Sounds like what would make the most sense, ya

The overeactions on the first few pages are funny.
Revisions are not the same as iterations that boost CPU/GPU, and you know it.There were 14 PS2s and some newer revisions broke old games.

So are there mixed messages with the S?

No offense takenAll we have is an interview with an MS employee and a buzzed Gaffer's impressions (no offense intended, Banjo-Kazooie) It certainly doesn't seem equivalent to a new iteration.

Exactly what they said it would be during their E3 presser. Still an Xbox One but smaller and support for UHD-BD and 4K+HDR output. So, just an "upgrade" for better colors.
Xbox One S will upscale games to 4K

So the S is basically a 1.5 and the scorpio is a 2.0.
My guess:
The S is only marginally more capable than the OG XB1. It will not match the PS4 in power. Neither the S or OG PS4 will match the PSNeo in performance.
They should just make Scorpio look like he Xbox One S. S for sexy AF
Yep. Don Mattrick era level of mixed messaging. Xbox early adopters are pissed.
Maybe, the metal used on the chips is made from unobtanium?
Possible a minor clock increase in CPU/GPU that will make games with near 30fps be more stable or games with 1080pr runs close to 1080p.
Get your data right...
240GFs to 1.31TFs (+446%)
1.31GFs to 6TFs (+358%)
It is a smaller leap.
Edit - Fixed to not cause confusion.
damn GAF effect. I started reading the thread, went out on the internet to find more info on this seemingly new APU, and ended up back here through searches.
Don't know if this is worth a new thread, feel free to lock if not. I searched and didn't find anything specifically about this.

Hmm, they could make a change that would significantly change performance to almost, or even match the PS4 simply by changing the memory configuration, I mean if they decided to do away with the expensive ESRAM, which costs more to manufacture than the extra CU in the PS4, then they could pretty much match the PS4 while even saving money. Xbox S would be a pre-cursor to Scorpio which will have a modern memory architecture and development will function the same way where devs would still have to focus on ESRAM for X1 while still working for Scorpio, or in this case, Xbox S.
It is not.
6TFs is what RX 480 will have (maybe a little less)... that is a $199 mid-range GPU today.. now imagine for 2017... Scorpio will continue to have a mid-tier GPU like XB1 did.
2017 will have the high-tier GPU over 12TFs... that is what 1080ti is suppose to have.
Back in 2013, i think we had 5 TFLOP graphics cards. so in comparison, the consoles were like 1/4 as powerful as pc hardware, if the 1080ti will have 12 TFLOPs the scorpio will be 1/2.
Missed opportunity IMO if specs upgrade is negligible.
Simple 30-50% overclock would have solved a lot of the parity problems. I would have traded in my OG Xbox.
Would have added yet another design point for devs though and there would probably be far fewer of them than original Xbones and Scorpio.

Should be trivial for devs to make use of the extra grunt easily without optimization.
Even if they say there's no difference at all, I doubt it, there's gonna be a marginal boost by shrinking the chips. Their motive is to make people believe there's no difference to not piss off current XB1 OG owners.
It's inevitable, tech gets better lol, now I do believe the perf difference is probably very marginal, and they might even be throttling back potential perf too.
1080Ti should come this year. Scorpio will compete with the next update of PC videocards which may easily be as high as 24TFlops for the top end.
You should also consider that Scorio is GCN based and as such should be compared to what AMD offers as NV cards are generally faster on the same flops.
Yeah I already have an Xbox One, but I have this preordered on Amazon for some reason. Guess I'll cancel if there's no real benefit (no HDR TV in this house).

Wrong they had to throttle them down to keep perf in line.So just to be clear....shrinking the chips does absolutly nothing to performance. Xbox 360 and PS3 had multiple die shrinks.

smaller transistors switch faster bruh.
its a small difference sometimes but its there. but they will prioritize efficiency over potential perf gains.
Dam MS, could you fck up your messaging to consumers any worse? Seriously?
My cousin and brother tried to convince me the XboneS was the same as Scorpio today. I tried to explain the differences, but then my brother pulls this article and says the S has better specs.. I was like wtf.
It's clear as day to me and I know Phil confirmed it wasn't true, but seriously anyone that isn't reading every single update of every article is just in a clusterfck of conflicting information.

The messaging has been a clusterfck since E3 reveal. That's not MS messaging, that's other fuckheads messaging though. As you're noting, it's actually super obvious to anyone that is remotely listening to what Phil has said. Like, if someone writes an article about a sony console and gets a bunch of shit wrong, that's not Sony's messaging being off.
Yeah, I was defending MS right after E3 because it seemed pretty clear to me. But we GAF geeks do not represent average consumers. Viewed through the lens of Joe and Jane Six-Pack (or DudeBros, if u prefer)...who may not know their bungholes from their elbows when it comes to tech...(because they understandably don't have time to really follow this stuff every day)...it's pretty damn obvious MS created a cluster-F of confusion.
