Is it forza/xbone outputting 4k or is it your 4k TV's scaler?
The xbox one s will output at 4k, but it's using the console's built-in scaler, it isn't rendering games at 4k.

Well, it still can be patched. Frame rate is locked 30 most of the time, from what I can tell. I'm not really sensitive to frame rate slightly lower than 30 fps and it's nowhere near the level of fallout. But sprinting through dense forests, very foggy areas with lots of alpha effects does feel like a 2-3 fps drop to me. This is entirely subjective of course.
I only noticed it, because I was playing Skyrim for the last few days and switching to the Pro introduced those performance issues.
You can not download the latest patch but other than that it will always run in "Pro mode". I think the extra eye candy is still worth it.
Shouldn't all newly released games (eg all PSVR titles) have PS4 Pro modes already? Didn't PS4 Pro support become mandatory in October?
I'm playing it on a 1080p monitor, yes.Sorry if this has been asked but did you try Skyrim on a PS4 Pro at on a 1080p tv?
I want more PS VR details.
Really!? HDR on First Light just on my standard PS4 is jaw-dropping on my C6 OLED and comparing to HDR switched off is night and day. Perhaps they need a better TV to test their games on.

The graphics could be worse than the base ps4 as long as it's whisper quiet. Noise is the #1 problem with electronics. I'd take ps2 level graphics for a silent system.

I would say just buy a ps2 but if memory serves, the ps2 disk drive was constantly making noise. The graphics could be worse than the base ps4 as long as it's whisper quiet. Noise is the #1 problem with electronics. I'd take ps2 level graphics for a silent system.

One of the main features of the Pro to me is the 1080p 60fps remote play!
Which no one has said anything about oddly.
That would require someone owning a Vita.

Have you considered getting a Vita?

http://www.rebellion.co.uk/blog/2016/10/27/patch-1-02-out-nowAdded PS4 Pro support
- Increased super-sampling resolution
- Improved dynamic lighting in the Cobra cockpit
- Increased reflective lighting resolution
-InFamous titles scale up to 1800p
-The inFamous ports from Sucker Punch offer this functionality, and initial tests with First Light show the game running much more smoothly - the first stage showing a 50-60fps turnout.
FULL DETAILS- And if you dont have a 4K TV, youll still see a smoother image as the PS4 Pro will scale down to match your 1080p display.
For starters, for players who still possess standard 1080p HDTVs, were able to offer far better image quality. Weve got a number of techniques at our disposal. The most logical one is supersampling. This is a very high-quality anti-aliasing technique, which basically means we internally render at a higher resolution (close to 4K) before shrinking it down to the final 1080p resolution. As our internal calculations are done at a resolution much higher than 1080p, more detail survives before we shrink it down to 1080p, resulting in smoother edges virtually no jaggies and a more stable image.
Similarly, those of you who have PS VR hooked up to your PS4 Pro might notice Area X looking a little different than youre used tothats because the image being passed along to each of your eyes is being rendered at a higher resolution (1920 x 1080, instead of 1440 x 810 on a standard PS4), before being passed to the PS VR headset.
These high-res textures will be used whether the player is playing on a 4K TV or a standard 1080p display. In addition to the ultra textures, the extra memory allowed us to increase our dynamic shadow resolution. Killing Floor 2s custom deferred renderer uses a number of shadowing techniques including dynamic shadows. When these dynamic shadows are used they will be crisper and higher resolution on PS4 Pro then the standard PS4. When playing on a 1080p TV, Killing Floor 2 is effectively super sampled, resulting in much higher quality and smoother anti-aliasing.

Benefits for 1080p owners
-PS4 Pro users with a 1080p TV will see a big increase in gameplay image quality as well. The technique were using to get to those better resolutions is something were calling Temporal Injection. This allows us to not only hit a much higher resolution, but also to do it with jaggie-eliminating anti-aliasing as well. The extra resolution and HDRs ability to display even more of the colorful Solana Galaxy should combine for the best image quality youve ever seen in a Ratchet & Clank game.

If this goes well then definitelyGoing forward, will there be a PS5 Pro and so on?

Yeah I could definitely see that and I'm hoping too. SONY usually does great job at setting the tone for the generation and I don't think BC can be neglected any further.Honestly, I think it will be a straight up PS5 that allows for BC with PS4 games but essentially sets up a minimum specs for a new generation of games. I'm just hoping by then that it will at least be an 8 or 9 TFLOPS for the PS5.
So being team 1080p TV. If the game at the very least has a 4k pro enabled patch, is there anything I have to do? Like settings and what not?
And everything would automatically be supersampled from 4k down to 1080p?
Honestly, we really need a PS4 Pro thread dedicated entirely to 1080p TV owners.
Including
- General perks that every game will include
- Game-specific benefits and patches
- All in one convenient OP
I'd read that thread!

If true, I wonder how many people won't jump on right away and opt for the mid generation version knowing the first couple of years is the slow period of releases which in turn would slow platform adoption rate? I think if they want to do this moving forward, they need to offer both versions at launch rather than updating in there middle of the generation. That would be the true choice.Going forward, will there be a PS5 Pro and so on?
Isn't that meaningless? How many SKUs does the Xbox One have? And how would it compare if you added all those up together?PS4 Pro is currently ranked better on Amazon monthly sales listing than any Xbox One SKU.
