Local 1v1 with one player using the pad and the other using the TV. It's a different mode called the Battle Dojo where the goal is to pop balloons for points, all while powerups scattered across the field can be collected. No word on whether you can bring local play online like in Smash/MK though.

No this is not true! You can play with the right stick. But the gyro controls feel great anyway. I played the E3 demo at gamescom. I used the right stick only for big turns.
Splatoon was easily the most fun game at gamescom imo

It uses both gyro and the right stick.

Nothing surprising, but for completion's sake:

ZL - Squid (dive into ink, restores ink)
L-stick - move

R-button - Bomb (uses 70% of your ink)
ZR - Ink Shot (uses up ink)
R-stick - look
X - Jump
Y - Camera Reset

Touch the Squid Icon to make a big jump to one of your team mates.

Use gyro to aim.

Lets hope Splatoon does pretty well.
Who knows. Maybe if Splatoon, one of their newer games actually does decently well and shows new games CAN sell. They might give TW101 another chance.

It all sounded really plausible to me (which makes me skeptical, since that means I could have written the list myself) until the Nintendo reference stuff started happening. Super Mario Sunshine content COULD happen, but I get the feeling fans care more about it than Nintendo does, considering how often fans are comparing the game to Sunshine but I've yet to see anything by Nintendo make that connection (another red flag). More importantly, I have a hard time believing that Kirby is going to have a DLC stage. I'm not sure what it would even look like, what it would be based off of, or why Nintendo would choose that franchise.

I guess Canvas Curse would be the most appropriate connection? I don't know...I'll be happy if all of that is true though! Nintendo leaks are super rare however, and considering how many Directs have "leaked" before, I don't buy it. I'm going with fake.

Yes, that was troll rumors, although it probably has some fairly accurate things as well. The 2D arcade game has pretty much been confirmed already by the arcade game appearing in the plaza.

Regarding the Sunshine Elements:

Fake or not, is understandable how people make the connection to Sunshine. Levels is the least that people could ask for. It would be hilarious or at least interesting to have a 3rd element affecting the balance of an ink match if that element is equipped with Flaud from Sunshine erasing the paint of any of the 2 teams. At the least that idea most have crossed the minds in development XD

It's just rare for a new Nintendo IP to have such strong promotion - can't think of the last new thing that got this much attention. Wonderful 101 was basically abandoned, STEAM got an early push but faded as reception cooled... most of their other first party stuff is eshop-tier releases.

My guess is that it was decided after E3, because of the reception the game and the demo got.

Hope Nintendo doesn't go crazy with adding lot's Mario stuff related on Splatoon. Even if Mario is my favorite gaming character I want Splatoon to be as unique and new as possible. Splatoon needs to be "the children that could". A game that achieved great success without the need to embed recognized characters in it in order to sell. y'know.
