We also recently heard some rumors of an announcement happening in mid-April of an NX related event in late April. That could perhaps be in form of a Nintendo Direct broadcast where The Legend of Zelda will also be covered?

So what you're saying is they need to carve out a very specific kind of role for the player character in order to make a female player character fit?

What you're saying is their everyman avatar character who they state is envisioned as a stand-in for the player isn't the best way to implement a character that can be representative of the player, regardless of his or her gender?
Link being male plays off differently than if he was female. Interactions change.
I guess it's fine and I'd probably play as FemLink but changes would need to be made

But... why? It's definitely fake, I refuse to believe Nintendo would be this stupid. Aonuma has clearly said Link isn't female in Zelda U.

I'm all for a Zelda game without Link, I'd like to play as Zelda for a change, Impa as well, or maybe Sheik during the 7-year interval of OOT (has been my wet dream for a while now), but why the constant obsession trying to make Link female? He's not a "link between game and player" any more, he's a fully fleshed character... for Nintendo standards.

I thought Emily Rogers was done after that Mother 3 leak? Her Twitter, Dromble, and another blog of hers all disappeared.

She reappeared as ArcadeGirl64. Though she said she just made the Twitter to indicate that faker accounts were fake she started Tweeting again anyways I guess.

a direct incoming?

sounds very plausible... specially since they have been pretty silent recently, expected although

If Link is a female in this, imagine the people who would call Nintendo sexist if they stuck with Male TP Link in Smash 5.

I'm cool with Female Link in Zelda U/NX, by the way.

Still not realistically expecting anything before E3. Anything before would be a pleasant surprise but I will not be let down if we don't get anything.

How many fucking times has Emily Rogers quit/disappeared/whatever only to resurface a couple months later? This shit's getting old.

What is your problem? Why so upset?

Except he's about 8-12 different fully fleshed out characters.

This one's female.

It's not that complicated.

If theres a female Link, it will probably be choice based, no way they scrap the male Link model

Will totally choose to play as a girl if the rumors are true

I expect them to say something before or at the investor meeting.

Maybe a Female/Male toggle is this game's Light World/Dark World mechanic. Link can chance gender at will.

I mean, it's entirely possible aonuma changed his mind or added an option during the time since then

No, they are saying the Zelda series is full of interesting, established female characters that they would prefer to see in a staring role instead of a female Link. Stop shoe horning in a narrative that isn't there.

Gender toggle would make the most sense and honestly would be a great move imo.

Link's gender has never been central to his character so I never understood the insistence that he should be male outside of people whining that they don't want something they like to change.

So, what now? News soon, or the rumors popping up this week? I'd guess leaks would mean a Direct this month.

No, what i say is my opinion. And no, not every silent protagonist with a slight androgynous touch needs to be a girl, or the option of being female.

Also, that stand-in for the player has become obsolete since the 3D Zeldas, where the character of Link has been fleshed out more, with even in Hyrule Historia written that the chosen ones are male for the incarnations of the Hero of Courage and Demise, and female for the incarnation of the goddess.

And this is the last thing i write about that.

Yes!! Finally. There was the rumor that an NX event would be announced next week. Oh man I hope it's all true. Emily Rodgers called the Paper Mario for Wii U.

She gets my belief! I want to see Zelda please.

They aren't going to show anything new about Zelda if it's coming out for NX as well. Don't anticipate seeing it again until the NX reveal.

The Legend of Zeldo.

But the one that's marketed the most would be the default & would get an Amiibo. And given Robin & Corrin, the odds would be in Male Link's favor.

I don't know where you're going with this. You didn't mention Amiibos in your original post.

Interactions only "change" if there were gender-fixed ones to begin with.

We don't know if that'd be the case for a hypothetical new game.

And, honestly, aside from the rare case where Link's gender is actually referenced directly - and this is usually just as a general address...

You are such a well-mannered boy!
Here you go!

Hey there, boy! Did you happen to see the
postbox down near the docks?

By the way, boy... When you drew that
sword of yours out of its resting place...

Twilight Princess said:
That's a good boy! Now, you need
to listen to what I say from now on!

You bought the slingshot, I see.
Thanks, m'boy.

I'm reluctant to return after coming
this far, but perhaps we should go
back and reevaluate things. Don't
you think, old boy?

Looks like we've got one young
swordsman left!
And not only that, but it looks like
this brave young man will escort us,
so get ready to go, honey. Pronto!

...even stuff like references to marriage and romantic crushes doesn't have to be gender-specific. Those things could still exist if Link were female.

No, they are saying the Zelda series is full of interesting, established female characters that they would prefer to see in a staring role instead of a female Link. Stop shoe horning in a narrative that isn't there.

That's always the subtext, though, given that the main protagonist if the series is Link.

Saying "if there's going to be a female player-character, it should be ______ who has been a secondary character until now" isn't a statement that exists in a vacuum, even if it's these people's legitimate preference.

Which we may get before E3 (to avoid potentially getting overshadowed by Sony).

So we could be getting a Nintendo Direct streak of 3 months?! : O

April - Nintendo Direct - The Legend of Zelda Wii U and NX Reveal Date

April-May - NX Direct +Investors Meeting

June - Nintendo E3 2016

Sounds like a Nintendo Christmas :D!

Why do you care what she does with her Twitter account as long as you're getting news?

I don't care about her account or whatever, I just don't get the constant mugging for attention from a select cadre of Nintendo gossipers. I mean, I get why they do it but I don't get why people continue to entertain them.

Shocking Alberto's twitter points to one of the rumor being about gender.

And he's legit.

Yeah well the fake controller "leak" showed how little we should trust him. He may have gotten shit right before but he got the controller wrong as did a couple other "legit" people.

Also, rumors are coming now from Emily.
