I liked this trailer better than the last one. I'm probably not in for this at launch with everything else on my gaming plate but I think this trailer helped sell me on the game.

Already got this pre-ordered on PS4. I do have one doubt about this game... how am I possibly going to decide between Mario Odyssey and this in what to play first?

I feel you mate. Same dilemma here. And both games couldn't be more tonally different lol

This bit of dialogue just keeps floating through my head when I see any footage from this game.

Now all we need is a cyber-Hitler end boss but with Trump's head instead of Adolf's.

Do we have any Nazi sympathizers in here?

On topic though, I cannot fucking wait!

Probably, but they won't come out and say it though.

But personally, I think they're looking forward to the game as well. The same way they're fans of American History X, they might like that the Nazi's are depicted as these fantastical, successful, advanced soldiers, even if they're the bad guys.

Remember back when killing Nazis in a videogame wasn't considered some kind of political statement because it was pretty universally agreed that Nazis are bad?

Nazis ruin everything, even our enjoyment of killing nazis ;_;

That was the weirdest thing, gamers being put off by the idea of killing nazis when killing nazis is one of the oldest gaming traditions.

Go to OT and check out that "nazi wearing swastica armband gets punched" thread, you'll be surprised!

Just going to say it. 10/27 can eat a bag of dicks. This, Mario and Assassin's Creed on the same day is brutal.

Fine by me, gives me a week to revel the many ways of killing Nazi's while Ubisoft irons out the bugs (assuming it's going to be a repeat of Unity)

The game paints the Nazis as sociopathic monsters in every facet and your only major form of interacting with them is killing them in all manner of violent fashions. The game hardly paints them in any kind of sympathetic light and glorifies their murder to absurd extents.

...what's the problem?

...what's the problem?

The only problem I see is that it further instills the image of the stereotypical evil nazi villain in people.
Most actual Nazis look and act like ordinary people though, which makes it hard for some people to recognize Nazis when they don't look like what they know from movies and games.
See: Ann Coulter.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
Oof that looked spectacular. Day 1 dammit!

October 27 is gonna be a bloodbath:
Wolfenstein 2
Mario Odyssey
Assassins Creed Origins

It's a alternate history fiction with magic and Super weapons made by ancient Jewish cults.
I don't think Wolfenstein is muddying the waters.

Sure but media is a major influence on all of us and the way we depict things in the media will inform the real life opinions people have on those things.
I think its quite important to point out that real life Nazis don't wear certain clothes, don't look a certain way, don't act a certain way.
Thoughts is whats making someone a nazi and you can't see them.

Especially recently it has become very obvious that lots of Americans have trouble identifying Nazis when they are not wearing clear hints like a swastika.
Nazi ideology, unless directly connected in a visual way to the 3rd Reich, flies under the radar as just another opinion.
And the reason for that is that ever since WW2 ended movies and forms of media have depicted Nazis as grotesque villains instead of ordinary people.
Another thing is that media usually focussed on the evil deeds of the Nazis, rather than how Nazi ideology informed these evil deeds. The focus is on the actions, rather then the reasons for these actions.

If games want to be seen as "grown up" media or art, like movies, these kinds of reflections need to happen.

Of course it is.
This will inform peoples view of Nazis, just like Independence Day informed peoples views about aliens and The Big Bang Theory informed peoples views about scientists.

Unrealistic elements are really not a deal breaker in media.

Did AC:O get bumped back at some point? Could have sworn it was releasing earlier in October and it was only Mario and Wolftenstein on that day.

Plus Stranger Things 2 on 10/27!

What the hell are you going on about? Dont derail this thread about how you think Nazis are being represented unfairly in media. Go make another thread if you want to have an in depth discussion about Nazi representation in media.

The Reveal Trailer shows a Nazi walking into a cafe and: 1) picking up something for a kid which he dropped and 2) ordering a milkshake. Both rather "normal" things you wouldn't attribute to Nazis. Its almost as if Nazis are wolves in sheeps clothing whom you wouldn't recognize unless they put their fascism on full display.

I hope you argue as passionately about arabs and browns being represented unfairly in video games and black people in general in media.

Yeah I spent a while in there last night trying to get some reasonable explanation as to why they are so against violence etc etc no matter what! unbelievable really

Back on topic though That's why I'm glad this game is coming out so I can waste some Nazi scum

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus [OT] This Machine Kills Fascists

I'm trying to avoid any footage since I'm already sold on the game, but how do the weapons sound?

TNO had the weakest guns I've heard in a modern shooter. I'm really hoping they stepped it up this time

I have to wonder if this is dependent on set up. With headphones, the guns sounded appropriately brutal and I experienced no issues with the sound mixing others have brought up.

Ok I admit this...The New Order past me by but it’s up for download at £14.99 at the mo so may have to dive in before this hits.

Damn, that looks insanely good. Only thing that's got me bummed is I was hoping to see a lot of that 50s America imagery you see in the original trailer with the diner and whatnot. Most of the scenery I'm seeing here are streets full of debris and destroyed buildings and the same old concrete Nazi bunkers.

Very nice. Still deciding if I get this on PC this year or on Switch in 2018. The New Order is one of the best shooters of the last years.

Never played Old Blood, though. Is it as good as TNO?

Thats exactly my point. This image of the nice friendly neighbor Nazi is seen too rarely.
That was btw the reason why Get Out was so successful.
The bad guys were nice people on the surface.
It was a much more effective display of racism than for example a stereotypical Nazi/racist alá American History X because it was a more realistic display of what everyday racists look like.
It was more realistic, even though it had weird stuff about brain transplants etc in it.

Do you think it would be wrong to discuss these issues in threads about new trailers for games which depict arabs or black people in stereotypical ways?

Do you disagree with my criticism or do you just not want to hear it here?
Just because I am pointing out some problems doesn't mean I think that makes the game bad or that I want the game to change its ways.
I just think its kinda important to point it out.
Personally I actually think gory revenge porn slaughtering Nazis like Wolfenstein or Inglorious Basterds is pretty cool. I enjoy it a lot even though the image of Nazis it instills in people might actually be harmful.

Ann Coulter isn't a nazi though. She's a professional troll and provocateur.

She spreads Nazi ideology to a mass audience.
Whether or not she believes her bullshit herself is kinda irrelevant here, it would make her a Nazi either way.

Great to see all of you guys being so confident about those stuff not affecting the release of this game. I didn't follow those events too much (since I don't live in US) so judging by the EZA discussion I was worried that it may had a big impact and would force Bethesda to move the release of this game to a later date.

If it did get delayed, it would be less about the nazis and more about how it shares a release date with Mario, Assassin's Creed, and iPhone preorders.
