Does this thread seriously have 15 pages filled up already with no announcements? Goddamn guys. :lol

There's been lots of announcements.

Wii U Direct "Nintendo Games" Announced

There will be at LEAST two new Wii U games announced. https://twitter.com/NintendoEurope/status/293719673139253248

Soraya Saga (wife of Takahashi, director of Xenoblade), tweets about the Nintendo Direct on Twitter. She has only done this twice before: once when Iwata talked about the mechanics of Miiverse / unboxed the Wii U, and another time when it was announced at a Nintendo Direct that Monolith Soft was working on a Wii U game. This implies that we'll get further information about Monolith Soft's new title. https://twitter.com/sorayasaga

"Information about 'software manufacturer's titles' will be announced in the future." This could either mean details about these games will come at E3, or it means that this is COMPLETELY focused on Nintendo games only. http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wiiu/direct20130123/index.html

Implies that the upcoming Nintendo Direct is for Nintendo (1st-party) games. http://www.nintendo.co.uk/Misc-/Nintendo-Direct/Latest-Nintendo-Direct/Nintendo-Direct-698557.html

Announced to be 30 minutes long. http://live.nicovideo.jp

This webpage lists an "unannounced Monolith Soft game" in its "upcoming titles" section along with Bayonetta 2 and the Wonderful 101, implying that we're going to get new information about it very shortly. http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wiiu/software/index.html

Nintendo made an event for this upcoming Nintendo Direct on Facebook. The last time that occurred was for E3 2012. https://www.facebook.com/Nintendo/events

Iwata said this Nintendo Direct is going to be special in a tweet, and confirmed it's going to be about "what kind of Wii U titles and services Nintendo is developing." http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=46756048&postcount=675

Where's the Yoshi Island speculation coming from?

From the debug menu of Miiverse someone had access to on GAF at one point because Nintendo left the inputs for activating it active on the Wii U. They later fixed it in one of the patches but the user posted a bunch of pics of what he was seeing and among them were Miiverses not yet public such as:

metalgear
residentevil
yoshi land
metroid

There were a few others, I don't have the image on me (but it was posted in this very thread once already).

Yoshi Land was the explicit title of it. Throw in the Iwata staring at a banana and Bill Trinen staring at an orange in two different Directs and there's quite a big... interesting conclusion to draw from all of that. Whether or not it's actually true remains to be seen, of course, but given all the evidence above it all points to a Yoshi's Island game being in development.

I'd buy RE2 full HD Remake in a heartbeat. But i'd prefer something new... perhaps a return of Nintendo vs Capcom!"

Can't you see it, it opens with a video of mario throwing a fire ball, and then you hear a haduken! and its Ryu! then they do the whole paint thing again and bam, splash of Nintendo vs Capcom!

Is this old? Possible exclusive remake of Resident Evil 2 for Wii U to be announced tomorrow.

EDIT: Translation

Nintendo just announced a Nintendo Direct dedicated to Wii U that will be streamed tomorrow at 3PM PM.
The company of the mustache plumber should announce new games.
For its part, Capcom just announced that Resident Evil Revelation is comming to PS3/360/PC and Wii U and released a little teaser by announcing that this won't be the only title coming for Wii U.
This events have created hype over a rumor that is expanding around forums: Nintendo and Capcom would announce a remake of Resident Evil 2 exclusively for Wii U!
Just to point that IMO the Remake for the Gamecube is still the best Resident Evil game ever, that'll change if this's true.

Remakes of older games can be just as fresh as new games...see remake for example.

Resident Evil 2 would be a far cry, but it'd be an awesome suprise.

I'm not an RE fan per say, but I agree about the remake thing. Sony has sold me on the idea of older games getting remade/remasterd and feeling new. I would love some HD collections for Wii U.

Iwata in a pimp suit and hat.

"So you want new games? .... Bitches"

Zelda Wii U, Metroid Prime 4, Smash Bros, Mario Kart U, Mario 65, new IP, new IP bam bam bam.

I thought it had framerate issues not present in the original version?

It has fun issues not present in the original version, as in they overhauled the combat and rescued the gameplay. The frame rate can dip to 52-54 fps for brief instants, something that nobody but Digital Foundry running it through monitoring equipment really noticed. That's not quite an issue for actual humans.

If true then wow. RE2 15th Anniv and such but not a chance in hell of it happening.

never left the stone age
All versions have framerate problems

I thought the Wii U version had worse problems.

Wait, so the most it dips is 8 frames? I was under the impression it was much worse, like sub 30 dips. Wtf.

I see.

So........ how much more likely do Metal Gear and Metroid become if Yoshi's Island is announced?

That might answer what Retro is working on, even if it's kinda boring.

I'm not sure about the other versions but yeah, it can dip way lower than 30fps. But the problem is reproducible and is based solely on the number/type of enemies on the screen. Namely, if you don't kill the rocketmen, you're gonna have a bad time.

Otherwise it tends to go from locked 60fps in some areas to around 30fps in others.

How come no mentions of DKC Returns sequel? Isn't that a possibility on 3DS or Wii U?

Personally I think there are enough 2D platformers already...They have to "next gen" it up. It really is bad for Nintendo that both Metro AND Crysis 3 fell through.

Are you kidding me? A Metroid Prime in HD would be one of the titles that would excite me the most. As long as they cut out the linear garbage from Corruption and return to the adventure formula from the first two, I'm set.

i wouldn't be surprised if resident evil 2 came out on wii u as a timed exclusive w/ how close nintendo and capcom have been working together lately, but i don't want it

It'll be pretty disappointing if it is a R2 remake. Without Mikami and Kamiya it just wouldn't be the same. If anything, Capcom would just boost all Hollywood knobs up to 11 and make it 1000x times more action-orientated and cheesier than it was anyway. I can't see them doing it justice in any way.

Plus, I'd really like to see something "NEW".

I'm not saying the game would be boring.

I'm saying that after all of the crazy speculation about what in the world Retro could be working on, another Metroid wouldn't really blow anyone away. They've made Metroid before. If they were making a Zelda game, or Kid Icarus, or a new IP, or whatever other crazy ideas you might have, whether you want that or not, it would be a much more interesting development.
