World of Warcraft: Legion patch 7.2 "Tomb of Sargeras" announced

Also Mages got fucked harder then Pallies on the mount situation.

As a mage main, I was a bit miffed when I heard disc, but I had feared they would just take the discs the mages ride in Malygos' fight and call it a day, so if nothing else, I'm happy its actually a bit mage-y in appearance.

Could be better though, yes.

I don't think I've ever been more disappointed by something more than that Paladin mount.

Moving away from Priest was a mistake.

The Paladin mount actually looks quite good when you watch it in hi-res, it has tomes and a hammer on the saddle and shit, very Pali-esque. If it sprouts some light (as in magic, not color) wings when it flies it could be good.

Dont get me wrong, another horse is still shit, but after seeing it in hi res I like it more.

Warlock mount should have just been an uprezzed Dreadstead.

One that ran across the sky on a trail of fire.
No wing bullshit.

Hot damn! I'll be honest it has been great being back and playing with old friends. Blizz has been nailing it with legion so far.

Maybe it does? It didn't sprout wings in the video (well we didnt see it fly at all, like the Pali and Monk mounts)

Even worse when playing alts: Suramar. My two alts still haven't started that quest where you get the disguise yet. I dread having to go through all that stealth crap again.

Definitely, I can say without a doubt this is the best WoW expansion in a very long time, but there's QoL features that are missing that really bum me out. Enough to make my sub lapse.

While Suramar is a bit of a slog I think its still worthwhile on alts, as you get a lot of artifact power items from it. And if you wait a while on alts and let some artifact knowledge accrue (which'll be even easier come 7.2), you can get some serious artifact power from it.

Don't think any of this could get me back in. You're still just doing dailies to grind out artifact power/gear/whatever until you get far enough to do mythics/raids. Getting to the level cap filled my need for new WoW it seems. They need to do more with this franchise, do a different type of game in the same universe or something.

I haven't played since Cataclysm but everything I've seen of Legion just makes we want to jump straight back in. Pretty impressive, really.

Meh, I just let my subscription lapse yesterday. Played for like 2 months and just could not find a class/spec that felt "just right". Sounds like interesting stuff, aside from flying coming back.

Do it.

As an added bonus, you can quest through all the Panda land and Draenor stuff too. The quest content was great as always.

So its not all doom and gloom with subs, let me counterpoint by saying im about to resub for my 5th month straight, an absolute record the last few years.

I hadnt played in a year and a half before resubbing 1 month before Legion came out, I had so little interest in it that I honestly thought this was finally the one expansion I would skip, I only played WoD for the first month if that, but this one has me totally hooked. And I have no intention of stopping knowing whats ahead.

Yea, It took me about a month or so to find one I enjoyed. Hunter was massacred for abilities, mage was pretty fun, Paladin was all about dump phases which kind of made it a bit boring. Went with monk for the mobility and I had never played it. Was already really far behind on artifact research as I had been doing my Hunter primarily at first. It's just too hard to catch up on anything. Artifact weapons and class halls by concept are cool. But the QoL for them sucks and completely put me off.

Mages and monks aside I'm not reply feeling these new mounts.

Certainly not anywhere near as much as dks, pallys, locks old level 60 mounts at least.

So all I'd have to do is buy Legion, and (at the very least) a months subscription and I'd be able to play everything I've missed?

Yes you get all the previous expansions automatically up to Legion. Also you can buy subscription with gold now depending on which region you are though prices are different, 80k gold in Europe and 40k for US. If you actually had the gold you just need to log in and the game will ask you if you want subscription and it will drain gold from all your characters to pay for 1 month, it doesn't even matter if you had the gold spread out across your characters.

I can't be sure, but I don't think I would have that much. Thanks for the info though!

Paladin is another boring barded horse? And I'll never stop thinking the 2h for holy is shit of the highest degree. That aside, looks like some nice updates will be coming.

I've grown to like the Silver Hand and the niche they've carved out for Holy, but goddamn that mount is making me reconsider my Druid or Shaman.

That patch is more content than entire expansions for other games.

It is a bit baffling that they are putting so much attention into WoW, and I say this as a WoW player. Isn't Hearthstone making them more money now? And they seem completely incapable of proper balancing that game OR adding staples of the CCG genre that the community has asked for since launch (tournament mode, drafting, etc.)

P.S. That DK mount. There's a reason they saved it for last. Ah, yeah.

The more I quest in Legion as Holy the more I hate the Silver Hand because I've never gotten dazed and dismounted as much as I do now lol.

I am excited too!

It seems that Blizzard is doing all the right things with this expansion. I really disliked and quit on Cataclysm, did not like Pandaria at first but in the end i had fun with it and found Draenor boring as hell.

But i have not many serious complains for Legion.
If they fix the alt progression and the Artifact Knowledge rate on main and alts half of my complains will be gone.
Other half is mending the casino loot situation. Sucks to get the wrong legendary.

Great expansion overall.

Q&A in progress about patch 7.2 and forwards, so I'll keep it updated. mmo-c is source as usual

  • Crafted gear will get better in Patch 7.2, but they haven't decided exactly how.
  • They don't want to restrict character creation based on factions to fix faction imbalance, but they are going to do a new round of Connected Realms to help with the issue.
  • They aren't considering Gnome Druids, Shaman, or Paladins at this time.
  • Balancing PvP is hard, but they have a lot of knobs to turn now and are ready to make quicker and more reactive changes to balance. They also have to consider how interesting specific PvP talents are.
  • Med'an being Guardian of Tirisfal is not canon.
  • They are mainly using Artifact Knowledge as a mechanic to help level up your off-spec weapons.
  • Stranglethorn Fishing Tournament is aiming to be back in Patch 7.1.5. They were aiming for it to be back in Patch 7.1 as well until two weeks ago, though. The problem with the Fishing Tournament is CRZ, so they're looking to make it a region-wide contest instead of based on the server or CRZ. This makes server population matter less.
  • Wrathion is still wandering Azeroth for now, but we'll see more of him in a future content update.
  • They're definitely looking at making things easier for alts, including artifact knowledge catch-up mechanics and reputation changes. They've already changed some of the things gated behind reputation, like Arcway and Court of Stars access, to be account-wide.
  • Can't give a definitive yes or no on when/if other races will get graphical updates for their base mounts, like the Tauren Kodos did in Legion.
  • Raid armor in 7.2 will be heavily inspired by Tier 6
  • There's no range on Holy magic being drawn from the Sunwell.
  • They're looking into making the WoW Token be able to be used for other services as well like Character Transfer, Faction Change, or Battle.net Balance.
  • They probably aren't going to update art graphics on older armor sets. They like to err on the side of using old content to inspire new content so that they don't upset people by changing things they've had for years.
  • They are looking at increasing backpack slots, as it wasn't as challenging as they thought it was going to be, but they are worried about what question people will ask every panel instead of increased backpack slots.
  • The raid armor you're getting from the Tomb of Sargeras is very heavily inspired by the Tier 6 sets from Black Temple.
  • They aren't sure about making Gathering professions not count for Profession slots, but it is something that comes up a lot, even internally, so it is possible.
  • Artifacts are just for Legion, but players who've played through Legion will be able to unlock Artifact appearances as permanent transmog for any weapon.
  • They're looking towards letting players target legendaries better, which will help with concerns of loot specialization controlling legendary drops' specialization.
  • They'll make Artifacts going away make sense.
  • They plan out character arcs very far in advance sometimes. Sometimes the end isn't completely clear, but they know the general journey (like Garrosh). In other cases, like with Wrathion, they had no idea where he was going to go at first.
  • Class accessories were put on pause to focus on Artifacts. They are going to look back and see if there is still a clear role for them now.
  • There are different groups of Naga with different motivations, just like Humans. In Azsuna, they are working under Queen Azshara, who is interested in the Tidestone of Golonnoth for a reason unknown to players.
  • The shortfall of the Withered Army Training ("Withered Pikmin") was that tank players had too easy of a time. They definitely do like solo gameplay like that.
  • There are definitely a few secrets left in the current Live game but nothing huge like Kosumoth-level. They are aware that a couple of the hidden appearance unlocks were done poorly and have learned lessons for the future.
  • Ysera is dead, but her spirit lives on. This may have implications for the future.
  • They're wary of doing guild housing because it detracts from the other areas where players group up. The second challenge is customization being meaningful.
  • There's more to Vol'jin's story... in time.
  • They're still working on new weapon animations for ranged combat.
  • Three words on the future of pet battle content: "Pet Battle Dungeon".
  • They don't want changing talents to feel mandatory in every situation, which is part of the reason for the restriction on where and when you can change them. They've made some concessions and conveniences where you can swap freely for a grace period after accepting a queue, since you may want a different build for solo questing. Having no penalty to changing talents lets you always pick the best thing for every situation.
  • They don't think there is a need for anything above Titanforged for items.
  • Cross-faction cooperative questions come up a lot, but they think faction identity is critical to World of Warcraft. They're not happy about two people are barred from playing together by faction, but they feel factions are too critical to bypass.
  • We'll look into getting a little more history and backstory on Khadgar's personal life.
  • No plans right now for letting engineers craft submarines, but they like the idea.
  • Undead can be Priests but not Paladins because Priests use the Holy Light for the preservation of life. Paladins mainly use it offensively... but sometimes for the preservation of life... we'll talk about it!
  • They're going to make Holidays more level agnostic at some point in the future. They shouldn't be max-level only experiences.
  • Mythic raiding not being cross-realm is one of the few remaining bastions of server-specific identity.

Vol'jin!

Is Med'an at all cannon anymore? He was not guardian but get the feeling he's getting the full heave ho. All in all it's a bit confusing as the comic was where Varian first showed up from along with a few others.........course he's dead now.

Mages really did get a shitty mount, the Paladin one looks like an upgraded mount of their horse but the mage one....damn.

Honestly, as much as i'm pissed for the diablo3 fail of this blizzcon, i gotta admit that blizz is hit thing all the right spot with legion :)

I bet it will go full on Pegasus Unicorn and sprout wings + horn
