Finished the story like an hour or so ago. The last levels and such were something else man. Some quite funny wtf moments.
Cool place you end up in as well after the credits.
You finished it already? is it a short game?

Outside 64 and Sunshine Maybe , but a first time wouldn't be badI would genuinely struggle to point to a challenging Mario boss outside of the RPGs.
Very charming and earnest game, cannot help but smile at many offbeat absurdities.
Mechanically though, I think I'm just not into 3D adventure Mario. Hopefully they release more 2D platformers like NSLU.
NSMB U was awesome i can't wait for them to Odyssey the 2D seriesno thank you. I hated NSLU.. fuck the timer in that game, fuck the luigi physics, fuck how short everything was.
How do you do photo mode. If it has to be acquired and is a spoiler just tell me it's a spoiler (I'm at the beginning of the game.
Played finally, had to charge new switch and download game. Its pretty fun, but this feels like its not 1080p.
The other isn't really a big deal, just that sometimes you get the impression that the devs went overboard with the rewards. I love finding moons, and finding new ways to get them, but some of them do feel phoned in a little. But I understand that there needs to be some moons to help players progress if stuck.
How do I open the door in the Steam Gardens in the same area as the Fire Bro?
Yeah, quite a few of these moons are lame. Like, just ground-pound in some random spot that is sparkling for no reason...and moon. Seriously?
Go round the back.
How do I get that moon on top of the pyramid in sand kingdom that's moving underground. Everytime I run to it it moves to the other side.
I felt like a stupid cat trying to catch a mouse with the same tactic each time haha.
If you're just the right distance away, you can throw your hat at it to stop it moving for a little while.
I tried all this! I'll try it again later. Thanks. If you're just the right distance away, you can throw your hat at it to stop it moving for a little while.
Can't find any back entrance.
edit: I found out now. But that's not the way in to that large skyscraper you can fly to the top of? How do you get inside that?
It feels linear bit sized missions so far.
Loving the game so far, and I am only in the Desert world. Been put back in there after killing the boss there.
So, how do you do that double hat jump? Ive seen a video of someone performing it. Back in the first area with the dinosaur, there is a huge rock with a flag on it. I think I can make that if you did the double hat jump, but I cant do that. Is it an unlocked move?
I can jump to Cappy of course, but jumping from him and throwing Cappy again to land again, I cant do. Any ideas?
mario 3d land is a proper 3d mario, its simple but its still full 3dFull disclosure, I have never played a proper 3D Mario game before (no Mario 64, no Mario Sunshine and no Mario Galaxy). The only Mario games I have played are the original Super Mario Bros, New Super Mario Bros and Super Mario 3D Land.
I played through the first 10 Kingdoms yesterday and came away having enjoyed my time with the game but with no real desire to play anymore of it.
The presentation and music are both brilliant and the game has so many cute little details and so much charm. It genuinely made me feel happy just running around a lot of the environments.
The gameplay itself was ok but I found it all very basic and lacking in any challenge. It was very rare that I 'died' and often I found that death was a result of me either struggling with the camera or struggling with the waggle controls.
For someone completely new to 3D Mario I wasn't 100% happy with the way that Mario controls. I'm not sure if it's the camera or if it was the method that I played (I played with 2 split joy cons) but I found that I would often struggle to have Mario do exactly what I wanted. The cap in particular was difficult to throw up/down or along the ground so eventually I gave up and used the buttons only. On a personal level I just don't like the way that Mario runs and 'feels' in this game but I imagine this is just my personal issue since I haven't really seen or heard about anyone else complaining about the movement or controls. I think maybe things would improve if I were using a pro controller but the default control method of 2 split joy cons just didn't really work well for me.
Overall I enjoyed the game enough to play through the first 10 kingdoms but I didn't really find anything memorable about the game outside of the presentation and my annoyance with the joy cons. All of the bosses were very simple and basic (so far) and the gameplay is mostly without any sort of challenge in terms of platforming. Collecting additional moons just didn't really have much appeal to me either so maybe this style of Mario game just isn't for me.
The game really became special for me once I went back to the first couple of worlds and started trying to collect everything. The sheer amount of stuff hiding in the nooks and crannies is amazing, and trying to get it all can become quite challenging.
Additionally, the game really, really opens up once the credits roll. It's where the true Mario Odyssey starts. Finally, that video with the crazy jumping getting Mario all the way up to the tall tower with the coins posted halfway up this page is something everyone should strive to learn. Once I began to be able to move like that, the game became much, much more fun for me.
Not sure if this is what you're talking about: https://kotaku.com/how-to-jump-really-really-far-in-super-mario-odyssey-1819922521
I've been practicing it and it's a little tricky to perfectly pull off. I can do all the steps consistently but don't always land on the hat after the dive.
Wow why is this OT so slow...??? I just got the game
How the hell does someone jump rope 11,000 times... lol
It's slow because most people have moved to the "other place". The Odyssey OT over there has roughly 70 or 80 pages.
I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing, I like that I can keep up with this OT and read every contribution. It's more manageable now.
so before i drop $50 on this game, how long is it?
This game is way too easy.
I'm actually finding it a bit boring as a result.
Im really struggling controlling the missile, its like the controls switch depending on your direction
