know I've played on PC far more than the other two.

It's not all my time either, lot of weekends with friends passing the controller back and forth, and then on the PC version there's a 2 player mod where two players can play at the same time on the same screen like in san andreas, we've spent probably 100 hours doing that alone over the past year, add some beers and you have yourself a great nostalgic couch gaming time.

To me it's just the game that keeps giving, i can see how someone else might think 500 hours of vanilla GTA5 might seem totally ridiculous but I don't think they would know the extreme extent to which GTA5 has been changed by it's modding scene. Most of peoples complaints about the game have been addressed in one way or another, meaning when you get the right mods paired up with one another you have a nearly perfect game that never truly gets old.

Gta was my favourite game series and i was super hyped for V. Played through it twice in the first week after launch. I played GTA online for about 50 hours but have no desire to return to it. Not interested in grinding or paying real money. I just want single player content but i gave up hope of that long ago. gta online is going no where and i'm worried what the future holds for not only GTA but other rockstar games especially Red Dead. I had GTA V pre ordered as soon as it was listed but whatever game they put out next I will hold off for a sale or buy used.
