The December 2017 window was set before the KS launched. They had no way of knowing it would even reach its initial goal, let alone exceed it in record-breaking fashion. They should never have announced 2017 in the first place.
How confident are you in your ship date?
A rigorous budget and schedule has been worked out with our production team and we believe our target of 2017 holiday season is within reach. That said, our goal is to make the best game possible (and one that the fans want!) so please understand the schedule may change as the project evolves. Frequent updates will be posted on the Update page.
How did I know it was you 😂so it was shown at Sonys E3 conference at E3 2015... talking about "early announcement"...
"A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad."
-Yu Suzuki
Delays or releasing on time won't change the fact if a game is shit. Lord I hate that quote.
Not going to happen, unfortunately.I haven't played Shenmue before, so forgive my ignorance, but how feasible would it be for SEGA to do a Kiwami style re-release of Shenmue 1 and 2?(waiting for the HD remasters like you guys!)
I mean in terms of reusing the old assets from Yakuza Kiwami. Are these games similar enough for them to be able to reuse a good chunk of those assets in Shenmue 1 & 2 remake, or would they still need to built a lot of new assets for those games from ground up?
Because we're on a video games forum on the internet. Why is everyone so cynical
Why is everyone so cynical about this game releasing in a reasonable window (or ever), because it's a Kickstarter?
Yu Suzuki has decades in the industry and numerous AAA games under his belt. And it's not like this title has been in development hell, it was simply never green lit.
I could understand being hesitant about whether they can put lightning back in the bottle 15 years later, but that's another argument entirely.
what is the chance that this game will be ultimately disappointing
There is... a sense of irony seeing these two statements in the same post.I can only imagine that it's because they hate seeing game developers succeed or something
I've waited for 16 years, so whatever. At this point, I just want it to be good.
Based on what? This game is never coming out.
I'm praying they tie it up. I fear they won't.Spoiler:
Shenmue 3 won't end the series.

Don't want to have to go through this again.
God damn it . Stuff like this is why I'm not paying attention to the development til we get a date. Don't want to tear my hair out. They have already said that it won't, and that a Shenmue 4 is needed to finish the story.

The fanbase isn't a monolith and it'll be impossible to please everybody, but the game has a lot going for it in terms of talent and approach.Yeah that didn't escape me when i posted it
But my post is more about expectations of the fans of Shenmue, not so much me expecting the game to actually be bad
Something tells me that no matter how good the game is, its legacy will work against it
If you want a more optimistic spin on III not ending the story; at least it's not rushing it to a forced conclusion either. It is still going to be the vision fans fell in love with when they played the originals in that respect.God damn it . Hypothetical
Would you pay $150 for a version of Shenmue 3 that came with HD remasters of Shenmue 1 and 2, knowing there is no other way to get copies of the first two games in HD?
