What made me wonder is that he's the only named person playing. The other guys are just Player 1 and so on unlike other recent footage I've watched that everyone had names.
And also how they jump from a tutorial, straight into a match.

Yup. Ranking after the match shows only one named player
The tutorial straight into match is how the demos since E3 have worked, I believe. It allows everyone to learn the controls and then go into the match.
As for the name, it could be that the console they were playing on was a special exception for naming.

Everyday I believe more and more that Splatoon is going to be something big for Nintendo. It has everything to be the next trendy thing this summer just like Mario Kart 8 was last year (and wich rocketed even more thanks to the Luigi Death Stare meme)I'm glad they are pushing it on every opportunity they can. I just hope NoA begins doing the same cuz we have not seen ads, or big events for Splatoon like the one on Japan and I reallyyyyyyyyy don't want Splatoon to bomb. It looks insanely fun with top notch Nintendo gameplay that it would be pretty unfortunate to see it sell low... 1 month and 3 days to go!

I think them supporting the game after it releases bodes very well for its popularity.
I also think it's going to be the "hip" game to get for Miiverse folks.
I cringe at that term often but if it helps it sell, then more power to it.

If you find yourself under heavy Octosniper fire, find some cover and then try to advance your position by swimming in your own ink. Im not sure if Im a bad enough dude to take these guys down, but I bet some of you folks out there will master the art!

Splatoon bundle report! Omg, you guys. Splatoon is getting a Wii U bundle! And it looks like this sweet baby will only be available at Best Buy and BestBuy.com. I guess I know where Im stopping on the way home from the lab on May 29th! Booyah! I can pick up some new CDs for my car, too. And some new rechargeable batteries for the squidtrifuge! In addition to the Wii U system and Splatoon, looks like it also comes with Nintendo Land, all for just $299.99! Inkredible! Somebody pinch me! (Except you, giant crab locked up in our research cage. Let me post it here completely.
Splatoon ART CONTEST report! So turns out our senior squid artist quit like two months ago and didnt tell anyone. And now we need a bunch of sketches ASAP for our quarterly report, but when I checked his old desk drawers, all I found was a snorkel and a bunch of those little red sticks that come with the cheese-and-cracker packs that you use to spread the cheese. Remember those things? Anyway, I was in a full-blown panic until I thought of you guys! I bet some of you can draw some cool Splatoon art. Squid Research Lab needs your help!
Heres what Im thinking: Post your awesomest, most squidtastic Splatoon-themed artwork on Tumblr and tag it with #Splatoon, #GetInked and #NintendoContestEntry so we can find it. Well even give out some cool prizes for the ones we like best! The report is due on May 29, so youve got until then to show us what youve got. Yall are the best! Oh, and the contest starts RIGHT NOW!
