Anyone else play Specialist and stand at the back with your binoculars and see how many assist points you get doing nothing? I had a sandwich and still racked up loads of points just scanning through walls.

Yup, they really rack up when you light up targets for a hero. On ps4 pro binos will bug and show yellow blocks when viewing.

As an aside, parts of Frostbite is showing it’s age. Cards , weapons etc. suffer from the same glitches as games past. They forget they’ve been acquired as continue to show up as new several times.

I could not tell if that was just a cooldown thing or something to stop you scanning 360o. Was weird but funny to get points for nothing.

How do we think the PC player base will be this time around? I just built a new PC and would love to get this there, but I don't want to struggle to find matches :(

I think the free DLC is gonna help retain a lot more players this time around. On PC you can still find matches for Walker Assault and the Death Star DLC. Sometimes even in the Outer Rim DLC.

I'm in NA tho, not sure if the servers are separated by region, maybe it's dead for other continents.

The lag is really a problem, coupled with unstable performance can lead to a lot of frustrations on my end. I Really hope the technical issues will get sorted by launch

Game was DOA on PC? Never had a problem finding matches on PS4, I actually played a bunch last night.

No, it wasn't DOA on PC. And in fact two years on it's still alive, though you won't be able to get EVERY map/mode you want at all times. It did/does have lower population than the console versions though.

I love the game, but the loot box inclusion in its current form (I accept that there's no way EA will ever remove loot boxes completely sadly) makes me horribly conflicted about a purchase.
Hopefully DICE reach out and listen to the concerns.

That's part of the problem as well. Adding those things might not always mean there will be teamwork, but it would still be a part of the game itself. At the moment with Battlefront 2, it feels like it's not even a consideration of the game. They might be few and far between at times in battlefield but they aren't as hard to find as you suggest. In the time i've played Battlefield plenty of people have done those things - they definitely aren't something unexpected when they occur. There is far, far more interaction with other players than Battlefront allows you to have and that makes it feel like more of a cohesive experience.

It being so easy to die and therefore you're better huddled near the other players in Battlefront does not make it a team game. There's a big difference between just not lone-wolfing and actually working together as a team by interacting with other players. All those smaller elements that are missing from the game make it feel too far simple and your actions ultimately something just for yourself. Battlefield and the original Battlefronts had more depth to them because they have those smaller mechanics in place, Battlefront 2 gets the broad gameplay mostly right but misses the mark in a few significant ways because it doesn't think of anything but the short-term.
The only reliable way to enforce player behavior in a game is to make it fun. It's objectively more fun to run around in squads than it is solo in Battlefront 2. That's not the case for Battlefield, where one player can easily wipe a squad if they get the drop on them.

The Batltepoint system adds another layer of depth by providing tangible rewards for behavior the game wants to promote. It provides another way to make team play more fun for the player.

The "if you build it they will come" approach absolutely does not work for team play in a large scale shooter. I would be floored if you get revived more than a 3 times in a random Battlefield 1 server. I would be shocked if someone ever repaired your tank. The in game rewards for those behaviors are minimal.

I finally got to play the Slave 1 last night and oooooohhhhh yes, that bomb was SOOOO good.

I would bait people to follow me around a ship or something, then let the bomb loose as soon as I turned a corner so anyone in pursuit wouldnt have enough time to fly away. My best attempt at this netted 4 kills.

the range on those seismic charges seem pretty big as well...

We won't know the full damage of the boxes until launch. Anything is better than a season pass that divides the community.

Yep. Just got done playing some Battlefield 1 now that the beta is ended. Got killed by a bunch of guns specific to the Tsar expansion. No thanks.

Loot boxes won't bother me because at least everyone will have the opportunity to unlock every gun and have every map and hero. And I think I opened at least 20 loot boxes just during the beta period, so if they are earned at a similar rate in the final version, I'll be happy.

The credits you earn in game can only be used to purchase loot crates, is that correct?

All upgrades are done via scrap, and battle points you earn in-game are used to unlock heroes/ superior units in that game?

I'm happy that I can upgrade star cards with scrap, and use scrap to make mods for weapons etc. IIRC, it's 100-120 scrap to upgrade to level 2, and 480 to upgrade to level 3, rather than having to rely on rng.

The only thing I'm finding difficult to understand about loot crates is that whether you use earnt credits or real money to purchase crates, the rng is still the same isnt it? So, even if I get a level 1 star card, I can keep purchasing loot crates with earnt credits, with the hope of obtaining a higher level card, or in about four days (480 scrap), I'll be able to upgrade it anyway. Is there anything that you can only purchase through real money?

the thing that was confusing to me was the leveling system...so you get 1 primary level and each one of your ships, characters also has their own individual level?...so what's the point of the main level number then?...for example I reached the Level 10 cap for the beta...but my Bomber ship was Level 5...so what's the point of the Level 10?

I really hope they change the way lootboxes work and player progression in general

Yeah, I was not impressed with the beta but the progression system or lack there off makes this a pass for me. It's sad really, why did this game have to be the poster child for everything that is wrong with loot boxes?

Being in Australia, I really hope the PC version has a userbase that sticks to the game.

Battlefield 1 was great when it first launched and you could easily find matches for the Operations mode. But now as far as I can tell that game mode is dead.

That's exactly what I said: the final system hasn't been confirmed. Large details of the current system were available following E3 or the initial reveal (I forget which) though, which point towards a massive advantage for those who are prepared to stump up the cash for creates to recieve gold and legendary tier star cards to get significant in game advantages.

Anything is certainly not better than a season pass. The specifics of the implementation are key here.

This was also super confusing to me. I hope we get some massive clarification on all this nonsense soon. Or just a complete change of the system.

Hope DICE doesn't remain silent for too long. The beta seemed to do a lot of damage. They must be preparing PR to talk about what the intend to change or not?

Any word on a new companion-app/android-game like the base defending stuff the first one had? That was a nice way to earn some extra credits here and there and the minigame was rather fun.

The leveling up and progression felt really weird but I mostly ignored it and kept playing. Having a rank that does nothing (unless it's credits or boxes with each rank) and then having a weird class rank that just seems to work with what cards you have unlocked, is odd to say the least.

Overall, loved the game, looking forward to seeing more Moses and maps but the wait it damn long. At least it will be on the 1X as well! Really want to see some footage soon.

I feel like several of the star cards need to be nerfed. They fucked up a bunch of the percentages. No one should ever be immune to all damage at any point ever.

Doesn't seem too weird to me. It's basically your gear-level.

yeah some of the star cards upgrades are ridiculous...100% damage resistance for Boba Fett when he's using his rockets I think was one of them...a few others also have really high numbers...if this is the case in the final release then the pay to win people will dominate

I don't get the outrage about this particular card upgrade, his rocket barrage is like 2-3 second long and has a fairly significant cool down. Is there something else to it I'm missing? Some of the other cards are in need if a serious Nerf, but I just don't see how this is game breaking.

The pay to win people are so in effect paying for our season passes so we don't have to. If they end up with an item here or there that gives them a small advantage, well, I just can't bring myself to be all up in arms about that.

I really don't get this idea a lot of people have in that "microtransactions allow them to have free DLC!". The previous game was a huge success made by one of the most well-known, highest-rated AAA developers, backed and funded by one of the biggest publishers in gaming. They will almost certainly make far, far more than enough money to be able to keep supporting the game without microtransactions or a season pass. It's a full price game in the first place, the money from game sales alone (and continued game says because of the updates) would be enough to do that. It's not as if the DLC is going to be changed based on how well the microtransactions sell, either, even if they did extremely poorly there would still be those updates and new content.

There isn't any need for microtransactions beyond them wanting to get even more money, all the microtransactions will do is encourage them to dedicate more resources towards more microtransactions. I've not seen anything suggesting that there's free DLC because there are microtransactions; the previous game by DICE, Battlefield One, has both a season pass/paid DLC and microtransactions. The reason they gave for Battlefront 2 having free updates wasn't anything even slightly related to the microtransactions, either.

^ So you want something for nothing essentially. That's your prerogative. But I live in the real world. Of course they "could" give away all that for free. But they don't have to, do they won't.

I wouldn't be so sure about the level of support being exactly the same regardless of how well the microtransactions do. Maybe initially, but not a year down the road.

As for your last claim, I'm gonna need receipts. They replaced the season pass with the loot boxes. Seems pretty straightforward, and I remember a comment about not wanting to split the user base this time around.

Just watched that Digital Foundry video, they seem to like it, both graphically and gameplay-wise (multiplayer).

EA still need to come out with what the final game is going to be like, because saying that the BETA is not like the final game doesn't mean much at all, and by saying "we will make it fun for everyone" well make it like the first game for me then!

As The Know say here, nobody will know until the game is released and that means the pre-order people who get the game a few days early are going to be the fall-guys like what happed to the VIP's of Forza 7, I am still on the fence on this :/
