Can someone tweet Major Nelson this?
"Showcase a console without actually using the console? That's one approach"

so basically he's saying that HIS decision is questionable ...
Jeeze, you guys...
Guys, the only reason they're running on PC is to emulate the daily Xbox Live DRM check since these things are not connected to the Internet. How embarrassing would it be if your demo units refused to run your games!
Non-story here.
Should say 'that's the one approach'.
Start #theONEapproach.
Deceive customers #theONEapproach
It's not like he's gonna reply
It was only the playable demos that were ran on PC hardware, right? None of the showcased games?
Yup, it probably has SLI'd Titans. I mean look at the Xbone's size compared to PS4. When there is smoke ..We dont know what is the xbox gpu (nothing as far i know is confirmed right?) so maybe there is a powerful gpu inside lol
That's not the issue, it's childish.

If you don't know why they chose to do that how can you judge their decision.
This picture was shot at e3
Look closely at the card in the desktop.
Apparently the demo units for the Xbox aren't using dev kits that are at the same level as what the Xbox specs are going to be. They are using PC's that have an Nvidia GTX card inside. For anyone that doesn't know about graphic cards and the technology differences, an Nvidia GTX 700 card should be much more powerful than the GPU in what will be the Xbox One.
xbox 360 was exactly the same... Its first e3 was actually g3 macs if i remember right.
Nah chance are bigger that it has received a downclock given console history or that they have a 7790 in it.
But given the 764 ops/cycle an engineer said on the hardware panel makes the 7790 unlikely given that it can do 896 ops/cycle. It would bring the performance closer to the ps4 with 1.79Tflops on 7790 on 1.0 Ghz, 1.57Tflops on 900mhz or 1.4TFlops on 800mhz.
These would all be valid options for microsoft. But they don't have the time to do it if unless they did have multiple prototypes. The case is so big so they could tinker with the cooling.
Or they are late and that is why they are supporting only like 21 countries at launch because they think they are supply strained..
But i have given up hope for a better gpu because of the pr push for cloud resources. And the games showed on E3 don't seem to show the 50% more gpu performance on the ps4, they both are probably more cpu constrained then gpu constrained. They also didn't push the SHAPE sound block so either sony has the same block or something similar. It could be a very good push to improve immersion in games sounds do lag behind graphics. But the developers that do push audio you can tell in game especially dice with Bad company and BF3. Explosion have a bang to them.

The big thing is, when these games are usually running on PC, they are built as close to the actual system specs as possible, except, usually, ram amount. The main thing people are pointing out in this thread, is that the Xbone games are running on PCs outfitted with GPUs that are more then twice as powerful then what the actual console will have, at least on that specific demo stand in the OP. The biggest point about all this is the console is suppose to be out in 5 months and MS are stepping beyond the definition of bullshit by showing these games on PC's with way higher specs rather then "console ballpark" specs and when they actually have to get these games running on the farrrrr weaker hardware that the actual console will contain....they are fucked.
You're making assumptions in bad faith. If my GPU is a GTX Titan and I play Crysis at locked 30FPS medium settings, how is that any different to playing it on a GTX660Ti at the same settings?
That's somebody making middleware and Daniel Chace from Harmonix.
Nah, but only minors games like Crismon dragon seems to not have an xbox 1.That's not the issue, it's childish.
Just LocoCycle it seems, yeah.
I think launch titles on PS4 like Killzone or Infamous already look better than anything on Xbox. Titanfall was also PC like all the EA stuff. The heavy hitters that make better use of the hardware will come later, stuff like The Order, Deep Down or the Wizard demo show a glimpse. Also Ubi is using PS4 hardware (DS4 on stage?) to demo Watch Dogs and Division, but not 100% sure on that.
I think the difference will only get bigger over time and even the early multiplatform titles should show it.
Difference being that those were MS certified Xenon kits. This here is just a desktop PC.
They looked better but i said its not the that much better that every one claimed it was going to be. 5o% more flops 100% more bandwidth EDram is just shit we have been there with last gen when ps3 was all better on paper. While the 360 beat it a lot multiplat games at the start and it was evened out like last year.
The Hewlett pc could be certified Durango dev kits. Its seems EA also used the same kit to promote BF4 on console at least that was what i heard on B3D.
Is the actual GPU in the xbone confirmed as an AMD based chip?

Ryse is a Crytek game. When a Crytek game looks just "good" you have a reason to be worried. And the developers of Ryse made it clear they were on the final hardware. Which I guess bodes well because the game may not look fun but it does look graphically good. To me at least.

in this cabinet, there is no xbox one
Is it just me or is there no kinect in that pic either?
Making the game look better than it actually will at launch.
Thuway said something about this a few months back.
The bird speaks the truth.
Well, damn!See, not even Microsoft is running Windows 8.
at least we know now that the new Xbox One controller will work with PC by just simply using the USB cable.
Nah, but only minors games like Crismon dragon seems to not have an xbox 1.
Other big games like Ryse were on Xbox 1 from what I saw.

We actually don't know that. How do we know these machines hadn't drivers for the controller preinstalled? Drivers that MS might or might not release for PC?
Is the actual GPU in the xbone confirmed as an AMD based chip?
Since the console will be similar to a PC, does that mean it would require less power to emulate it?
Im thinking the same since they announced the specs of both consoles...they really are like Pcs, arent they? so if they dont have an exotic arquitecture anymore what could be the reason for not having a perfect emulation?
Can somebody shed some light on this matter?
