Also, I've accidentally double-posted before when I meant to put two peoples quotes in one post and forget to edit my post to add the new quote and instead make a new post. Oh well. Also I see no problem if you're posting a second or third time because the thread wasn't posted in for a while (More than a day or two please) and you have something new to add other than "so no one agrees?" or it's important enough to bump for new people to see.

Edit: Also, don't you love when you're suddenly the one at the top of a new page? Better than being the person at the bottom of the previous page.

Two questions about the quick reply script: a) can you disable the quick quote button? The clean look is gone with this button, I want it gone. b) the quick edit screen looks kind of messed up on FF, worse than the default quick edit. Is there a way to get the default quick edit?

I uninstalled it for now, would love it if it was just the quick reply box.

I guess a lot of people don't know how to claim an OT.
You just follow the instructions in the OT OT and if you've ever been curious on how people go about making them or if you want to assist in the creation of one to get your feet wet before claiming your own this is the place to go.
Game OTs go up the day of/day before in some (most) cases. Sometimes even earlier if people are getting their hands on the game early.
Off-topic OTs go up a week before release.

I always thought this was earned by either making a huge fuck up of a post, being overly stupid or making an astonishingly and revolutionary statement on something.

Still won't ask because it feels weird to do so though, I always wanted a tag related to being a legit emulation enthusiast (because I bought tons of shit like the Retrode+adapters to rip my games and made a lot of thread about emulation and how to do it.). Though I can't think of a clever tag for this...something about preservation I guess. :lol

Just coming in here to stress the importance and usefulness of subscriptions. So many people that claim they can't find threads they often post in have very obviously never heard of subs. I always have one Sub tab open at home, and usually check on 20+ threads (not at the same time, my tab space is valuable).

Alternative method is to take the post number and use the post tags e.g.

I still don't understand how this is disrespectful or appalling. But I won't do it anymore knowing there are people who hate it.

The problem is that it disrupts the flow of the thread. Most forums are designed to show you the posts in chronological order, so I always expect to see the original post first and then the replies, so reading a reply before the original post is very confusing. It doesn't help that I tend to skim the quoted posts, because I assume I've read them earlier, so for a few seconds I'm left wondering "What's this person addressing? I don't recall reading anything that deserves this particular response". It's only after I read the preceding quote that I learn the context and realize it is a case of future quoting.

Btw currently this only functions properly when logged in I've noticed in the last couple years (either something changed or I used to be logged in more idk). The updates will still occur when logged out, just far more slowly than the usefully frequent updates when logged in; It's faster to just manually refresh.

I'll add Youtube Link Title as a must-have for general video links. Raw Youtube/vimeo/streamable.com/vid.me/etc links are auto renamed to their titles (already titled links are kept as-is) and hovering displays the video thumbnail. Clicking the link opens a moveable video pop-up that doesn't affect the page layout, where the video can be played. It's perfect.

Also added a userscript to embed both WebM and Mp4 videos on GAF, and to scale like regular images. Can be used on Android as well though currently the addon required there seems to forget the installed userscripts on re-launch atm.

In news threads, people will tend to reply to the opening post (or even just the thread title) despite it being way outdated, instead of taking the bumping post into account.

Any chance the tweet tag could be activated? Posting tweets on the forum is currently very awkward.

Your options are just copy+paste the text, which is the quickest and easiest way, but suffers from low visibility when users are scanning a thread looking for updates. It's also not easy to check the source, unless the poster includes a link to the tweet or account.

The best thing at the moment is a screenshot of a tweet, but that is a multiple step process, made potentially even more difficult if you are on mobile and/or have to crop/resize the screenshot. And still suffers from the same issue of making it hard for people to view the actual source tweet.

Plus, neither option allows you to embed a tweet with a GIF or video.

Given how many threads are started (or given a major update) on just one tweet, this would be a huge QoL improvement.
