PlayStation 4 receives official £50 price drop in the UK this October

Meanwhile outside of GAME the PS4 has been effectively £299 or below for months anyway. Good for those who haven't heard of HotUKDeals however and any PR is good PR.

Waiting for the first console to hit £200 though if I'm honest. My PC and Wii U can tide me over until then.

Yes, before you say it, I'm a hypocrite for spending £360 on a GTX 780 but going cheap on a new console!

How about £249 with a bundled game for that perceived value? I think you'd get uncharted collection bundled into a ton of PS4s this winter, and a £249 ideal with uncharted would be good value.

Surprised they felt they needed to, but good news all the same.

Betting we'll be seeing sub-250 quid bundle deals in retailers in time for Uncharted 4. Thing's gonna sell like crazy.

Keep these price drops coming for all systems. The more systems we get into consumers hands the more games we will get.

Great bundles + global 50$/€ price drop will help a lot this holiday season.
It only makes sense considering the lowered manufacturing costs.

This looks like a bundle pricedrop, not a general permanent pricedrop for all console models that are on sale in the UK.

But still.... great deal for UK gamers and a possible sign that a permanent worldwide pricedrop is upon us. I kinda think everything remain the same, except some limited deals in the US during the height of holiday season.

This price cut means retailers will be able to go even lower now, so instead of £289 it could be £239 or lower.

I wanted a bigger price cut and I also wanted a bigger redesign for this ps4 model (including controller build etc...)

I want a PS4 2
Maybe they'll wait till the release of PSVR to drop the price another £50

Perfectly able to grasp the inherent value of the fishing game.

As long as they pass the savings on to the wholesale market, sure. If so, great, if they're just telling retailers what the ceiling price is, not so good.

Either way, Xmas is here soon and a near £200 console would hopefully be low enough to get a nice present from my other half, heh.

A price drop and a good black friday bundle and I'll be all set for my second PS4. I'm glad i cancelled the Destiny TKK bundle.

One would think this is to start gaining momentum because halo 5 drops next month and that's gonna take a huge amount of attention away from Sony, retail and press wise

If they price cut in the US, then I might be able to grab a PS4 with two games for $300 at Black Friday. Fingers crossed.

How bad is Canada economy atm?

Low oil has killed capital investment and our manufacturing sector looks more like a rust belt by the day. And the leaders we have to choose from in the coming election do not inspire confidence: crook/shnook vs angry Quebec socialist vs dopey drama teacher.

wow
I didn't see this coming.
I was guessing it would only be for Japan, since Japans consoles sales are struggling.

I can already hear people saying "I told you so" to me.

French PS4 supply is still on high demand, I doubt they will follow anytime soon.

Demand isnt the problem here, sony wants to sell as many Ps4´s as possible so with this price cut, agressive bundles, agressive marketing and amazing exclusives it will sure have a insane 2015 and 2016.

This Console will break some records this holidays, not Wii Level but it will be insane and Xbox One should do HUGE numbers aswell at least in Americas and Europe/Asia excluding Japan.

Great time for Consoles owners, Studios are investing on Consoles ALOT, TGS was crazy on PS4 games, PGW will be crazy and PSX will be freaking extreme!

We only need Nintendo back in the game, seriously NX needs to be awesome.

What is the Xbox One price then. I can't tell, there is so many prices and bundles. It was 349 after removing Kinect.

Microsoft are probably dreading this. Same old console, more expensive to make, bundling, undercutting for ages and starting to do better, sucker punch.

Officially its £299 with bundles being £309, although places are selling it for £299 with more than one game anyway

Although the official price drop is to £299, bundles have been offering the PS4 for around £220-240 (the individual PS4 without the additional games and controllers). Hopefully this should push down prices even further.

All this means is retailers will lower the price further. Retailers getting cutthroat out there. Sony making money, third parties making money, industry making money. Make it Rain.

The PS4 is going to do very well. While Xbox might be hanging on in the UK, just, and has the odd exclusive to attract people, the PS4 is showing that it's the place where all the multi-plats will run best and where you can get some of the best exclusives in the business and access to a wide range of inexpensive indie titles. PS+, needed for online play, gives you a ton of free games, and you have access to VR being a reality next year if you own the console.

The Xbox has little if anything to battle this. Halo has lost a lot of it's gravitas and most will happily wait for Tomb Raider 2, if they're bothered at all. It's a great compact console with everything going for it and it can only keep snowballing. We're finally seeing traditional Japanese game devs start to warm up again and over the generation it should feel a little bit like the golden era of PS2 all over again. There's a ludicrous amount of highly promising games coming and for those that dismiss the PS4 library up until now, seriously, you're blind and a bit dumb should you be pedalling that line even now.

Cannot wait to see how huge a success the PS4 will go on to be over the next half decade. Pretty damn huge I predict. We have a console for the world, with devs from the world making content for it. Sadly the Xbox always put me off with how it was a non starter in Japan and the subsequent way this affected Japanese devs getting on with making top quality console games. Now we're back in business. Oh and Shenmue 3!
