I still don't get the appeal of the game. If the whole thing is those line puzzles then it doesn't really appeal to me.
Happy to have it surprise me though.
Disappointed.
Not at the price but at some of the reactions in this thread.
so much salt

Were people really not expecting a $40 price tag?

Why were people expecting $15-$20 again?
It has to do with internet and piracy devaluing media. It's sad. Good art takes time, money and effort.
If you want amateurish stuff that's cheap go to Youtube and weep.
just the majority of it
I really can't imagine anything less than $40. The scope is way too damn big for <$20.
I bet it would have been cheaper if Talos bombed. But it didn't, so its a good price point for this kind of game
The whole game is not line puzzles, though that's been mostly what has been shown.
It transitions pretty quickly from line puzzles to environmental ones; this is on display in the launch day trailer. Not sure how it breaks down in puzzle count split, but my impression is the line puzzles are more to teach you about the later game.just the majority of it
No, it's called progression. Indie games are taking the next step and getting bigger in both scope and production values. This game isn't a 5-hour 2D game that would normally cost $10-$15. It's a 100 hour game in a fully 3D world. Not all Indie games are created equal, nor should they be all priced the same.
What a fucking joke! Get your shit together Sony, this shouldn't have been an issue at all.
Games have been devalued to a point where $40 for a "downloadable game" seems crazy to many people. And to be fair, it will probably cost half that in a few months.
From what I've seen, $40 seems like a fair price for this game. I'm excited.
Progression? Then explain Axiom Verge to me? It's $20 and looks exactly like an 8 bit NES game. Sorry but I don't think that ANY xbla/psn game should be more than $20 and that's being generous. At $40, The Witness should have a physical release in my opinion. Of course, this is just my own personal opinion. This generation has had some good games but in so many ways, has gotten worse than last generation but to each their own.
So what are the reasons that this should only be worth...ahem... cost $20?
Seems like a steal for a whole island, though. That's a lot for a bunch of line puzzles
:lol
I'm out.
That's way too much for a vote of confidence on Blow.
So what are the reasons that this should only be worth...ahem... cost $20?
If you want mid tier development back you have to be prepared to pay fair prices.
I was replying to Marty's comment on TV and films.I don't think that's what devalued games. Mobile did that.
Is this accurate? If so, gonna pass.
